The New Heroes RPG

IC: Mark Garfield/Sharkman

"I said I was sorry! What more do you want?"

It was the day of the competition. Kylie had ignored Mark for 42 hours, practicing on her own, despite Mark actually... shockingly, being there to offer help. She cleaned her board off, looking up at him angrily, without saying a word.

"...Okay, that stare just creeps the hell out of me."

"Well, considering you violated, like... quite a few different levels of my privacy, You deserve it."

"We live together. That's... sort of, not hard to do."

"So I should move out?"

Mark sighed, crossing his arms.

"You know I don't want that."

"Then be a little more mindful, if that's not hard to ask. What were you doing before you walked in, anyway?"

Mark paused. Great. The secret identity cover-up routine. Of all times...

"Uh... Burning wood. Listen, Ky... I don't know how I'm going to get you to stop acting like this... But I really am sorry. Okay? It's not like I intentionally did it."

Kylie looked at him, considering. Mark bit his lip, saying the next thing...

"...Besides... You know I don't swing that way...", He said, knowing full well neither of them knew it was true, but it would ease the tension.

Finally, Kylie managed a smile.

"Alright. I'll give you another chance."

"Goodie. Now I can sleep at night."

"Though, I have to ask... Did you like what you saw?"

"..."

"WHAT?!"

Kylie laughed.

"Kidding. I just needed the laugh."

Mark eased up, realising this.

"Well, now that we've got that out of the way... Isn't it about time for the first round?"

Kylie's eyes widened.

"Oh god!"

"....Yeeeah, you'd better go."

As Kylie put the finishing touches on her board, she began to run towards the contestant line, where everyone else was.

"HEY! KY!"

She stopped, looking back.

"For the record, Yes, I liked what I saw.", Mark added, with another smile.

She blushed, slightly, before continuing to the contestant line. Behind Mark, Gerr walked up, holding three virgin margaritas.

"Where'd surfer girl go?"

"Contestant line. First round's coming up in a few minutes.", Mark said, as the two sat down at the edge of the Surf Shack, which was... naturally, not that far from the beach. They had a pretty good view.

"So you guys kiss and make up?"

"You, and only you, wish."

"Pfft. Hardly. I'd have to live with that."

"What are those?", Mark asked, indicating the drinks.

"Margaritas."

"...This early?"

"They're virgin. Still want yours?"

"I'll pass, respectively."

"Awesome. More for mua."

As Mark turned, seeing the contestants to the contest lining up along the beach, He began noticing something. He was getting... hot? Shrugging it off, Mark just sat back, and watched as the various assorted surfer sterotypes paddled out to the ocean, along with Kylie.

"I thought you said it didn't start for another few minutes."

"Practice round."

"Ah. You've got to teach me this stuff, one day..."

Mark laughed. For a minute. Then, He felt something. The heat... It was increasing. He wasn't sweating, or anything... But it was definatley out of the ordinary.

"Hey, you feel that?"

"What?"

"The heat. It's getting hotter."

Gerr raised an eyebrow.

"You're tripping. We're in an air conditioned shack, under shade. We couldn't be cooler."

Realising that he was right didn't make Mark feel any better. If he was the only one feeling it, It was his senses. But he could control them, usually, in the climate. He only felt what he needed to feel. But this... This wasn't ordinary at all.

It was only a few minutes later that Mark realised what it could be. And that definatley didn't make him feel any better.

...

It can't be...

Mark was beginning to recognise the level of heat. During the fire, it had changed, drastically. Right before...

INFERNO

Immediatley, Mark turned to Gerr.

"Gerr, we need to get everyone out of here."

"Huh?"

"Something's about to happen. We need to evacuate the area!"

"...Dude. What the hell are you talking about?"

"I'm serious!"

"..."

"You sure you didn't drink one of these before we came?"

