The New Ghostbusters - Part 7

I don't know if I'm even going to see it. I would have never guessed that they could make a Ghostbusters movie that I don't care about.

The suggestion to 'scrap it' a month before release just screams of someone who clearly doesn't understand how movie studios work.

Yeah, let's invest hundreds of millions of dollars and put the time into casting, building sets, hiring a production staff, marketing and promotion, etc and scrap it because a few voices on the Internet are complaining. I mean sure, it'll piss off the stockholders and those thatve already burned money into this product...but the important thing is that the internet forums stop hating us...

I got a great idea, let's play the original on screens just before we release this POC

just read the trailer has the most dislikes a trailer has ever had in the history of youtube

I would read too much into that.
There are a lot of people out there who don't like the idea that this film was made in the first place.
I can see them making sure the trailer achieves this dubious record to discourage people from watching.

Yeah, a lot of that is just conjecture to get people disinterested. Obviously.

One of main problems (outside of it looking terrible) is we've all been waiting years for a legit Ghostbusters sequel like we were promised, and instead we get this crap.

we knew from the beginning that some will hate this movie because they think its the reason why the old team didnt make ghostbusters 3.

Murray didnt want to do it. end of story. Ghostbusters 3 didnt happen because of him.

Would a Ghostbusters sequel have been any good? A lot of people don't even like Ghostbusters 2.

Must not be too good a feeling to know that a mere sample of your work is the most disliked and thumbs down'd upload in movie history.

If Youtube were the Roman Colosseum, this project would have been deaded with the loudest cheers imaginable. Feig should stand in though since it's his fault

Just get the cast of New Girl to be the new Ghostbusters. Throw in Ellie Kemper for good measure.

Thing is, this cast isn't really that bad... it's the execution, the tone is not what we come to expect from GB's.

Anyways, i will wait for netflix to do their own series.

With the amount of truly awful sequels in film history, I honestly think Ghostbusters II is easily more on the "good sequel" side.

I thought people wanted a sequoot, bringing in the classic four passing the torch onto the new?

"Sequoot" sounds adorable, though. Like a mixed dog breed a la "Labradoodle."

The people who are hating this movie because of its female leads are doing a disservice to the people who are hating this movie because it looks terrible.

You can have a sequel without having to bring back the original cast. "Ghostbusters" is a business. At a certain point, people retire and newer generations come in.

I get that people love the original cast, but there's an opportunity to bring in new faces and make a whole new generation of people fall in love with the property.

You get lumped in when people that share you stance do so for less than genial reasons.

It's not like the sequel was reviled or anything. It was just very 'meh' and by the books.

Hell, you've got some fans (myself for example) that actually thinks its pretty damn good. Safe, but good.

Exactly. If it wasn't dealing with this controversy, it would look mediocre at best to most people. But since people are denouncing it the way they are, it garners more sympathizers who will exaggerate any potentially decent element as better than it actually is.

The controversy has influenced opinions on both sides. Overall there is just not much good to show. That's the unfortunate thing.

It's been kind of an interesting as well as annoying film to follow. Even alot of the strong pro side went against it when the trailer was released because they thought Jones was too stereotyped.

That first trailer really needed to show there are better things to talk about. All the sites and social media want to discuss is the controversy.
