I like Earth two, but after reading the comic and watching the animated movie i dont want any more. I'd like something else. I dont know what, but it better be something good. I'd probably go with Maxwell Lord.

Save the New Gods for the sequel. They re the top DC has to offer so they'd better not use them in the first one.
Well yeah but like i said, you have to suspend your disbelief and buy that somehow in a team with a guy faster than light itself, there's still guys for Batman to fight. Yeah it was a cartoon so a lot of times things werent perfect. Like... Batman tries to stall Kalibak until Superman arrives. He doesnt fight him, he just evades him and keeps him busy. The thing is that Kalibak is Darkseid's son, so he cant take on Superman and there's not an inherent weakness like kryptonite or fire that batman could use against him. Like i said, its a cartoon. Its epic, but sometimes it has its flaws of logic.
Yep!

Interesting ideas.

It was good but it wasnt THAT deep. In the movie it turns out that Owlman is the villain to everyone and i didnt like that. Nihilism is kind of stupid anyway.

In the comics the Crime Syndicate just wants to take over earth while the JL tries to save their world and they fail. They realise that in one Earth evil always loses and in the other it always wins. Good, but eh... I dont like when fate is supposedly some rule you cant break. "Here evil always wins". No, i dont like it.

I was talking mostly about the potential of the concept, and why it appeals to me, personally. I like the idea of using alternate universes to explore the nature of choices, determinism vs free will, and are we defined by our choices or our circumstances. That's what I would like to see done with the concept. As I said earlier, I love when science-fiction uses the science-fiction elements to explore deep, thought-provoking, philosophical questions.

They'll supposedly reboot after Nolan. Batman is too successful for them to keep in the sidelines. Nobody knows how the reboot will be though.

Probably.

I agree with the suggestion about batman vs Superman first. It would a cool thing to just focus on these two. Dark/light, bright/gritty, grand scale/small scale.

It should be one of the very last films to come out before JL. B vs S will be like a prequel that builds up to the team movie.

It could be interesting with another pairing too, before Man of steel and Dark knight work together. I have long seen the Green Arrow meets Green Lantern story quite interesting. How about it? Could it be the first pairing movie?

I agree that superheros' love interests should be respected and utilized in the movies. I am not particularly interested in the prospect of a SH movie with no love interest, because I don't see what is gained by having no love interest. However, I don't support the idea of making Wonder Woman into Superman's love interest for a JL movie, or any of the other League members for that matter. These characters all have well established love interests in their own franchises, and it would be stupid to conviniently ignore that just so you can have love interest within the team. All of them have their own lives outside of the League, and if you need a love interest in the JL movie then you can use one of the established ones that exists outside of crossovers.
They should focus on the bonds, friendships, and other issues between the heroes. They dont need to get them to ****. Besides we all know that SM and BM do it. :awesome:
Also, the Wonder Woman pairing with Superman has always annoyed me, because not only does it ignore the importance of their individual love interests, but it is also uncreative. They get paired together often because they have similar powers, and pairing characters who are similar is the preferred option of the lazy writer.
They also pair them because they have similar colours and somewhat similar M.O, being heroes that step into the light and inspire people and all that.
I think it's lame to romantically pair up superheroes just because they have similar powers. I have long stated that Wonder Woman should not be romantically involved with anyone in the Justice League, and ultimately she always ends up getting paired off with whoever the writer's favorite superhero is. Also, both Superman and Wonder Woman already have long running romantic interests, so why pair them up with each other?
I hate Trinity shipping too, but if its going to happen i think WW makes more sense with Batman.

I think Maxwell Lord is the way to go for the villain. Im thinkin he should be played by someone with a little star power, maybe a comeback role for Tom Cruise? He could be backed by Amanda Waller's shady government hookups.

If Ryan Reynolds doesnt return for JL I say definitely use John Stewart instead. Played by Anthony Mackie.

Please God, no Tom Cruise. No, no, no, no, no. Anyone else. No.

Would like to see John Stewart as GL. I like him more than Hal Jordan. Would they show some kind of transition from Hal to John, or just do a straight up reboot with Stewart as GL?

^ John Stewart will most likely be introduced in Green Lantern 2. If Ryan Reynolds decides not to play Hal Jordan in Justice League, they can simply use Stewart.

Batman - Jim Caviezel
Wonder Woman - Bridget Regan

I hope this never happens and all your dreams fail. (j/k) ;)

I was thinking about the Justice League movie, and I think it would be great to have the Project Cadmus subplot and the tension between the Justice League and the people they want to protect it represents from Justice League /Justice League Unlimited animated series, and possibly even the Justice Lords. It added a lot of depth to the story and it was realistic in a way that would really work for a Justice League film. Thoughts?