Mark stopped. It was useless. He couldn't convince everyone to go without revealing his identity, and he couldn't stop the competition due to something he couldn't explain. Looking around, Mark spotted an empty tent a few feet away, on the beach, and bolted for it. Gerr looked at him, funny.

"Definatley tripping..."

As Gerr lifted his glass to take another drink, He noticed something. His drink was... evaporating.

"What the-"

It was at that moment that a trail of fire exploded through the beach, circling it at blinding speeds. Gerr's eyes widened, watching this. Infact, everyone's did. Inbetween screaming, that is. Even the surfers in the ocean noticed this happening. No one could believe it. Just as it seemed to be over, something else emerged from the fire. Cackling, Inferno stood on the beach, burning everything around him.

"Beach party, anyone?"

Leaping forward, Inferno threw his hands out, creating a large auora of fire around him, making everyone run for cover. He simply laughed, seeing them run.

"No? Damn. And here I was, in the mood."

Inferno turned, seeing the banner for the surf competition above him.

"Surf competiton? That's weird."

He looked out at the stunned surfers, who simply floated, looking at him in shock.

"They don't seem to be surfing to me."

Raising his hand, everyone watched in horror as the front part of the ocean began to evaporate, creating a clear trail to the surfers as they were knocked to the dry ocean floor. Inferno stepped forward, looking at all of them.

"I'm looking for a challenge. Is this the best set of atheletes this island has to offer? Because if so, spare me."

He then began burning them. One by one, they caught on fire, screaming as they tried to put themselves out. As Inferno continued, He stopped, noticing Kylie, who he had yet to burn.

"Well, well. It seems not every surfer here is a skinheaded pretender. I think I'll keep you, babe.", Inferno said, with an evil grin on his glowing face. Kylie's eyes widened, as he reached out to grab her.

And, in that moment, they both noticed a shark fin, racing right towards them in the remaining ocean. What they expected to rise from the water was a large, scary fish. What they got, was the figure of a man. Sharkman rose, from the water, as if he was one with it.

"Leave. Her. ALONE."

Inferno frowned.

"Oh, terrific. You again. Let me guess... You passed up 'Flyman' on the gimmick list. Because you're definatley a f#*%in' pest."

Sharkman stepped forward. Kylie looked at him, eyes widened, seeing him for the first time. Well, technically.

"Well, this is cliche. Big bad hero guy saves the girl. You know how many times I've puked, watching this crap in the movies?"

Sharkman didn't respond. He simply sped up, and uppercutted Inferno with a fierce punch, sending the firey being flying. He turned to Kylie, still shocked at his prescence.

"You okay?"

"I... I... I think... I mean, I..."

"I'll take that as a resounding yes."

Sharkman looked over, seeing the burning surfers. He looked back at Kylie.

"'Scuse me."

Without another word, Sharkman sped off, back into the ocean. A moment later, the tide began to spin. Everyone watched as the water began to rise, and circle the surfers. Moments later, the water cleared, revealing them to be put out. Sharkman stepped back out of the ocean to cheers, from the beach. Kylie smiled.

"You saved me?"

"Technically everyone. But you were on my list of priorities."

Before either of them could say anything else, Inferno began charging back at the two. Only now, he sported an angrier face, and his flames were brighter. He was 'a tad pissed' again, obviously. Sharkman looked back at her.

Alright. Hero 101. Get all civillians away from big scary guy. Even if they're still a little bit mad at you for walking in on them in the shower...

Racing forward, Sharkman picked up and lifted Kylie in his arms, before speeding away from Inferno, and to the Surf Shack. There, Gerr looked up, from hiding behind the counter. Sharkman looked at the two, putting Kylie down. It was... strange, seeing them like this. But he ignored the feeling of awkwardness long enough to focus on the situation.

"You two might want to get out of here. You know, safety reasons, and all."

As Sharkman sped back to the beach, and towards Inferno, Kylie stood, watching him. Gerr joined her.

"... That... That was..."

"The Shark dude? Yeah.", Kylie responded, mesmorised.

