Think about three big blockbusters from 1977, all of them expensive and well-done: Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Spy Who Loved Me. That is the level of movie-making that would have made JL (from 78 or 79) true justice. Not some cheap and dumb television show....

Superman the (1978) Movie would have been the contemporary superhero template and high-water mark that decade.
Although the cast of characters (not the actors) the actual character choices would have probably been similar to that TV show, plus Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, and minus that old guy. i.e. Satellite era.
Like Bond, the movie's Batmobile at the time probably would have been redone more derivative of that era's Batmobile and the 77 Lotus too.

When I think Martian Manhunter, I think Peter Mensah (he got kicked down a well in 300). He's got a really cool voice similar to MM from the JL cartoon, he's big, and his facial features would work well for the character. Also, he'd bring some of that needed diversity to the cast.

Snap, yeah Mensah would be great! I loved him in Spartacus!

In this alternative reality, there would not have been any Donner-Reeve-Superman.
The comparison between Bond's Lotus and the batmobile is something that crossed my mind too. It has gadgets and even works underwater.
I also think that the batsuit could be just as well-done as Darth Vader's outfit. Black leather instead of the Adam West costume.

In The Spy Who Loved me, water can be said to be a major player. Already there, we have an Aquaman connection. They could learn how to make Atlantis from the underwater scenes and also have Stromberg's home, both exterior and interior, as inspiration for the buildings there (I guess Kubrick doesn't visit the set during night, this time).
And what about other characters? I just recalled the laser weapon fight in the vacuum of space from Moonraker. It may be silly in a Bond film, but visually it would have worked very well in JL. Both the sounds from the firing guns and the green beams have a Green Lantern feel to them.

I just found a suggestion for the Flash in this film. A blond guy, unfortunately neither brittish or american. But he had a name back then. It's Terence Hill, and I think he could have been dubbed to not give Barry Allen an italian accent.

Just to be clear of confusion, I know who the original members of the JL are. I just made the roster more appropriate for film, so I took out Aquaman and Hal as Green Lantern. I drew a lot of inspiration from the JL animated series, so I used John Stewart instead of Hal.

Apologies if it is a little annoying to anyone that I linked a video rather then pics, its just I have to run and since I have the video uploaded I might as well just post that. For what it is worth, I uploaded it only four days ago and it already has over 500 views. It is getting a lot of praise also. :P

Damn, I'm sold! Winchester will make a great Orin. He's awesome in Camelot. Reynolds & Cooper... That's a movie I would pay to see right on the spot, especially as Green Arrow & Green Lantern!

I think that Wonder Woman and Aquaman could be really great additions to a Justice League movie. Wonder Woman has proven to be quite a bada** and I think she would be a great addition to the movie and really be something different than all the male heroes. What's so cool about the JLA is its diverse members and I think that Wonder Woman and Aquaman are essential to that. Even if they took out Aquaman and replaced him with say, Green Arrow or someone else, there needs to be a contrast of different heroes with different strengths - even if those characters appear to be lame at times. Plus, Wonder Woman would help pull in that female demographic of viewers and help the movie make more money and therefore raise the chances of a sequel (it's just a thought!)

I could see someone like Rhona Mitra taking on the role. I'm not saying I would necessarily cast her, but I could see someone like her in the role.

Since this is the League Geoff Johns will be promoting, it's likely to be the League pushed for the movies.

With something like the White Martians set up as antagonist/invaders & J'onn J'onzz joining in the end.
