I want the classic lineup too but I don't think that the idea of more than one female action lead is unworkable or detrimental in any way. The classic JLA lineup just happens to have only one female. But that doesn't mean Wonder Woman has to be the only female character involved in the story or in action scenes.

I do not think this movie is ever happening.I would start with Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Wonderwoman. It may be interesting to throw in Hawkgirl too.

I wouldn't want Hawkgirl and I would want Aquaman involved.

They could throw in Green Arrow and Black Canary in a sequel...

But I think the original 7 is MORE than enough characters to service in one film.

This film is gonna happen people! Don't stop believing!

And in terms of female characters, they can be villains too.

In order for it to feel like a real "league," I'd say there would have to be at least five members. Anything less would be more like a squad. So, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Flash are obvious choices. I'd like to have Marty Manhunter in there, too, and maybe a dose of Aquaman, but seven heroes seems like too big of a task for a movie that would probably be only about two hours.

Robinov just said he wants Justice League and Flash after GL, Batman III and Superman.

So there is hope a JL movie may materialize.... just NOT this one, thank goodness.

Like in the comics, each member doesn't have to be there the whole time. "A dose of Aquaman" is a good way of putting it, in that they can ask for his help in all matters aquatic (hehe), so he isn't there the entire time, but when they need him. Someone like Martian Manhunter can be the catalyst, say he were to arrive on Earth at the time. They can figure out a way to incorporate all original members without it being so cumbersome. If all seven are involved they should be given individual attention and be there for a purpose, instead of them just being there and us wondering why they didn't do more etc.

The vast majority of action movies are that way:

Inception
Lord of the Rings
Star Wars
Transformers
The Matrix

Movies with multiple female action leads are few and far between, and I defy you to find any good ones. This is not a woman issue, but a male perception issue. I don't see it going anywhere, either.
Aliens
X-Men 1 and 2
I disagree with you on the JL movie.
It would have been the first time we'd seen the greatest superheroes together on screen with a good story taken straight out of the comics, with a hero dying and another taking his place (a novelty for superhero movies) and another loved one being pushed to kill someone. A strong storyline. And as icing on the cake Weta costumes and make-up.
I may agree they were not so fanboy-savy with their casting choices, but perfection is not fro this life.
Now that this information has come out...I don't know how I feel. The tidbits here and there previously posted sounded like they could have added up to a cool film...but this new "ultra-gory, ultra-violent" JLA movie sounds...wrong.
Secondly, it would've been just a stand-alone film with no hints in other DC films or anything. This might be the reason behind Marvel Studios' current Avengers build-up by crossing-over certain films with one another in advance, which is a GENIUS move on their part.
You'd think so, but no. Why? They bumrush the films pretty heavily. Iron Man 2 just felt like an stop-gap/extended trailer for The Avengers. Which, given the confirmed involvement of so many SHIELD agents, is what it was.

I don't know how ultra-violent or ultra-gory JL Mortal would've been. I don't think it would've been rated R. It's just that the story involved killing, superpowered fights etc. like the comic storyline it was based on. Baruchel also seemed like he was talking it up.

Yeah, and that's another thing. I don't remember his name popping up for any of the roles. I thought Adam Brody was Flash? Who else could Baruchel possibly have been cast as? And how much of what he's said was just fanboy generating hype for what could have been?

I don't know...maybe we did dodge a bullet. Maybe it could have been great. We'll never really know.

Baruchel was slated to play Maxwell Lord.

Adam Brody and Anton Yelchin were going to play Barry Allen and Wally West (Flash).

There was never any confirmation that Anton Yelchin was going to be in the movie. I also remember seeing pictures of Adam Brody sporting red hair when he was in Australia, indicating he was going to play Wally West. If he was supposed to be Barry Allen wouldn't he be dying his hair blonde? I just wish the concept art for the costumes and action scenes are released someday.

Nope. Adam was chosen for Barry. Porter was one of the finalists for Barry and Brody beat him out.

Yechin was Wally.

DJ Cotrona was Superman, Hammer as Batman, Common as GL, Megan Gale as WW, and Santiago Cabriera as Aquaman.

Teresa Palmer was the other villain Talia.

Anton Yelchin did confirm he was a part of the movie in a Collider interview he gave last year:

How much hesitation for you was there signing onto two franchises that could possibly film back-to-back for the next foreseeable future?

Yelchin: When I had signed onto “Star Trek” there was no “Terminator” so it was kind of like “sure I’ll do this. This sounds great! Hell yeah, I’ll do it”. It is something you have to take a business consideration you have to take in because there might not be room to make the other movies, but other than that I was kind of like, you know, we’ll be lucky if we make more movies so let’s just make this one and hope it turns out great. And then suddenly “Terminator” came up and at the same time at that time they were going to be making a “Justice League” and that came up and I was like “Wow. There’s three now. ****.”

Right.

Yelchin: So “Justice League” ended up falling apart whatever-never happened...

And superherohype came out with that leaked list that turned out to be true. Then Brody was confirmed as the Flash in the LA Times (on Dec 7th 2007):

NEW JUSTICE LEAGUE CAST MEMBERS?

by SuperHeroHype

Nov 18th, 2007

Keep in mind that Warner Bros. has yet to reveal any cast members, but this is a list of names Superhero Hype! received over the weekend as to who might be cast in Justice League. Yes, we realize the much rumored Adam Brody is not listed here as The Flash. Our answer? We just don't know what's up, plain and simple:

Superman - D.J. Cotrona
Batman - Armie Hammer
Wally West/The Flash - Anton Yelchin
Aquaman - Santiago Cabrera
Iris - Zoe Kazan
Wonder Woman - Megan Gale
Talia al Ghul - Teresa Palmer
Green Lantern - Common

We must repeat, the above names are not confirmed. They might not be confirmed for a while, because a new article talking about the writers strike at The Hollywood Reporter says that Justice League might not be as sure of a thing as it seems:

At Warner Bros., "Justice League of America" finds itself without a shooting script and has options expiring on potential actors who recently were screen tested. As a result, it might have to postpone production.

What an awful casting choice...

Oh yeah...now I remember...

Hugh Keays-Byrne the guy who played The Toecutter in Mad Max was supposedly cast as Martian Manhunter also.

Sounds like Miller would've gotten it COMPLETELY wrong. First of all, a "gory" Justice League film? Fans would've been rioting in the streets over that.

I find this extremely entertaining, especially since, at the time, the riots were because JLM was going to be too cartoony, too Super Friends, and not dark enough. Now it's the opposite?

Aaaaand it's happening. Or is it?

Poni has been right before.... but its hard to see this as fact... especially with them finally getting Supes up to Bat(No Pun Intended :hehe:)

WHAT?! That's like having an Avengers movie without Captain America and/or Iron Man!!!!!!

Can that really be true? I'm thinking it's just a rumor, that's such a blatantly terrible idea.

It's not true.
To those who think this is a good idea....