Gerr looked around.

"Um... Where's Mark?"

Back on the beach, Sharkman bolted forward, smashing Inferno across the face with another punch. Inferno merely grabbed his arm, and punched him in the chest.

"Big mistake, Aquaman reject."

Grabbing Sharkman by the head, Inferno threw him across the sand. Before Sharkman could get up, Inferno attempted to burn him. Sharkman ducked the blast, before tumbling forward, and across from Inferno.

"Why the hell are you doing this?!"

"Why not?! Beats the hell out of Saturday morning cartoons!"

Quickly coming to the conclusion that this wasn't a guy to negotiate with, Sharkman unsheathed the two daggers from his gloves. His version of Shark teeth. Leaping forward, Sharkman spun, slashing the daggers across Inferno's chest. Landing, Sharkman looked back, only to see Inferno's wounds glow, before sealing back up. Under the mask, his eyes widened.

...Well. That's not good.

Laughing, Inferno leaped forward, grabbing Sharkman in a headlock. Before Sharkman could fight back, the two rose from the ground, being lifted by a trail of fire that Inferno was creating.

"Yeah. I can fly, too. Pretty goddamn neat, huh?", Inferno laughed, as Sharkman struggled to get loose from his grip. Spinning, Inferno tossed Sharkman into the ocean.

"You know, before you rose from the ocean all 'Creature From The Black Lagoon' style, I didn't think you'd take your motif literally. Guess it goes to show I'm not the only freak here."

Underwater, Sharkman tumbled through it, trying to regain control of his own movements. But he could still hear Inferno, due to his hearing.

"You like the water so much? You can have it. Marry a jar of it, for all I care. But let's see how much you like it at a BOILING point..."

Sharkman's eyes widened, as the water around him began to heat up. He could feel it immediatley, due to his sense of touch. As Sharkman struggled to reach the surface before the water became too hot, He realised he couldn't focus, due to the heat affecting his energy. Eventually, He could barely move, he was beginning to lose so much breath. Tumbling back down, deeper into the ocean, Sharkman struggled for life.

This wasn't good. It definatley wasn't good...

I felt a shift in the electromagnetic spectrum.

I could normally sense shifts such as when a thunder storm happens nearby, or when a solar flare begins(that really messes with my head. It's like a huge brain freeze that doesn't go away).

The problem with this shift was that it was alive. Don't ask me how I knew, I just knew.

Some other post-human was out there. Electrically powered at the very least.

I would have to investigate and figure out what he wants, and what he plans to do with his powers.

I would have to exterminate or absorb him if he was a threat to this place.

I took off in my transformed state, reaching Clevend in seconds.

I landed shortly, transforming back to human.

It should be in the area, and probably saw my electrical power display.

IC: Sharkman

Sharkman tumbled to the bottom, weakened. His strength was being sucked from him. He was barely concious. And with the heat rate rising within the water, He'd be fried in a matter of moments. Literally. He was beginning to think this was the end. All of his accomplishments and efforts over the past few months were wasted. And by a Human Torch wannabe, no less. What did he do wrong?

"Nothing."

Sharkman looked to his side. His eyes widened.

"... Kate?"

She was dead. He knew that. Hell, He based his entire life off of the guilt that came with it. But here she was, with him, amongst the water.

"You're-"

"Alive? No, Mark. I'm just a figment of your imagination, brought on by the heat. You're really fighting for your life."

"..."

"Oh."

Well that's disheartening...

"I know. Sorry about that."

"-Whoah. You can read my mind?"

"Being of your subconcious. Remember?"

"...Again, Oh. That also explains how you know who I am."

"Yep. Well, that and... between you and me, you're the only one who would think that headfin would look good."

"So... Um..."

"Why am I here? Pretty simple, really. Remember when I said you were fighting for your life? What you needed was the confidence to keep fighting, in an appealing form to you. So here I am."