The Cadmus story was fantastic. They had all this screentime to develop it though, with the Lords, Luthor manipulating them and making them appear evil, Waller, and in the end Brainiac.

The league needs to form to fight a big enemy but the government cant react instantly and start plotting against it from the get go. You need to league to form and to perform a big display of power that would get the government worried. For example if Max Lord is in the first one and he mindcontrols some leaguers causing all kinds of shenanigans, then the government could start all this in the sequel.

Agreed. The Cadmus subplot really adds a lot of depth to the story that would really help the film's story to be more complex, smarter, and mature than just a simple "Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash are teaming up! Awesome!" kind of story. It can also add great tension and suspense to the story.
I would just hope that the writers wouldn't try to make them out and out villains and evil bastards (like the humans in James Cameron's AVATAR were), but rather just being somewhat distrustful of the Justice League, and with good reason.

The hard part is what the storyline should be, since there are so many storylines that can be done to make a great film. I definitely want something that is deep, and mature, for which there are still many choices, in the comics in terms of potential. For example:
  • Earth-Two: As I already mentioned before, alternate universes present an interesting way to explore the meaning of choice.
  • Project Cadmus: I think that, in-universe, the Justice League would be very unsettling. They have the power to destroy the world, and they aren't really accountable to the public directly, unlike our military, for example. What checks and balances are in place for a private organization of the world's most powerful people? If you disagreed with what they are doing, what could you do to stop it? The really interesting part is that the Justice League isn't trying to save us from Cadmus, Cadmus is here to save us from them. They maybe the only thing that could stop the Justice League from turning into the benevolent dictators (at best) that the Justice Lords are.
  • Tower of Babel: Though I am not a fan of the paranoid Batman in the original story, this one could be about trust and vulnerability in relationships. How much of ourselves should we reveal to others?

So if the movie is just about the Justice League forming to fight an alien invasion, I would be severely disappointed. I think one of the things people loved about The Dark Knight was that was about something on a symbolic and thematic level. It had depth, and had something to say about our world. A Justice League film has such potential to have that, and it would be a big disappointment if it's just the Justice League guys punching things.

I was just thinking the same thing. Would be great to have them chasing a "ghost" for most of the film... Luthor, or whoever is easiest to pin the problem on... Then when they finally get to Luthor he just laughs and says "He's coming." and cut to space where Braniac is nearing Earth... Muahahahaha

That might be interesting.

Great ideas guys. I like Project Cadmus in a Justice League sequel, after the League is established and deemed as a threat by the gov't. because of their unchecked power. The gov't. shouldn't be played as strictly evil, exactly. They are just as flawed as humans as the JL is.

The first Justice League should feature multiple villians, perhaps Joker, Luthor, and Brainiac (or some other combination) that all tie together into some bigger plot of evil (like Nolan did with Falcone, Crane, and Ra's in Batman Begins).

Agreed Godzilla. Alien invasion = pointless.

Posted this in another thread... some ideas I had for a GL cast. I included alternate names for Batman and Hal Jordan if they decide to start over there (though I hope they don't).

Superman: Henry Cavill
Batman: Christian Bale or Timothy Olyphant
Wonder Woman: Christina Hendricks
GL Hal Jordan: Ryan Reynolds or Nathan Fillion
GL John Stewart: Shemar Moore
The Flash, Barry Allen: Andrew Lincoln
The Flash, Wally West: Mark Paul Gosselaar
Aquaman: Ryan Phillippe
Martian Manhunter: Lance Reddick
Hawkman: Jason Momoa
Hawkgirl: Diane Kruger
Captain Marvel: Owain Yeoman
Green Arrow: Max Brown
Dr. Fate: Hans Matheson
Amanda Waller: Angela Bassett
Max Lord: Bradley Cooper

I know Cooper was just cast as The Crow, but I'm hoping that project falls through.

Thanks, Eddie! Thought on that one for a while. I tried to go with good actors that are recognizable but not huge stars. That way they wouldn't blow the whole budget on salaries.

Henry Cavill - Superman
Timothy Olyphant - Batman
Lynn Collins - Wonder Woman
Chiwetel Ejiofor - Martian Manhunter
Aaron Paul - The Flash / Wally West
Anthony Mackie - Green Lantern / John Stewart
Charlie Hunnam - Aquaman
Sarah Shahi - Zatanna
Joel Edgerton - Green Arrow
Katheryn Winnick - Black Canary
Damien Lewis - The Question
Bill Hader - Plastic Man
Karl Urban - Orion

I don't want to see too many characters here. Less is more. Should keep it to 5 or 6 max.
