The New Ghostbusters - Part 7

In my opinion, I think McKinnon's character should have been given Jones's role. They had the chance to make the black character into a scientist or at least do something with her character other than wacky stereotype.

The latest trailer is a massive improvement, but I don't think it will to do too much to repair thier image at this point. I watched Spy recently and really liked it. Not sure I would have picked Feig for this, but he can make a good, funny film.

I really liked Spy and I almost missed it because the trailers didn't look good. I'm thinking the same could be true for this one, though I've enjoyed the trailers, particularly the international trailer 2 released just now. I grinned from ear to ear during it.

Jesus christ, the number of articles I'm reading about people being accused of sexism for not liking what they are seeing is just getting out of hand now. **** this movie, not because it looks bad, but because it's causing the type of drama where no-one can have an honest opinion one way or another with being accused of something.

Yup. The movie itself doesn't offend me, it's the hoopla around it.

AVGN made a civil video where he explained why he is not going to see this movie (note: it doesn't have anything to do with gender) and he was slammed to hell and back. People calling him every name in the book. It's ridiculous.

I saw a commercial for this yesterday and man it looks bad

I'm telling you, the absolute worst moments for her are already in the trailers. She is actually a surprisingly rounded character. The marketing team has their head up their ass.

People that cut trailers, I still don't know how they get paid to do this, but I assume they're told to basically edit together money shots, wacky one-liners, and just crazy **** they think will appeal to certain demos.

That trailer actually looks good. If this film turns out at least entertaining, the marketing team should get fired for making it look like a turd for so long. Wow.

Then Sony must have found a worse marketing team than the one for Warcraft. :funny:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens used the same basic plot as A New Hope and people still enjoyed the plot of TFA. This appears to be doing the same with the first Ghostbuster's movie.

Ok, I actually enjoyed this new trailer a lot. The special effects being so ridiculously cartoonish at this point I'd say it's completely intentional.

I get the feeling that they are taking some inspirations from the cartoons as well. Especially with how McKinnen is cartoon Egon.

Well, none of the ghosts look as creepy as the terror dogs. But the influences of the RGB cartoon are evident, so if you liked those, you'll probably like these.

For once the international trailer is better. Yeah, this makes it look like this could be good. I actually laughed too. There are moments though where it still seems like a remake which I don't like but besides that it's fine.

That's why I've always loved the ghost effects. They remind me of Extreme Ghostbusters (the 90s version of the Ghostbusters cartoon), MIB: The Series, and Evolution: The Series.

It is a remake.

the sooner people realize that this movie will be terrible because its being made by sony, the better.

Sony is literally the armpit of hollywood studios.

The new trailer is a huge improvement. I laughed at the first proton gun test run in the subway.

I still didn't find anything funny
but that trailer was at least the most inoffensive to my sense of humor of the bunch so far

It is a remake.

:csad:

Well at least I have an idea what the movie is. I just don't see the point in remaking an already great film. Though this has been happening for many years now so I shouldn't be surprised. I preferred the idea of this being a loose sequel.

That's a funny scene, that follows a pretty creepy scene. It's one of a series of scenes that evolves the gear into the final proton packs. It's one of the cooler aspects that I liked of this remake. That the technology develops with the characters.

Taking inspiration from the cartoon is fine by me, since that's the version of Ghostbusters I'm familiar with. And yeah, the similarities between McKinnon's character and Egon are glaring.
Honestly it wasn't until a couple years ago that I watched the '84 movie, and I didn't really enjoy it. I usually hate the "nostalgia goggles" argument but sometimes I really can't help but to see the appeal of it. :oldrazz:

Not that I think this movie is gonna be any better, but eh, at least that last trailer is good.