"But why? Seeing you again would only bring back pain... It just reminds me that-"

"You were the reason I died? Mark, don't blame yourself. You don't deserve it. I should've known better than to try to make you into something you weren't."

Sharkman remembered how she reacted when he first told her, after he got his powers. She was estatic. She was thrilled. But the last thing she wanted was for him to be a hero. He could be a star. A celebrity, maybe even a hollywood stunt man. And Mark saw the potential aswell. But the result? Her death. It was what drove him to become a savior... to stop people who didn't value the lives around them, like he should've, from destroying everyone else.

"That still doesn't mean-"

"That-"

"-Um, if it's not too much to ask... Would you let me talk for once?"

"Shoot."

"That still doesn't mean that I wasn't responsible. I shouldn't have told you about my powers... I shouldn't have HAD them, in the first place. I should've gotten help... treatment... Whatever it took to keep me normal. And with you."

"Maybe you were responsible. Maybe I should be pissed as all hell at you for it. But Mark... I'm not. And do you know why?"

"...You can read my mind, and you're asking me a question?"

"Fair enough. The reason why is... Look at what you've done. Remember when those people up there clapped for you? It was because you saved them. You're a hero. I'm proud of you, you big goofball."

This wasn't real. It was all a hallucination. But... somehow, it was actually lifting his spirit. He had done good, and it finally mattered to someone. But then he realised something. If this Kate was a figment of his subconcious... It only mattered to him.

"No, it doesn't."

Sharkman looked back, at her.

"It matters to everyone. Remember how Ky defended your actions? Remember the woman that was glad to have her children back? The ones YOU saved? Hell, even Gerr took somewhat of a liking to Sharkman, even though he won't admit it. You're a hero. DEAL WITH IT."

"But... What about Inferno? I'm sort of getting my ass kicked, here. That's not really heroic."

"Well, maybe if you stopped talking to me and started coming up with a defense, you wouldn't be getting said ass kicked."

Sharkman laughed, a little. Even if this wasn't Kate... She had her personality down pat.

"So... this is the part where I snap back to reality, regain my strength, beat up the villian, and turn him into the police?"

"..."

"Wow. Indepth."

"Not really. I just read it in a comic, somewhere."

"Kate" laughed.

"You may wear a mask in your spare time now, but you're still as funny as I remember."

"I know I don't have much time, and all... But... is there any way I can bring you... the REAL you... back? I mean, I used to think impossible was... well... impossible. But I'm not so sure anymore."

"...Mark, honey. I'm from YOUR subconcious. I'm not reaching to you through some paralell demension or something. So the question is... Do you think you can bring me back?"

Sharkman thought about it. He sighed, before looking back at her with a sad expression under his mask.

"No."

"Then there's your answer. But hey, don't fret. You've got a life, now, you know? You've got two of the best friends a guy could hope for... a steady social status... And you can throw cars at people with your bare hands. You don't need me. You need THEM. And they need you. That's why you can't give up. Those people up there? They need Sharkman. And whether or not you want to be him or not, you are. Accept that, and life will be easier for you, Mark."

"...Wow. Indepth."

"Not really. I just read it in a comic somewhere.", She responded, with a gentle smile.

Sharkman looked at her. She was as beautiful as he remembered.

"Kate... I know, the real you won't ever hear it... But... I never got to tell you before you died, and I need to get it off my ches-"

"I already forgave you a long time ago, big guy. And I love you too."

"...Okay, that reading the mind stuff really is annoying."

She laughed.

"Will you let it slide?"

"Well... Okay. But under one condition."

Sharkman thought, and thought hard. Suddenly, "Kate" wasn't wearing any clothes. Covering herself up, She looked at him, a little annoyed.

"HEY!"

"Sorry. Couldn't resist.", Sharkman responded, with a smile under his mask. Maybe even a slight tear... as she began to fade away, waving at him.
And just like that, she was gone. And it was hot, again. He was back in the battle. And Inferno was cackling above the surface. Sharkman looked up, and down.

