nice finding the figs.. but dude.. there old as hell now.. we dont really need a reviewFadingCB said:I recieved my ebayed Astonishing Wolverine and X-23 today. I was honestly surprised all around, except for Apoc who I knew would be an amazing BAF.
Wolverine has new colors of course, but isn't just another Wolverine clone of every other mold. Honestly he may be the best Wolverine yet IMO, even better than the brown costume Wolverine (refered to after as BC). His claws are softer than BC Wolverine's, but they are done much better IMO. He has most of the same joints, but lacks BC Wolverine's swiveling waste, but gains an added up and down motion to his wrist (which may not make the most sense given his claws shouldn't bend, but nice nonetheless). He has the usual articulation, but it seems more fluid with all the joints feeling steady at the same time. Posing is easy, and most joints like his ankle give no resistance to move. The best upgrade I've noticed is the hip joints. My BC Wolverine hips were a bit annoying to move around and needed to be rotated to get different positions, whereas this is more like a Spiderman figures hip. Only downside is the hair on his arms, now while it's a plus that he doesn't have grey veins like BC Wolverine, his arm hair is slightly worse. Instead of going up to down, it's side to side slightly thick brown lines, it isn't horrible but could have been better in that area. Also his joint inbetween his ankle and knee is far better hidden, instead of simply having a line mid way down, his entire boot swivels back and forth. It's the same articulation, but no visible line and it makes it look more natural.
X-23 I had guess would be awful, but was wrong again. One of the better ML female figures IMO, her arms are a bit thicker so they don't feel fragile, and porportions are pretty spot on. She was skinny in the comics and hardly the most curvaceous of Marvel women, but she isn't exactly a beanpole here. She seems to be a more accuract representation, he waste is slightly larger than psylockes, her legs and hips move a bit better than Ms. Marvels, and she also has up and down wrist joints like Astonishing Wolverine despite having claws. Also she has a cool feature where her third claw is hidden under her foot and you can flip it out from under like a tiny switch-blade. I got the purple varient X-23, I heard the origional had a slightly messed up face, but the face and hair look great on this one. Only thing is you can tell she's meant to be slightly bent over in a more feral position, her neck and the way her hair is molded make her head stick foward slightly, but it doesn't hurt it in any way.
Finally is the big guy Apoc. He alone was worth buying the entire line for. I can't believe that I might actually like him better than the Sentinel or Giant man BAF's, but I think I do. I've always been an Apoc fan, and this figure is a good representation. It seems that because I built him later on they fixed the problem with the left hip I heard was going around early on. His articulation of course is ML standar, except he has no joint inbetween the elbow and wrist to spin around, but still looks nice. His face is truely one of the best ML sculpts yet IMO. My only problem is that I'm missing 1 of the tendrils that attach from his back to his arm, but I don't mind, it still looks great. All but one of my BAF parts were from the origional blue, but his torso is the black varient. Overall tho it might actually be better like that, other than having black shoulders and blue arms that is. The black cut off by his ribs looks great with the rest of the blue pieces. His head has great articulation, and casts a good shadow giving a good menacing stare no matter which position you put him in. His hips, shoulders, elbows, knees, ankles and so on all have good articulation.
Edit- I take that back, Apoc does indeed have a joint inbetween his elbow and wrist to spin his hand around. Mine were just slightly glued in place, so another + to him lol.
Overall this was a series I was glad to finally finish up. I might finish up Galactus seeing that I just need the torso and legs, but I'm in no hurry.
