6 episodes in Andor, i dont love it yet but I’m invested. Something about the show is keeing me at arm’s length and im thinking it might be Andor himself and maybe thats deliberate. But I like what the show’s about so far. And i like the vibe and mood of it.
I feel like that’s how most people were feeling at that point lol.

I think I remember @flickchick85 saying it's slow to get into, but picks up.

Well at least it’s a better 2nd weekend than Cap 4 I guess!
Marvel has lost a large chunk of it's fanbase, who only react to the jiggling keys of nostalgia. Which is why Doomsday, Spider-Man, and Secret Wars will do great. But anything "new" isn't guaranteed any success for a while. People expecting F4 to break out should consider this.

Fant4stic made sure the F4 would never make it on the big screen... so miniseries on Disney+! :awesome:

It wasn't suddenly going to break a billion even with the change in branding mid release. 55% drop is actually pretty positive all things considered.

We will see on FF. Bought a brand new FF t-shirt for the occasion.

Would’ve bought a Superman shirt too, but that damn new S is ugly.

The original Thor has aged the best of Phase 1 and I don't feel like it's particularly close.
Everything except the bleached eyebrows. :o

Along those lines it's been a while since I had an MCU marathon but Thor and Cap 1 are among the few MCU movies that have gotten better over time for me.

They are horrid. :funny:

I really like Cap 1 until the montage time jump. Feels like a really abrupt switch in the narrative that cuts off a lot of character and story work, so we can get to the Avengers.

Excluding The Avengers and just looking at the Phase 1 solos, Captain America I think is the best one. But Thor and Iron Man are both great as well, but I think each has their own pros and cons and it's about personal preference. For me, I don't think they could have condensed Captain America's entire WWII history into 1 film and it turn out any better than it did. We were not going to get either multiple movies in the era or a 2.5 hr movie, so I think they did an excellent job.

My biggest issue with Thor is it feels small. Asgard is only a few rooms and the town looks super cheap. It looks like a set and not somewhere people really live. Same for the Frost Giants realm. Story is great and helps make up for it, but it is something I notice everytime.

I don't disagree with all of this, though I think Asgard overall looks pretty nice overall. Cap 1 has this same exactly issue, except it looks more fake and cheap, and nothing like the WW2. This is before getting into color grading and the general look of the cinematography. Branagh is clearly the stronger hand at directing.

I think it looks better though, and Cap has better action. Thor doesn't have any sequences that rival the Hydra POV camp escape or the Cap infiltrating the Valkyrie ship at the end. Asgard itself the few rooms we see I think look good, but the Frost Giant realm looks bad and so does the rainbow bridge itself. Looks like a sound stage.

Considering the uphill battle Thunderbolts* has been facing since the beginning I honestly think it's doing pretty dang well so far but Marvel is definitely having a problem bringing in new audiences and it starting to show.

A 55% drop is a win compared to how awful the second weekend drops have been for a good majority of their films and that's more than likely due to the positive WOM it's been getting but if it had wider appeal to those outside of the core MCU fans than I'm sure it would be doing a lot better.

They also really need to work on better managing their budgets because while $180M isn't bad it's still more than what I would have thought they spend on a movie that essentially stars nothing but D list characters with a good portion of them being from Disney Plus shows and movies from 4-7 years ago.

It really makes me wonder just how much they spent on F4 now and what they are expecting back from it but at least that movie has a good amount of hype going for it right now and the goodwill from Thunderbolts* should help too but it's not going to be a breakout or a billion dollar film IMO no matter how good it is if the Interest from non MCU fans just isn't there.

I still think it will end up being a great movie though or at least on par with Thunderbolts* from a quality standpoint.

That's the movie's main flaw. After Steve rescues Bucky and the Howling Commandos the movie speeds up way too quickly. An extra ten minutes really would have helped.