Alright. What to do... What to do... I..

...

Wait. Throw cars at people?

Sharkman thought to himself. Actually, he was capable of that. If he had that kind of strength...

He began to swim down. It was the last thing anyone else in his situation would do, but he was doing it anyway. Landing on the Ocean floor, quite a few feet below the surface, Sharkman looked up. His feet were on the bottom. Pushing his legs downward, Sharkman threw himself up, at blinding speeds through the water as he leaped from to the surface. Inferno looked up at the airbourne Sharkman, stunned.

"...That's-"

"Impossible? Says the guy made of fire. You're the last person who should be telling me about impossibility.", Sharkman responded, as he grabbed onto Inferno, wrapping his arms around him in a squeeze as the two plunged back below the surface.

Inferno screamed in agony as the water bathed him in liquid, and his flames dissolved, revealing the figure of a scared, hairless man, trying his best to get away from the beast that was keeping him under. But it didn't work. Sharkman's grip was too strong. It wasn't two minutes later that Inferno was completely put out. No pun intended.

Sharkman let go of him, as He floated amongst the water, looking around. He had to get back up... Had to re-flame... Had to-

"Hey. Sparks."

Inferno looked behind him, to see Sharkman, floating amongst the water as if he was flying in the air, with his arms crossed.

"I know you can hear me. And due to that..."

Sharkman smirked, under the mask.

"This must be really awkward for you."

Inferno looked at him, speechless, for a moment, before Sharkman's fist flew up, slamming right up Inferno's jaw. Sharkman watched as his foe flew up, and threw the surface. Swimming up, Sharkman watched as his foe crashed into a Lounge chair on the beach.

It took a few seconds to realise it. Silence filled the air as Inferno tried to get back up, but ended up falling back to the ground. In a final word, so to speak, He spit up a steaming stream of water, before his head fell back, and his eyes closed. He was out cold. Everyone looked back at Sharkman, whose head bobbed above the surface. After a moment, the people cheered him, happily. He had done it. Inferno was defeated, and everyone was alright.

He... won.

...Whoah. So this is what it feels like.

There was no reason for him to win. No reason he could've done it. It was the first person he had ever faced with powers. The first real guy on par with himself. Yet, somehow, he had beaten him.

He loved it. He absoluetely loved the thrill of victory. He almost wanted to rush to the Shack and drink the martini Gerr had bought, in celebrat-

...Gerr...

Oh dear god. Gerr and Kylie...

Immediatley, Sharkman plunged back into the water, disappearing from sight as the police came to the area, complete with a tank of water stationed in the back of their SWAT van. Sharkman would've handed it to them... They learned fast. That is, if he had seen it.

Back at the beach, Gerr and Kylie looked at the scene amongst a crowd of oncoming witnesses to the incident.

"See him yet?"

"Gerr, for the fourth time... NO. I'll tell you when I have."

"...I was talking about Mark. Not Sharkman."

"That's ...who I was talking about too."

"Then why the hell are you looking at the ocean?"

Kylie looked back, seeing Gerr, who was turned near the area that Mark disappeared to.

"Oh... right...", Ky responded, with a nervous smile.

It was minutes later that Mark emerged, from the crowd, carrying three chili-dogs. Gerr and Ky looked at him, for a moment, confused. Mark grinned, spotting them.

"There you are!"

"...Um... dude... Where were you?"

"Huh? Oh, me... I was out getting these."

Gerr and Ky were speechless. All this had happened... And Mark was out getting hotdogs?

"..."

"So... a crisis happens, a life threatening crisis, for that matter... And you're out getting dogs?"

Mark looked at Ky.

"Crisis? Oh, the fire guy. Yeah, bummer. Who wants a dog?"

Gerr and Ky looked at eachother. Unbelieveable.

"I miss something?"

"..."

"Oh, this is going to be fun..."

