The New Ghostbusters - Part 6

I like the team, the new theme, and the ghosts. The humor isn't my cup of tea, though.

I laughed three times throughout the trailer which is enough for me to still be interested in going to see the movie. Though, full disclosure, I also enjoyed Bridesmaids and The Heat so this sort of humor is kind of already up my alley. I can see why it wouldn't be for some people.

I think Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon are very funny people. Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones not so much, but they're at least watchable for me.

I saw each of the original movies once each and both were years ago, so I can't say that I remember them incredibly well nor am I a die-hard fan, but I'm alright with what it appears that the movie is going for.

They really shoulda just made a different story/premise to really make this movie their own. This really just comes off as "let's make it with women this time." But with Ghostbusters being the label they've got a lot to live up to. They probably shouldn't have focused on the wacky jokes. And also, they could have made Leslie's character a scientist too but whatever.

Noticed at 1:37 mark one of the billboards says "That's a big Twinkie"

A homage to the scene from the first movie.

Well the trailer analysis with Fieg basically confirms
the logo ghost is the main baddie
. He says that even the logo has a back story. It seems like
they create the logo after their confrontation with the logo ghost, and that's the genesis of their badge.

That seems to have been the entire idea.

When the original cast sequel didn't pan-out, mainly due to Murray, a reboot was planned and I guess they thought the gender flip would keep things a little more unique for a reboot?

If Logo is the big bad, where does that red demon thing fit?

I've always maintained Ghostbusters is a horror film first and a comedy second. I think this trailer misses that mark significantly. There's suppose to be an element of terror and this has none.

Actually it looks like exactly what it is. Directed by the Director of Spy. Produced by the Director of My Super Ex Girlfriend. Released by the studio that brought you Pixels. Starring some people from Bridesmaids.

Slime on loan from 90s Nickelodeon.

I liked the piano version of the classic theme at the beginning and the effects on the ghosts looked pretty good, but nothing really popped from the characters or the humour for me.

The piano version of the theme took note from the first Jurassic World trailer except, this isn't a sequel and it worked to greater effect in the JW trailer. I will admit however I'm not a hater of the updated "electronic" theme song.

The piano made it feel like a serious film which the old ones werent.

The ghosts running around and the action shots give me pixel vibes.

So in this film the first 2 never happened but yet the first words on the trailer mention them?

Called it.

Same. The trailer dampened my enthusiasm truth be told. I'm still interested in giving it a shot though.

Likewise especially the black chick (forget her name). To me she is just not funny at all. But the ghosts and all that looked good to me.

Trailer is ok, nostalgia helped ( the vomit scene and the metro ghosts ).
I don't know what people expect but if it's a ticket back to the 80' that's not it. Reboots are what they are, reboot, not a Twilight Zone episode where we are young again.
I will see that in theater I think.

Edit : Holtzman is already my favorite character, geek scientist wearing the name of genius inventor Tio Holtzman from Dune. I guess it is not a coincidence.

Your avatar was the best part of the entire trailer :cwink:

All of Kate McKinnon's scenes were. She's eating Pringles! :funny:
