If its legit i do not think it will win over alot of fans who loved the original purely because of the nostalgia (ironically), there is most defo a point where you say ok you may have gone to far

This is why I think even if it was just Ray or Winston showing up to pass the torch there would be some credibility to audiences and they could just move on with new characters and storylines. Completely replacing them and trying to say these are the only Ghostbusters now while constantly winking and reminding the audiences of the original is just gonna make them go "the original was better", or "why was this necessary".
