You know whats crazy, literally a week ago I bought an obscure movie of his on amazon because it was cheap, Narrow Margin (I have a soft spot for obscure 80s/90s thrillers) and I really enjoyed it. And it prompted me to look up Hackman and see what he'd been up to these days and paparazzi had recently spotted him getting coffee or something and the man looked very healthy for a 95 year old.

Guy was an absolute legend, rest in piece, dude. Although him, his wife AND his dog died? Obviously something went wrong and this wasnt natural causes.
Yes, you see people 10-20 years younger who are so much more frail/look like they have much less energy. He must have been doing something right to have that vibrancy at that age.

RIP Gene Hackman and his wife and dog. :csad: We lost a legend. And it's with great regret that as many things I've seen him in whether it was Superman, Unforgiven or The Birdcage, I still have to check out The French Connection and The Conversation, along with some of his other work like Crimson Tide and Mississippi Burning.

I get annoyed at myself sometimes for being such a procrastinator when the death of an actor is the thing that motivates me to finally check out some classic films. Same thing happened a little while ago with David Lynch's death resulting in me watching Blue Velvet for the first time.

A Great Career.
Rumor has it. He COULD have been Hannibal Lecter in Silence of The Lambs.
He turned it down.
He felt that it was too violent.

Brother, you have to remedy this!

I recommend Crimson Tide and French Connection first.
Mississippi Burning is soooo good. But it is really hard to watch because of the subject matter. But Brad Dourif is so good at playing a corrupt and nasty character, as is Michael Rooker. It’s so satisfying to watch Hackman in the scene where he intimidates him by grabbing Michael Rooker in the disrespectful places. And Willem Defoe playing against type as a young idealistic g-man is great as well. But Hackman just nails that movie and is the backbone.

That man has aged like the finest of wines. The ones DK drools over that are too good to be in same room as @Ninjablade and myself. Those wines. :o
The wines FC and I are allowed to be near:

You ever see the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie? Picture that but with 100% less suckage (hopefully). :o

Honestly, the most I ever saw of that movie was the scenes on YT that showed Angela Bassett as Waller. I thought that casting was a slam dunk, but as for everything else...
