Hate is a strong word, but I really really really really don't like it.

That song pops up in my head everytime someone says hate is a strong word.

Anyways, this movie looks like crap.

I was optimistic for a long while.However,after watching the teaser, I get the feeling that this is a crappy remake of Bullet Proof monk for some reason.

Okay, first off, I'm not a rabid Dragonball fan, but did like the DBZ anime (although it did get superfluous quite often). So, I don't mind if for a live action update, there are things that are not in the film like there was in the anime and the magna, such as anthrophormorphic characters or dinosaurs or floating cars or whatever, or that they combine certain story arcs and leave out others.

But the least the filmmakers could have done was try to get the look of the characters right. I mean, Goku looks passable, considering it's next to impossible to find that hairsytle in real life, but the others? I mean, the least they could have done is make Bulma look like she has a blue punk hairdo instead of being a Lara Croft wannabe. Or have Chow Yung Fat actually look like Master Roshi rather than himself. And that was supposed to be Yamcha? And don't even get me started on Piccolo; I mean, how hard is it to have him look as green as the Hulk for crying out loud? The trailer flashes names of these characters along with still shots of them, but that should be unnecessary. We should know who these characters are the moment we see them on screen. And where the hell is Krillian? Why the hell isn't he in this movie?

And as for the trailer, whoever said it looked like a generic kung fu flick a la Bulletproof Monk was spot on. I mean, if you're going to have a film based off of Dragonball, then the trailer should look like the manga and anime come to life. We're talking about characters who don't just should energy beams; we're talking about characters who can fly, perform martial arts moves and super speed, and frigging destroy entire city blocks and landscapes with a wave of their hand. I mean, the last battle between Neo and Agent Smith in The Matrix Revolutions was more reminscient of DBZ than any scene we saw in this trailer and we needed to see glimpses of this. Teh reaction should be "Holy ****!" rather than "meh!"

With regards Bulma's look, a female actress with blonde hair (doesn't have to be dyed blue) and blue eyes would be more passable than Emily Rossum.

Okay I have to chime in on my list about the film.
1) Unnecessary characters where they should have used established characters from the the manga and/or anime.
2) The high school plotline is unnecessary and not true to of Goku's history and characteristic.
3) Taking out the futuristic and fantasy elements is a big slap to fans' faces of the show that made it popular enough to make it into a live action movie.
4) Changing the characters history, characteristics and things that make what the characters are is another slap.

To me this another Final Fantasy: Spirits Within if you know what I mean. The makers of the film to me is disrespecting the world and characters of Dragonball. They say they are but i do not think so after what we have read and seen. Zack Snyder and Sam Raimi are true fans where they respect the source material and the DB makers should learn from them.

huummm...DBZ2cool,i really like gotenks in your avatar,but let's face it,the reason the haters hate this movie is that they'll never gonna see smth like that in the db adaptation..aaaand...that's what really drives me crazy -even though that's a 20 years old anime ,no movie in present can match it's greatness or that very feeling we have watching db/dbz...and we must respect toriyama for that.and hate fox..for it's lack of will-they are disgusting me

Some people seem to think that if you take some source material then ground it in reality with dark characters ala Nolan's Batverse you'll be sitting on a goldmine.

I wish they would have taken a risk and made it more fantasy-based,I would rather have a off the wall movie like Speed Racer that doesnt do well then a fantastic 4 type movie that isnt very good but makes alot of money.

By them making it more fantasy based, it would have called for a bigger budget, something that Fox is not going to do. Maybe if the film would have been under a different studio and had a different director all together, it may have turned out better. I dont know that much about James Wong, but just from the overall set pics and leaked photos, it doesnt seem too much like source material meant anything to him. I would have preferred someone like Peter Jackson to do a DB, it would have definitely been more faithful. Maybe 4 yrs from now someone will decide to reboot it if this one flops.

the budget is rumored to be around $100 mil....that's not exactly that hard to make back. that being said, Hellboy 2 made $156 mil world wide so it would be a shame and an embarrassment if this movie doesn't make it's budget back.

piccolo is gona be green believe me he even would have the antennas on his head well nog sticking out but everyone was fina when they said no antennas!

believe me if the movie get good promotion it would do great in the box offices

Yeah, pretty much all movies make their budget back worldwide I meant domestic. Should've clarified I guess.
