Heh, I could see it happening. The X-Men just go through the same motions over and over again.

What are you talking about? It's not like the X-Men at all to repeat themselves!

So anyway, now that the mutants are living on an island in the ocean and Magneto is coming back...

I've never read an X-Men comic except for random issues or a few panels so I'm curious: what do you mean? I ask partially cause I was thinking of reading some old issues and such that have Nightcrawler on the team since I wanna read some good 'ol Blue Elf material.

Well, right this moment, the X-Men have opened an island as a haven for mutants. Years ago, Magneto converted an asteroid into a haven for mutants. Then he was given Genosha by the UN and turned it into a haven for mutants. And now he's just shown up on the X-Men's island haven for mutants.

Also, the X-Men's island haven for mutants is made out of the remains from Magneto's old asteroid haven for mutants.

Wasn't their San Francisco community supposed to be a haven for mutants in the first place? So now they've created a haven for mutants next to their haven for mutants, made out of an old haven for mutants?

I think they need to fire the entire X-Department and get some new blood in.

They need to mix up the X-Men by having them be less whiny loner types and put them into more superhero stuff. Throw some enemies at them that aren't either evil mutants or mutant hater types. Maybe have them team up with some other heroes for some big threats or just to help out. Rotate a bit of the story away from just the fact they're mutants and have them be more superheroes to everyone.

But they're an uber-minority now! M-Day shook the X-Men to their very core!!! Every second of every day is a no-holds-barred fight for survival!!!!! I'm totally being sarcastic!!!!11

I didn't catch the sarcasm til the "11" at the end. :o

I was cool with how Utopia ended. Mostly cuz they kicked Osborn's a$$!!! 1) When was the last time somebody handed Osborn his a$$? and 2) When was the last time the X-Men handed anybody their a$$?!!

kinda wished someone with superpowers had whooped "bullseye" on page,.. badly.
otherwise,.. no "real" complaints other than my normal six or seven.

I didn't actually read Utopia. I just like taking cheap shots at the X-Men now and then because I hate them all except for Hank. :)

Axel Alonso, aside from having the coolest name in comic book history, has been a mixed bag of an editor. He took over the X-books when Mike Marts left, which was pretty much at the start of Decimation. So we can thank Alonso for approving some really cool stories and crossovers like Messiah CompleX, the Utopia crossover, the move to California and restructuring of the X-Men as San Francisco's premier superhero team, the relaunch of New Mutants, the relaunch of X-Factor, Chris Claremont being shoved into writing only alternate universes, the upcoming Necrosha which should boost the mutant population a little, and all the other good stuff that the X-writers were allowed to churn out these past couple of years.

On the other hand, Alonso can't maintain a status quo for more than a single year. The X-Men opened Graymalkin Industries in the summer of 2008, and they've moved to Utopia in the summer of 2009. Alonso also dropped the ball on the Phoenix ___song Trilogy, hired Greg Land as a regular artist on Uncanny X-Men, and he dissolved the Red/Blue Team structure the X-Men have had since the 90's, which has recently resulted in everyone's favorite characters becoming extras for The Scott & Emma Show.

Still, I think the good has outweighed the bad. I'd be satisfied if the core X-titles adopted the Red/Blue format again, but apparently no one at the X-Offices wants that right now.

I agree with you, The X-books have been in the toilet for awhile, but you just can't hate Hank. He's too cool

I'm finding lately that I prefer the X-Men stuff over the Avenger stuff, which hasnt' been the case in years. I was thinking of X-Force, X-Factor, Cable, and Legacy and I realized that I'm growing to like all of them more and more lately. Uncanny's been bleh but this Magneto story coming up is interesting. Necrosha has my interests, especially with Blink, Senyaka, and Wither getting some panel-time. And in the background the whole Messiah stuff is building to a head.

All in all, I'm finding myself kinda excited for the X-Books.

Whereas the Avengers, however, have just grown stale. I like some stuff here and there still. I like Dark Avengers. The New Avengers have gotten boring, though I still like Spidey and Luke. I think the misuse of Bucky and Iron Fist helps kill that book for me though. Initiative is good, probably my favorite of the line. Mighty's not bad though I don't think I'd miss it if I stopped collecting. I'd just miss the Young Avengers. And while I'm excited to see the Dark Reign stuff come to a head and finish out for storyline purposes, I also find myself excited because it's a great jumping OFF point. I'll miss some things here and there but not enough to stick around. The prices of the book and all the oneshots and minis in connection have just turned me off and I don't really want to buy them anymore.

Eh, I only read A:TI and Mighty, so the Avengers are just fine for me.

The X-Men are a bunch of morally bankrupt a**holes to me at this point, so I have no interest in them. It was bad enough when Cyclops was a *****e and Emma was maybe backsliding into her evil ways, but now Warren regains his metal wings and decides, rather than try to figure out how it happened and how to fix himself, he's just going to indulge his murderous impulses with absolutely no remorse on X-Force? That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Until Warren's not a bloodthirsty murderer anymore, my stance on the X-Men is as follows: f*** 'em.

That said, I still like certain characters and am looking forward to Beast in SWORD and Havok, Polaris, and the rest of the Starjammers in whatever cosmic titles they pop up in from time to time.

I was thinking. When Deadpool had to inject himself with Hulks blood back in Joe Kelly's run, shouldn't that of granted Deadpool some Hulk like effects? Super strength or something?

I imagine it would just grant him some gamma radiation poisoning. The Hulk's power comes from something unique to the makeup of Banner's body, not necessarily his blood.

Yeah, the Abomination poisoned Betty with his own similarly irradiated blood, and all it did was kill her (or put her into a coma, depending on the writer).
