They were really trying to pad that movie with "lol we have to learn each other's powers" and Sue and Reed nonsense.

Though I will say, strictly from a design and performance aspect the movie at least did Silver Surfer justice thanks to Doug Jones and Laurence Fishburne. Everything else is kinda whatever but it's still at least watchable. It's not a complete piece of **** like Elektra or Fant4stic.

I personally didn't understand why Doom is there and not Galactus.

Sometimes I think, if cheap ass Roger Corman had just given those guys just a COUPLE million more to work with then F4 (1994) probably would have ended up being the best F4 movie to date by far and a cult classic. You could tell those guys cared and wanted to make a good movie but they had nothing to work with.

I still think the Corman movie is better than the Story or Trank ones. Cheapness and all.

That doesn't really scratch the same itch though. Great movies, but I think of them as Pixar films and of that brand. Would be like of all The Batman movies sucked but there was great The Shadow movie and trying to satisfy the need with that. Maybe that works for some, but as a FF fan since childhood, I have waited for them specifically

If you're looking for a specific IP though, then it does matter. I do love The Incredibles, but it isn't a FF replacement for me

I’m hopeful.

I loved what Shakman brought to the table with WandaVision, and from what we’ve seen of this movie so far, I think he’s heading in the right direction.

It looks like they’re letting him do his thing and we haven’t seen a MCU director really do that since Raimi with Multiverse of Madness (which I also loved).

Cinescape.com is reporting that Pixar's "The Incredibles" in causing major headaches for the makers of "Fantastic Four." According to their sources, "the entire third act of 'Fantastic Four' has undergone extensive changes as a result of Disney and Pixar's CGI family film 'The Incredibles.'

Outside of being top films, the Incredibles put out a lot of qualities that I/people want from F4, and is a few hundred miles ahead of all the live action F4 films. I would love this new F4 to take a lot of the strengths on show from it. Given that they were a success on film where F4 has had no joy, they are as valid a source as F4 comics.

They changed Doctor Doom to be a Norman Osborne type villain, so they were clearly not immune to changing things based on what was happening with other successful superhero movies and franchises and being reactionary.

Not sure but given the similarity of the two properties and their release dates being fairly close to each other I'll at least give it the benefit of a doubt.

It's all hope friend, sometimes blind hope, sometimes foolish hope, sometimes well-informed - there are no guarantees even with a dream team of proven creatives lined up across the board.

I've been "sure" some of my favourites would turn out well in the past. Many of them did and a fair few didn't to huge disappointment. I'm confident Reeves' Batman sequel will be very good, but I don't bet the house anymore when it comes to projects with so many moving parts.

Same. Reminds me of First Class having to ditch the original intended battle between Charles and Emma because Inception stole that thunder.