"I can't believe we've spent the last... what, five minutes looking for you... and you're off doing this?! You could've been dead, for all we knew!"

Mark held up one of the chili-dogs.

"Hungry?"

Ky paused, before sighing, with a frown.

"Whatever."

As Ky walked past him, Mark turned to Gerr.

"Something I said?"

"...It's... no, dude. Nothing you said. Though, Something good did come out of all this. Besides us still being alive, you know."

Mark raised an eyebrow.

"A fire guy and a dude with a headfin tear up the beach, and something good came out of it?"

"Yup. Know those "Ky and Mark sitting in a tree" jokes I've always made? Well, you're off the hook. Now I have a new victim."

"Oh really? Someone finally caught Ky's eye?"

"More than that. I practically had to snap her back to reality."

"Well, who?"

Gerr grinned.

"Sharkman."

Mark's expression went from curious, to... well, frankly, dread.

...

Oh. Joy, then.

As Gerr walked off, towards the Jeep where Kylie was loading her board up, Mark looked back at the ocean. He remembered how he had won the fight... and what it had taught him.

Those people up there? They need Sharkman. And whether or not you want to be him, you are. Accept that, and life will be easier for you.

Mark smiled.

"Guess it's about time, huh?"

Turning around, Mark walked toward the Jeep again, confident. He was a hero, now. Everyone knew it. And if he was to keep the title... He had to keep focused. No more messing up... Now, he was going into the big leagues.

"Yeah. Guess so."

Mark turned around, alarmed, looking back at the ocean for a long moment. Finally, he managed to say something...

"That is NOT funny."

I would need to charge up before encountering this post human. He may be powerful. I ran quick as a flash to the side of a house and grabbed the power lines that ran down the side.

I began to draw power from it. I always preferred using power lines for one major reason. It didn't really interupt the flow that much. The power to the house was cut off, but at this house no one was home and no one was affected, which was good. The last thing I needed was to be charged for an electric bill.

Kind of funny when you think about it.

"HEY! WHERE ARE YOU! YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKING TO!" I shouted.

I like the direct approach.

Ive been back from alt verse for one year. I have not turned into hotverse since the first time since the fight with the post human. I moved from Nyc to ohio for college at a big university. me and my roommate mark and his roommate fabian" We decide to all go a college party to being the new year.

I grab a cup with a sort of curious but reluctant look on my face.

Franchesco Capulet enters his enormous house after a long day at work.

Mr. Capulet was originally from Venice, Italy. He worked for a huge glass firm that had branches all over the world. That firm, Cappellin & C., had made him president of the Norfolk branch in 1979.
That year, he met his second wife, Alicia Gunne and married her in 1980. His first wife had died of cancer in 1975. Thier son, Amato, had followed him to Virginia. In 1980, Eva was born.
His life was good. He had money, a beautiful wife, two smart and gifted children, and could retire now if he wanted to. But on this day. Everything he has worked so hard for will be destroyed.

As Franchesco looks for his wife, he hears a noise come from the master bedroom. He runs up stairs and what does he find?
His wife is asleep on the bed. He looks at her and wonders how he found such a wonderful wife. But then he notices movement in the bathroom through the cracked door. He quietly walks to the door, and peeks inside. A man he's never seen is taking a pee, IN HIS BATHROOM. He runs to the dresser and pulls out a small gun, as the man exits the bathroom.
He looks at Franchesco, and glances at the gun. He raises his hands in the air and says "Hey man-"
"Who in the hell are you?" he asks in his thick venetian accent. He points the gun at him, anger in his face.
Alicia wakes up and looks at the men in shock. "He's Robbie."
"You mean your old boyfriend Robbie? Why in the hell is he in our house?
"He needed to see me. He-"
"Why would he need to see you?”
The Robbie and Alicia stay quiet, and look at the floor.
“You b!#$%.”
“Franchesco, before you do something stupid-“
BANG!
Robbie falls down to the ground. Alicia runs to him, kneels on the floor, and lifts his limp head.
“OH MY GOD! WHY IN THE HELL DID YOU-"
BANG!
Alicia falls over Robbie. Franchesco heads back to the open dresser and puts the gun back in. As he closes it, he notices a small figure in the doorway.
Eva stands there, staring at her mother.
"Eva, go back to your room."
She looks at him, eyes as wide as she can get them. She turns around and heads toward her room.
Franchesco opens the dresser again, and pulls out the gun.
As Eva opens her door-BANG!

