Again, how have they made a big deal out of it? It's been the complainers that have doing that.

Theres been articles from the studio and makers alike for a year sticking a finger to the fans. Not too mention sites spouting the famous "you dont like the film because there women". You can label it whatever you please but this entire process has been unecessary on both sides. Simple solution just never make it.

There doesn't seem to be anything PC about the movie. The stereotyping of the black character is the most grating aspect by far in regards to any social issue discussion for the film.

If they'd cast all guys then they have been unfavourably compared with the originals anyway..

Affleck and Jesse got plenty of grief. It was in fact a big deal. This was of course the casting of Batman. Plenty of people have an opinion on Affleck. There was also plenty of support for any decision they made, because DC has its fans.

Would any marketing for this movie had changed sexist opinions? Not everyone, just those who brought a sexist component to the situation?

No product is ever going to please EVERYONE. I am not saying there isn't idiots out there who cannot accept that the Ghostbusters cast is female. I am a realist and I get that the world is full of idiots. My point is, the negativity behind this movie wasn't just focused on that. I had zero interest in this movie when seeing the trailers. However, the reviews are swaying me. Now I will see the movie since the trailers may not be a great sample of what the finished product actually is like. I won't deny that the casting controversy wasn't part of the movie's bad press, but I think the amount of people who can be swayed by a good trailer far out numbers the idiots who cannot handle female leads.

Nope, it's sold out through next May, even though he left this weekend. The tour in Chicago (which features none of the original Broadway cast) completely sold out its run too. People camped out for tickets the night before they went on sale.

Where as you would get the usual fan reaction, this was doubled downed because sexist got on the train. Are we really talking about the worst trailers of all time according to the YT reaction?

This year’s “It’s a Man’s (Celluloid) World” examined 2,500 female characters in the top 100 domestic grossing films, and the study revealed only 34 percent of major characters were female, representing a modest increase from 2014. However, they do also represent recent historical highs.

The study also uncovered that females comprised only 22 percent of protagonists in all of the films considered, which actually represents a 10 percent increase over 2014, an exceptionally bad year for women in film, according to the researchers. The figure is six percent higher than it was in 2002.

To be fair, women in cinema don't get the same opportunities as men. See all the documentation that circulated about Marvel not putting Black Widow on promotional materials and such as much because they worry that their largely male demographic are less inclined to buy them. The amount of male action stars far outweighs women, and that applies to films as a whole in general. Darth and danyose are 100% correct on that point.

I agree that it holds up, but I don't see an issue with making a new version.
