Wait, "found footage"? Horror?

I really, really fear for this movie..

I think it's going to be a colossal bomb. It just seems like one of those series of movies that just doesn't need to be rebooted, rehashed, updated or touched.

In my opinion I think Ghostbusters is one of those off the moment movies, classics. Those movies will forever be ingrained into the memories of those that saw them as a child, teenager or even adult closer to the time.

I've not even seen any footage or even pictures I don't believe but I already am fearing that it will be one of those movies with a supposedly 'very funny' cast put together, that will just try too damn hard to be funny.. The trailer(s) are going to really have to be good in order for me to even think about going to see it & potentially ruining my childhood.

Michael Bay has already destroyed enough of my childhood.

Believe me when I say, I want this movie to be successful & I want it to be a great movie for all ages.. but sadly what I've read & seen about the movie thus far isn't impressing me.

I don't believe you

not that it matters, but I just wanted to put that out there

Just keep in mind that all of that is a rumor, right now. I hope it is, cause a horror version sounds pretty bad.

....and this is why so many people had issues with Feig. He appears to not get it.

Sure, an all female team is fine, if it's organic and relevant to modern day audiences. But the way Feig went about it 'i just find women funnier' is adapting GB's to fit his all female line up, rather than select the best women, then write a good GB's story.

Then, to come out and say - 'i don't know how to do it - to continue it, i have to start fresh' but then to only 'Bryan Singer' it and make it a statement piece. Getting in the whole debate of gender politics.

Then to release set pictures where it is basically a rip off in terms of uniform, car etc.

Then to have the secretary be this good looking, buff male character portrayed by an actor currently playing the nordic god of thunder?

Then, to manage to get the whole original cast back involved, only to have them as joe bloggs and steve the cabbie??

There is nothing original to this. It just seems a mess and anyone that says this is either accused of being sexist and everything else with it, just so 'slactivists' can feel good behind their keyboard.

Oh man, this does sound pretty bad.

At best, this movie is a decent rehash. From everything we've heard, it's doing the exact same things, just not as good. But if this new rumor is true, it may not even be that.

If they really wanted to do this, they should have ditched the entire idea of making it Ghostbusters and just done a movie about a female paranormal investigation team with absolutely no connection or references to the 1984 movie. That way they could have done whatever they wanted without worrying about living up to the genius of the original, something they had no hope of matching.

The only things they're using from the first movie are the name and the logo anyway.

They may simply shelve it if it's really that bad.

fixed that for you

You could say this is just a negative rumor that people want to believe to be true almost. Huh.

Wow! It's like anyone who hates the idea of this movie will latch onto any little scrap they can to prove that their blind rage is justified when we still know nada about this film to either praise it or burn it with fire.

One person... who heard from another person... who has some 'inside' knowledge... says it wasn't funny after a test screen. Nothing about this can be verified, mind you, but we heard it, it's true and the movie's doomed. Cue the massive reshoots and the movie's never even going to make it to the theater's its so bad rumors.

Do any of you actually know how test screenings go? Especially with comedy screenings, a director has several variations of jokes, from safe to absolutely outlandish that they use in different cuts. There will be multiple test screenings and some will hit the mark and some will not. Paul Feig in interviews last year said this very same thing. He wants to experiment until he gets it just right. It's why we'll sometimes see jokes in trailers that never appear in film, so that the surprise still awaits us with the actual viewing in a theater.

So if this rumor is true (and it very well could be) it really doesn't mean much of anything. Same would be true if it was the opposite and someone was declaring that studio execs were laughing and vomiting at the same time it was sooooo funny. It really doesn't matter as much as many are making it out to be.

This is the first negative screening we've heard of. Merchandisers got to see a snip it and they began ordering more product after feeling they had a hit. Some Reddit user gave it a solid 7/10. Not the best thing he's ever seen, but decent.

Please, Feig, give us something... anything. We're arguing with nothing right now and it's driving me crazy!:hmr:

I said this ages ago - make it a whole new baby, let it be judged on it's own merit. Fans would probably like it more and think it was a nice homage to the tone/vibe of the original - it's like Krampus, had a gremlin's vibe which was appreciated and applauded. now, imagine if Krampus was indeed a reimagined Gremlins. It's xmas, a kid gets a pet, that when wet, grows into Krampus, an anti Santa that spawns off mini versions - people would be like, woah???

Maybe a bad example, but you understand what i am saying..... right???? ;)

I could actually see this being shelved or postponed for considerable reshoots, and delayed like a year with a new writer to beef up the script. Crazier things have happened. Look at Jane Got a Gun, or The Interview, or even The Invasion with Nicole Kidman.

This is a high profile Sony distributed film with notable leads with brand name. It's not being radically delayed.

Kind of hard to buy that a movie featuring several of the funniest women in mainstream comedy made by a well known comedy director isn't funny at all...

That's the reason I'm not paying the rumor a whole lot of attention. We really need a trailer. The GB community is scrapping and we need a taste of Feig's vision to know where we stand on this thing.

Okay, here's ALLEGEDLY what is currently going on with this production:

The link above is just one person, there have been multiple threads on other sites saying the same thing.

Long story short: the studio had a screening and they aren't happy. It's not funny nor scary, they gave Paul Feig total creative control and he wanted to make a horror film with some laughs. He's an R-rated comedy type of guy and this was experimental for him, the studio execs have no idea on how to market this film right now.

Not surprised, this has the same Fant4stic vibes. Sure it may have had a few more bts pics released, but this is a Fant4stic level of disaster on other levels.

This is not even a rumor. Notice how no sites are reporting this? Cause it has nothing behind it.

Could the film be unfunny? Sure. Could the film be terrible? Absolutely. But not from this non-report from a person who claims to know a person who saw it posting on a message board anonymously from a film people have already written off.

I could write the very same thing here about any of this summer's blockbusters and people would believe it.

We literally have no reason to believe that.

I'm just as right to say I think it'll make a billion and spawn 30 sequels. It won't happen, but I can say it based on the very limited knowledge we have.

Cue random smiley in 3...2...:mnm:

GB I had some strong horror elements in the terror dogs. GB II had the potential for even stronger horror with the mood slime, NY's fiery tempers, and mob violence being kicked off by the slime's effects...
