Personally I thought that clip highlighted all the reasons why Gosling would be wrong for Bruce/Batman.

His voice is so nasal-y. I don't think he resembles any depictions of Wayne either, but I understand why that can be worked around (Keaton).

I know Gosling is against playing these types of superhero roles and has turned down all the past offers, but personally I think the only one he really fits is Barry Allen.

As far as RR as GL, he's done. That version of GL was a bomb. It's over. I couldn't be happier though. I always felt Reynolds was a complete miscast. The studio is dumb.

Cyborg? I'm very sketpical these DCnU changes will stick for very long. We've been down this road before with DC.

Its a work in progress I started a while ago. Not sure when i'll finish it so I thought I'd post it now.

Its a mock Wizard magazine article about an upcoming JLI movie.
Ask me about the casting if you cannot tell who is cast as who.

While I think he's a great option acting-wise and looks-wise, I generally agree about Gosling's voice. BUT Ryan Gosling's the type of actor who would pull a Heath Ledger and lock himself up in a hotel for a month to come up with the perfect voice for the character...and if Joaquin Phoenix can turn his even softer and higher-pitched voice into a decent Johnny Cash impression, surely Gosling could develop an intimidating Bat-voice. So the only really valid argument against him that I see at this point is that he simply wouldn't be interested. Which, let's face it, is a pretty legit argument.

But he did just do his first mainstream romantic comedy this year, and he was apparently interested in doing the Lone Ranger, so...maybe it's possible that he's at a crossroads with his career choices?

I like this except for Lord and I'd prolly get a more recognizable actor for Bats. Who's your choice for John Stewart

John Stewart is most like Anthony Mackie. I have an itch to put a better actor in there, someone like Mos Def would better capture the passionate/activist/architect side of John, which I feel is more interesting and relevant. But the 'good ol' soldier' fits better in an ensemble... but at the same time, if they have their own movie, the good ol' soldier charactrization just won't do for a fully fleshed out character.

Harrelson is a bit odd at the Lord post. A lot of fans cast Michael C Hall. If I had it do do over, I'd use a solid character actor.

-------

Superman, Clark Kent - Henry Cavill
It's been done. He's a great actor, really thorough, and he fits the part. Really no reason to change this. I don't even need to list the pictures, because we've all seen him AS Superman at this point. (Plus I can only put in 10)

Bruce Wayne, Batman - Karl Urban
I just kinda saw this yesterday and it hit me well. Somewhere after Chronicles of Riddick he became this great actor, and he has the darkness the brooding, the action experience, the whole thing. He can do this.

Diana, Wonder Woman - Jamie Alexander
Jamie's not the most accomplished actress, nor is she the ideal women that some feel is the only one good enough to play WW, but she has several really important things going for her: 1) She's believable hitting a grown man and knocking them down. No matter how much story super strength you give her, if you have a stick, it looks odd. 2) She's got experience with action and riggs and so on and so forth. 3) She loves the character. Period. 4) She looks like the character. 5) She's up and coming, with films like Loosies and Savannah, people know she can act very well, even if we haven't seen a lot of yet. Very little of this can be said of the 5'11 models and the busty tv stars that are often fan-cast.

Green Lantern John Stewart - Anthony Mackie
We've heard this name before for him, but it's a really solid casting. He's really talented, from the Hurt Locker to Notorius even way back in 8 Mile, and is one standout role away from being a big star. A sort of restart of the GL franchise, with him at the lead, could do very, very well. There's a lot of fan cry for the original 7, but I don't think you'll see a lot of the general clamoring to see Reynolds' Hal Jordan again. A new Lantern might be just what the doctor ordered.

Barry Allen, The Flash - Jake Gyllenhall
Again, another near A-lister, and for good reason. The idea is that the films leading up to Justice League would be stellar. Gyllenhall can carry a movie on his own, we all know that well. It'd be good to see him to it here.

