The New Ghostbusters - Part 7

Yeah..It's a lot more complex topic, that steams prior to this remake. And also, I've mentioned this before, I have a theory that fanboys would complain less if the reboot had Emma Stone, Aubrey Plaza or the girls from Broad City....due to them being attractive and young.* Something that men don't have to deal with, And trust me I've seen comments about people wanting Emma Stone, for obvious reasons.

*BTW, Kate McKinnon is very attractive, along with Wiig.

The original members were not good looking (except for Ramis..maybe Hudson? But not conventiallly attractive like the Brat Pack kids).
The Broad City girls would not have written this movie.

lets be honest for a second here, if we were getting this instead, people would be singing its praises

I would watch *** out that movie just for this cast.

We really have seen boatloads of worse sequels than Ghostbusters 2. I think the hate for it is extreme.

I'm not sure if my level of enjoyment of the film will go up or down when I see it in it's completed form. I know that it will have to be pretty spectacular to beat the experience of meeting and sitting directly in front of Ivan Reitman and hearing his reactions and whispered comments. He enjoyed the movie, And he had some genuine laughs while watching it. I'm a little pissy about the marketing, because I feel like they are simultaneously spoiling the best story details (that may be because I understand the context of some of the out of context quick cuts of action) and ruining their chance at making a good impression. The best jokes have still been left out of the trailers, other than Patty deciding she was out, going home, had enough of this crap. I thought that scene played well and should have been saved for the movie. They didn't cut the stage dive...dammit...I actual made note of that on my audience score card. It's weak sauce.

The opening scene is on par with the opening Library scene of the original, as far as being creepy and atmospheric. There are a few genuinely spooky moments in the movie, and it is a fun and overall enjoyable film, that doesn't come close to being as good as the original. It just doesn't measure up.

That said, I liked it better than Ghostbusters 2, and about as much as I loved The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters. I consider myself a Ghostbusters fan...I still have my toys and models. I'm working on a ghost trap and proton pack replica set. I didn't love the new movie, but I had a good time and want to see it again, flaws and all...

High points: The gradual evolution of the equipment, there are some really cool reinventions of the gear. Kate McKinnon. Chris Hemsworth.

I don't hate it, I just think it is extremely weak when compared to the perfection of the first movie. I think the cinematography is as much to blame for that as is anything else.

They were doomed from the start because nothing they did was ever going to be as good as the first movie. Which is why I think they should have ditched the whole idea of doing Ghostbusters and do an original story instead.

The cinematography looks so "cramped" and digital. I miss big shots like at the courtyard of the first lab they worked at in original.

The other issue for me is that it's a Paul Feig girl comedy dressed up with Ghostbusters.

gonna be interesting to see if this new trailer gets more dislikes on YouTube than the previous one, lol

It is a very mediocre sequel, to an all time great film. Of course it gets hate.

The hate for Ghostbusters II is warranted. Ghostbusters is a pop culture staple and one of the greatest films of the 80s. Hell, it being so mediocre is the reason why a third film was never made. It doesn't need any apologist defenses simply because the remake looks like monkey s***.

Ehh I'll agree to disagree. I still love GB2, yes GB is the far superior film and a classic. But I don't think the hate is warranted. I think the hate is extreme, but that's just me.

Damn right I would. Because I'm a fan of these guys.

Wiig, McCarthy, Jones? Not so much...

McKinnon is the exception. She's coo.

I think that is a very easy and convenient way to deflect otherwise valid criticism. My problem with this movie has nothing to do with the cast and everything to do with the fact that it just doesn't look very funny.

Yeah, I liked all that. The concert ones still cool.

i'm willing to be that all the trailer reaction videos and comments/backlash that have come out will end up being a million times funnier than this movie itself

looks a terrible SNL parody with a high budget

the Angry Video Game Nerd came out with a video stating his reasons why he will not watch the movie and i totally agree with him. i would post the video but he does flip the F bomb once or twice

Rob Bricken over at Gizmodo/io9 is also really f***in annoying with that stuff
every headline is "Amazing movie that you have to be sexist to hate just dropped another unbeatably awesome trailer!" or "Marvel sucks cuz white guys still exist!"

They often champion weak shows, films and books on that site due to social politics rather than the material's quality. They regularly pick the wrong hill to die on in that regard.

The reaction to that video is insane. He gives very valid reasons why he won't watch it. Quickly says it's nothing to do with it starring women. Yet every comment or article written about it makes him sound like a woman hating piece of ****.

I had no idea that people disliked Ghodtbusters 2 so much.:funny:

I never had any problems with it.

The new trailer felt more action-oriented with very few jokes in between. All the stuff with the ghosts looks fun though and the effects and the action were good. I like Feig and I love the cast, so maybe I just want to like this but I don't think it looks as bad as everyone is saying. The jokes aren't that great but hopefully, the humor works better in the film.

They should've released the newest trailer first. I can assure the hate wouldn't have been that vicious.

I'm also curious how now they made it look like the firehouse is their place again, when we know is not. That's deceptive.
