The Naked Fun in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

They do need to delay the time frame to streaming. I don't even think 45-60 days is enough. It needs to be like 6 months IMO. Back in the day, I had to wait a whole year+ for the VHS!
On certain occasions, the long wait between theatrical and home video release was a major factor in me seeing movies multiple times in theaters. Just as an example, there was about an 8 month wait for The Two Towers to come out on DVD and I found that so excruciating that I made it a point to see The Return of the King three times in theaters because I figured we were in for just as long a wait for the DVD. That turned out to not be the case but it still took about 5 months. The longer wait for the home release absolutely warranted multiple theater viewings.

Nowadays, I rarely if ever see a movie more than once in theaters no matter how much I liked it. If you don't have a disposable income, there's just not much motivation to do so if it's going to be streaming in 3 months or less. In the last six years, the only time I saw a movie more than once in theaters was No Way Home and that was when it was rereleased for National Cinema Day and tickets were $3. Why in the hell did that stop, by the way?

This is why we are seeing the rise of popcorn buckets and such. Families were conditioned against going to the theater when streaming was the new hot thing, and that bubble has heavily burst. So we have to recondition people to going back to the theater again. Hence why things like "CHECK OUT THE NEW LIMITED POPCORN BUCKET" is a thing that trends on social media now. Leave it to Disney to then release a popcorn bucket that's $80 :o

They do really need to start scaling back the timeframe for these movies before they hit streaming. It's not a net positive for them at all.

Wait, what bucket is 80 bucks?

To be fair, the Galactus bucket makes for a cool display piece so I can see the appeal in that. That thing would probably look awesome on a shelf surrounded by the FF movie Marvel Legends figures. I'd actually wager that most of the people buying it aren't going to use it for popcorn at all. If I'm spending $80 on something like that, I'm not about to put sticky buttery popcorn in it. :o

I still think $80 for what is still essentially a fancy food container is ridiculous. $50 seems more reasonable. The Final Reckoning one was only $40 and that one comes with a cool key :o

It's AMC, I don't think they needed an excuse to jack up the price :hehe:

"I'm not messing around, I'm doing import stuff." While looking half dead. :hrt:

Like the general content. Fun seeing Lois being active. But good lord is that CGI very... Flash. :funny:
It’s really funny how I like a lot of the design ideas but am repulsed by how it’s shot. It’s a reverse of how normally things look bad on set and good on screen.

Henry Braham is a menace. The MCU visual limitations were clearly good for him.

Finally got some heat vision!! I know I’m a broken record at this point but words cannot accurately express how happy I am Supes finally has a personality again on the big screen. Literally first time in my lifetime. 🙌

Yeah this movie looks awesome. Looks like Gunn really nailed the action sequences too.

Yeah, the ideas are great. But it looks... off. Very fake. Which would be fine if that was the overall vibe, but they want a realistic world so it clashes a bit.

That said, none of this is a deal breaker. Just something that sticks out to me.

Superman looks like a lot of fun. Looks like they've been hiding a lot of craziness at the end there. Character looks great.

But for the life of me, can we as a society please stop using 13mm focal length to showcase speed while flying. It never looks good when you're doing it to someone's face :weeping:

David already got me smiling so hard. He looks like so much fun.

So that why it looks like that? Yeah, I don't like that at all.

Yeah. I mean I get why you'd do it. Stretching out the background will make it look like the character is going faster, but the bowing effect it does to the foreground, especially in the face is no bueno. Looks fine in spurts and it needs more things going on in the background to really work. Like Adam Warlock's few snippets when he tries to save Mother in Vol. 3. Bare backgrounds give you the Black Adam doofy look.

Best it's looked is with Tails and Sonic 3, but that's because he's a cartoon.

I love how comic booky this movie looks. Although just like with Fantastic Four i still chafe against how …digital and pristine these movies look. Can we get back to using shadow and contrast?

But other than that this looks great. I already wanna see Gunn’s version of Brainiac in a sequel cuz he’d probably go wacky and nuts with that character.

Looking at tickets, and it's cute that Fandango is using a little Superman logo to show a seat has been sold. They ever done something like that before?
