I'm in on this movie for mckinnons character alone. She looks like a lot of fun

This is my most anticipated trailer just for the reaction after, rather than the film itself.

Lawd help us.

are you ready? i am not. the hate will be so huge that members will get banned. i know SHH and i know how this will end. :wow:

Why does one have to have a good reason for simply disliking that idea? I, nor necessarily anyone else against it, are saying they hate women...... which IS sexist. They just don't think this is a good idea.
You seriously don't know how sexist you're being, do you.
And yeah, I don't. And if I have to give a reason why, it's because it's gimmicky. It's passed off and defended as being progressive and diverse, when it's no more diverse than the original was. The only difference is what parts the characters have up top and down below.
If the only difference is vagina and boobs instead of penis, and that's why you're against the idea, how is it not sexist?
Plain and simple, the director didn't want to leave his comfort zone and pitched an all female version, which is in line with what he's best at. And Sony, who are absolutely desperate for franchises, approved it. And th we need they passed it off as taking a more diverse approach, when it's, again, the director not wanting to leave his comfort zone, and wanting to work with the performers hes had the mostime success working with.. That's not bad... but it's a little more than insulting when one gets called sexist for not agreeing with that.
So you're disliking that a director who has had successes with comedies, takes the job to revive another comedic property, but in his style and with performers he's had the most success with, and the only issue you're having is because the director won't leave "his comfort zone" of working with women, and getting surprised that you're being called sexist?
If they truly wanted to be diverse and progressive, it shouldn't look like this:
ghostbustersteam.jpg
So we have four ladies, I'd say looking like your average everyday people; three of them white, one of them black, and one to two of them on the heavy set side. All like the original four.
Or this:
ghostbusters1.jpg
So now the original team wasn't diverse?
It should look like this:
Extreme-Ghostbusters-Cast-1.png
So it should have a goth girl, a Latin guy, a physically disabled white guy, a black guy, and Slimer on the team to be considered diverse?
And Id venture to say even something like that could do with another female. It'seems a damn shame when a short lived children's cartoon from nearly 2 decades ago can you to shame in the area your take is supposedly built on.
I think you're just mad that this new team is not your personal definition of diverse.
And I'm sorry if this belief is offensive,
You should be sorry, and you should educate yourself.
but making the Ghostbusters all female (regardless of if its the same characters) is a gimmick IMO, and its a cheap way to aim for diversity/a more progressive take on the concept.
Even if it is a gimmick, so what. Worse comes to worst, you don't go see the movie. I don't see how they're going in a cheap manner to take on the concept.
Now that doesn't inherently make it bad, but that doesn't mean anyone has to like it or agree with either. And simply doing either (neither liking or agreeing) doesn't make someone sexist.
No one is saying you have to like or agree with the choice at all. But when you're only reason literally boils down to "It's because it's all-female" I'm sorry to say, but you're a damn sexist.
That logic is as bad as those who say being anti-feminist makes you sexist. But that's a whole other discussion I won't get into.
Well, not wanting equal rights and privileges for women is kind of sexist...

I'm so ready. Love when -ists get banned. :yay:

I'm not sure anyone's ready for that. It will probably register on the Richter scale.

Yep it will not end well either way.....

Personally, I think Michael J. Fox should play Spider-Man next time. What's that? Too old? That's ageist.

You want a white male lead for your fantasy film? Did not see that coming.

So what are the next films that would be good for the trailer to be attached with? Deadpool and Zoolander?

Can someone please explain to me why all male or mixed is okay, but all female is suddenly a "gimmick" or "pandering", yet sexism doesn't play a part?

Hell, like I've been saying, substitute "all female" for "all black, Asian, Indian, LGBT, disabled etc" and you'd still have a valid question. Anything that isn't the status quo is considered pandering for being too PC.

Please don't feed into their stupidity. It's already derailing the thread enough. :csad:

danny glover or donald glover?

Danny. But maybe Donald Glover could play Wonder Woman? I'm not that familiar with the actor, but I've heard positive things about him.

Stephen Hawking is the obvious choice for Lex Luthor.

(Why should age and physical difficulties matter? Come on, it's 2015!)

derailed indeed

the new story seems interesting, the original had them all colleagues working together and Winston just showed up

this one has two of them worked together, split, and then get thrown back together

wonder who makes the proton packs?

i thought that days after the posters they would realese the trailer?

New Ghostbusters To Battle Ghostly Criminals, New Image Released.

The new Ghostbusters will be taking on criminals of New York City’s past, when director Paul Feig’s new film hits theaters in 2016.

Entertainment Weekly reveals that the new team of Ghostbusters – played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones – will be taking on ghostly criminals from history, including “pilgrims, old-*timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot*-suited gangsters.”

The reveal comes with a new photo from the film, seen above, and some comments from McCarthy about the legion of internet doubters who don’t believe this all-female cast can live up to the original film’s heroes, played by the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis.

“If this doesn’t work, we go back and lose our [right to] vote,” McCarthy jokes. “I’m talking pre*suffragette.”

Why do they always look so pissed off or drab in every official photo we've seen?

So that's the hook this time, the ghosts are all criminals. I guess it makes sense making them more of a police force like that. Though I wonder if the ghosts that are just...there, they leave be. Like not causing mischief.

this looks akin to that awful A-Team reboot
why are they trying to look tough in all the photos?

this is still supposed to be a comedy, right?
cuz the only joke I've seen so far is the casting

What I'm wondering is are they going to come up with any originality? We've already seen ghost criminals from the past; The Scoleri brothers in part II, zoot suit gangster ghosts (Al Capone and his gang in the animated series), seen old war time ghosts (Civil War era ghosts in the video game). Come up with something new already.

They're trying to look angry or intimidating, but look ridiculous. Look as bad as those Terminator Genesys ET covers.

Has it been announced who's doing the ghost/creature design and effects?
