The New Ghostbusters - Part 6

I think the trailer is actually a poor representation of what we are going to see on July15th. It doesn't capture the tone of the movie as well as I think they could have. There are some things I wish they would have saved for the movie so you could see them in context. I'm always surprised how they can cut completely disconnected scenes together to create a new narrative in trailers.

i'm still looking forward to this by the way, but the jokes just didn't land for me.

Yeah it wasn't a well put together trailer at all, had no punch at all.

I think this project is gonna be one of those things you can either go with or not which is usually the case with these long delayed Sequel/reboot/re-imaging projects to iconic films or franchises.

Ultimately, everyone's gonna have their own view on it and some people will be able to except it and some won't . Like it or not, when the brand is that much of apart of pop culture that's how its gonna be.

Good to hear

Jeez, could they try to bite on anymore of the beats from the first two?

Awful trailer. 100% awkward cast. Can't wait for this to bomb.

This is really meh. The jokes aren't really off, they're just embarrassing. None of the actresses have chemistry; it would make sense if the group happened to be a regular team of comedians that have worked together multiple times. Does that not happen anymore? The black woman is ugly, I'm just saying. And if the trailer is a representation of the movie, then everything is just going to be awkward.

P.S. Four Scientists? Winston was a scientist?!

Those ghosts looked awesome! Looks worth watching for whatever ghost story they're telling. And the action looks way better than expected.

I didn't really like the jokes other then the exorcist reference - that was pretty hilarious.

The bolded is exactly what we've gotten.

All four of these ladies have appeared together before either in film or on television (Saturday Night Live).

The trailer was decent. There weren't a whole lotta jokes in there, but the movie looks cool. The ghosts look good .

I thought the trailer was pretty decent, but I'll be really pissed off if the reverence to the original is just for the trailer and has nothing to do with the movie, because that's just false advertising then.

I guess we have to understand this is not a pure comedy, it is an action-adventure comedy, so the trailer needs to reflect that. It's like Mystery Men I guess (which was a career-killing bomb but still a movie I really like).

Agreed with the bolded part. I get the use of 'Who you gonna call?' as a tagline, but actually referencing the events of the original in the trailer feels like cheating. People may think that the movies are related but then if it turns out to be an actual reboot, people are going to be pissed.

The black woman was ugly? WTF does that opinion even have to do with a damn thing? Seriously? As if the leads of the original were judged by their attractiveness.

Once again, my prophecy comes to pass. :o

That's my main issue. Frankly, everything else in the trailer looked solid for me.

But the humor was pretty lame. I still am just not of fan of Leslie Jones...this movie doesn't look like it'll change that.

Not to split hairs, but we don't really know what Winston's background was. He likely didn't have a Ph.D., but that isn't a bona fide requirement to be called a "scientist" as far as I know. He did participate in their wacky experiments as part of his paid employment, so technically he does count. (Cartoon Winston also eventually earned a Ph.D., though in what I don't think was made clear).

The jokes didn't all land, but I really think it looks great otherwise. My long held support has been justified, at least for myself.

Of course, for certain corners of the Interwebs, this could be the Citizen Kane of comedy and they'd still call it crap.

Well...the action looked cool.

But not one joke landed for me. I think all the ladies are talented and so is the director but that's about it

I also find it kinda funny/weird that it's the exact racial makeup of the previous ones. Down to it being 3 white scientists and 1 black person.

It doesn't really matter anyways because this is a "reboot" not a "remake".

I don't think Leslie Jones' character is a scientist in the film.

It IS an actual reboot... hence why I said that mentioning the original movies was my only major gripe with the trailer.

Im not sure what you consider the difference. Within the movie's universe the original events never happened. It felt like a remake to me.