THAT'S IT. The problem with a JL movie is that when you have more than 5 main heroes, you end up with either a villain with no development, or

Now, as much as I'd LOVE to see an alien invasion film, it's really hard to argue the simplicity and the usefulness of an OMAC-fueled Max Lord storyline here. This gives us two distinct advantages. 1) It's easier to explain/suspend belief for as an Earth-tech-based thing, which is important with so many high concept characters gadding about. 2) It provides only one villain that needs development, but that can be developed sufficiently. The power of an alien storyline would be the mind control turning heroes against each other. Max Lord can do that. The coolness of Batman resides in being equipped to take down the other heroes. Brother Eye addresses that issue. And with plenty of troops out in the open, it not only gives enough fronts for the entire league to battle on (some go after OMACs facility, some after Brother Eye, some after Max Lord), but it also gives a precedent for a superhuman protective force, that explains why the world, logistically, needs the League.

OMACs/Brother Eye - Voiced by Frank Welker
He can voice any and everything. Let it happen. In this story, the OMACs would be the canon fodder villain that starts problems for the beginning, and paints Batman as the villain at first.

Maxwell Lord - Jim Caviezel
This is the main bad guy, and he has to be psychologically able to contest all the heroes, if this is truly to be an ensemble piece, and not just a Superman-Batman movie sequel. You need someone who really has heft to them, and I'm not sure Michael C Hall can handle that. He could barely own the screen against Gerard Butler in Gamer. Having him fund the JL at first and play both sides against the middle could make him a fascinating villain.
jcaviezel.jpg

That said, I would probably cameo other heroes, as those who choose not to help found the league for whatever reason. This way you can set up the breadth of the universe, but without having to explain every little thing.

Michael C. Hall is a FAR better actor than Caviezel, imo. Gamer was awful all-around. Doesn't count. :oldrazz:

Superman: Henry Cavill
Batman: Ryan Gosling
Green Lantern: Anthony Mackie
Wonder Woman: Hayley Attwell/Christina Hendricks
Flash (Barry): James Franco/Jake Gyllenhaal

Maxwell Lord: Michael C Hall

If they go w/ an older Batman, I think Thomas Gibson from Criminal Minds looks the part.

As much as I love Ryan Gosling, he's definitely not Batman. He's too cool for Batman, he's not bad-ass enough.

Best Batman suggestions, imo, are (in order):

Although I find Fassbender to be a slightly better choice, Gosling isn't too far behind. He was plenty bad-ass in Drive, even if it was of the slick variety for the most part. Once he unleashed his inner sociopath, it was a very convincing turn.

And honestly, isn't it about time we get a Batman that people universally perceive as cool? Not someone to be easily mocked? That has been sorely lacking from every live-action Batman actor thus far.

But Batman isn't supposed to be cool, he's supposed to be bad-ass. That's why my number one pick for Batman would be Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Amazing actor with a very dark presence. Ever watched Supernatural? He's fantastic in it.

It'd be awesome if they were to cast Jim Caviezel as Superman in JL.

OK. I could see Caviezel as Batman or as Superman.

I don't get a Superman vibe at all from Cavill so I hope if WB does JL they find another actor. Someone mentioned Aidan Truner for Supes. I'd be cool with that. There are several other really good options for the JL Supes. Fingers crossed.

Though he's not a top choice of mine, I'd take Gosling over JDM any day.

Fassbender and Hamm for the win, though.

They're practically synonymous. I'm not advocating some weird transformation of the character akin to smoking cigs, spouting slick one-liners to the ladies, or a too-cool-for-anyone attitude.

Cool is very generic and can encompass so many attributes. Batman is most certainly cool in his own way. Any fan would attest to that, and it's a large reason why he remains one of the most popular heroes today.

Superman: Hey Batman, want to help the Justice League out?

Batman: Pfftt, whatever.

Batman puts on a pair of sunglasses and speeds away on his motorcycle with two hot chicks making out in the side car.
