The New Ghostbusters - Part 6

Men in Black 3 didn't successfully relaunch anything. It came out in 2012 and last year was when we actually started hearing serious tallk of a sequel. If it was big hit 4 would have already been out by now. Sorry needs franchises outside of Spider-Man and Jumpstreet. That's why they're trying MIB again.

I just looked and MiB 3 was far more critically well-received than I remember it being and was also very much a financial success, so even if Sony has decided to try and reboot the franchise rather than build on what MiB 3 did, the film was still very much a success and is, I believe, the best of the trilogy.

They basically pulled a Yoda and made a CG version of the animatronic of Slimer from the first flick.

I like everything I saw except for the black chick, forgive me but I forget her name. Just not a fan of her I don't think she's funny from what I've seen on SNL and other things she's been involved with etc. But to me I liked everything else.

I understand that SNL has fallen pretty far, but I still get a laugh about complaints about a Ghostbusters film having SNL people.

Omg...the irony.

And I'm old enough to remember that when Ghostbusters 2 came out, people didn't really like it because they thought the kids' cartoons that had come out since the first movie had really watered down the material.

Now I keep hearing things about 'canon' and I had no idea that was a thing when it came to Ghostbusters.

Anyway, I thought the trailer was OK. Expected the vitriol the internet was going to throw at it, but I don't think it's the horror show they're crying about.

Unless it gets Pixels-level reviews, I'd check it out.

She's pretty awful

You should have seen the raw footage. It was a guy dressed in black spandex in a rubber Slimer head and torso and green Christmas lights running around.

I'm still surprised I didn't laugh once given that I generally like the people involved.

Why have Slimer, if they want to reboot? It's one thing to ape the name/logo since this is a franchise... dumb.

As a Ghostbusters fan since being a kid that trailer was awful. And it's very rare I say that about trailers. The humour wasn't even funny either.

Because it would be foolish to not include the iconography of Ghostbusters if you are making a Ghostbusters movie. There are Easter eggs and nods to the original all through the movie.

It was ok. Just ok. I hope they release a second one or something. I chuckled, but from the start of the trailer it really just felt like the exact same movie just with women. And I was hoping for more than that. They basically followed the formula.

Hopefully the full movie is actually funnier.

Easter nods like Slimer are ******** if it's a clean cut re-imaginging, it spits on your built up memories and nostalgia.

This is like Johnny Depp showing up in the 21 Jump Street film, it establishes rough continuity albeit being a reboot.

Once I see Slimer, I want to know where they old gang is. It makes me give 0 Fs once this film says the old gang never existed yet hey look, over here... heres our Slimer and Marshmallow Man and on and on because we can't make anything original and only want to ape your love of this franchise.

Come on, dude. That’s ridiculous. Slimer is a massive part of the identity of the franchise; just as much as the logo and proton packs. He appeared in both original films, was a massive part of the franchise’s marketing and licensing (more so than any of the actors), and has appeared in all iterations of the cartoons. You’re really scratching the bottom of the barrel if you’re going to complain about ****ing Slimer of all things making an appearance in a Ghostbusters film.

That trailer did absolutely nothing for me. Doesn't help that I can't stand Mellisa McCarthy. And while I haven't seem much of Leslie Jones at all, she seems annoying too.

Only positive thing I can say is that the ghosts looked cool

If this is your stance, you must've denigrated Casino Royale big-time for including a 1960s Aston Martin.

Sure did.

Oh, this just looks bad. Like, it wasn't even funny.

I was never on board with this thing but I'm actually gobsmacked as to how bad this looks.