20 years later-
Eva's life has gone downhill since then. Her brother sqaundered their families millions in failed dot.coms and other businesses. He now sits in a jail, on account of embezelment and perjury. She was left to fend for herself on the streets of Norfolk. Homeless, she lived on the streets for almost 6 years, until today, when a kind old woman who volunteered at the homeless shelter offered a place to stay until she got her feet on the ground again. When she arrived at her house in the Bayview section of town, Eva was bound and hooded as she entered the house. Stripped and given a shower, she was given a white silk dress, with a cresent moon brooch put in her hair and a belt with a silver crescent on it. Hooded again, she was dragged down to the basement. Houses in the area are not allowed to have basements (due to it being at sea level), but this was no normal basement. It was a small shrine with an altar in the middle of it. On the sides of the altar were 19 runes and a crescent moon. Layed out and tied to the altar, Eva cried and screamed "Why are you doing this!!! What have I done to you!!!"
"No no m'dear, it's not what you have done, it's what you haven't done. You are pure, innocent, you have a been a victim that hasn't seeked revenge on those who have harmed you." says the old woman.
"Please! Don't do this!"
The old woman places her hand on Eva's forehead and says "Sshh, Sssh, this must be done. Ashraon must arise. It is foretold and must come to pass. If it does not, this world will remain in the light forever."

She backs away, and looks at the other 18 Runebearers. She pulls out a dagger from her cloaks left sleeve and exposes her forearm. It bears a symbol, a rune, that she cuts with the dagger. As she passes the dagger to her right, the rune glows a milky white hue. After the dagger comes full circle, and all the runes have been cut, she walks back to Eva's side.
"With out blood, and the runes broken, the Seals are gone. Ashraon is ready to rise. Now, Eva, Your soul will die, and the soul of Ashraon will use your body as a vessel in which to conquer the worlds and bring darkness to the lands!"
She brings the dagger above her head, grasping it with both hands. She brings the dagger down into Eva's heart, and Eva screams out in pain. A beam of light rises out of her body, and shoots through the house into the Moon directly above. As she convulses in pain, the rope on her left wrist breaks.
"NO!!! Ashraon has not arrived yet!!! DO NOT PULL IT OUT!!!"
Eva pulls it out, and the wound glows silvery white. The beam ends, and the moonlight shines on her. She rises as the wound closes, and floats above the Altar. The Runebearers scramble for the door up, but freeze in their tracks. They begin to float to Eva and stop a few feet away, creating a tight circle.
"You have used me as a means to call your 'god', but no he is dead. When I pulled the dagger out, I severed the connection, but heard him scream as he burned away into Oblivion. Now, you shall join him, as my destiny begins, and yours' ENDS!!!"
17 of the runebearers necks snap, and are dropped like the dead shells they are. All that is left is the old woman.
"You have lied to me, I will never be lied to AGAIN! You promised me safety, and like my brother did after my father killed my mother and himself, you betray me. Thanks to you, I no longer need safety and will never be a victim again. Thank you. Now DIE!!!"
The old womans body begins to sieze, then twist and turns until she is just a ball of flesh. She is sent to space, where she falls into the sun and is incinerated.
Eva rises inside the hole into the house. The house explodes, she floats inside the crater. She rises hundreds of feet in the air, the beach and the Chesapeake Bay to her east, The Naval Base and Downtown to her West.
A sinster smile appears on her face as she flies toward the Base.
