Yeah, Winick has a tendency of being rather good at first whenever he's on a book, but then he gets really old and stale and you want him to leave but he just keeps on staying and overstaying his welcome while you wish that Gail Simone takes over for him.

I'd totally read this if Gail Simone were writing. She's great, she's funny, and she's not anti-Connor in every way, as far as I know.

Who would've predicted a mere hairdresser would become one of DC's power-hitters? The love readers have for Gail Simone is astonishing.

That said, I'd love for her to take over this book.

She didn't. But she wrote the hell out of Black Canary in Birds of Prey, and what little of Ollie she wrote was quite competent. And she deeply respects Connor's martial arts abilities.

If there's anything I trust Gail Simone with, it's remembering the highest ranked martial artists in the DCU. She emphasized martial arts in a few of her Birds of Prey stories, especially "Sensei & Student."

Gail Simone's run on the Birds of Prey was brilliant and great.
Now, the Green Arrow/Black Canary is a joke! I liked it at lot at first, I was thinking later that maybe the lack of quickness was part of Winick's plan ... but it doesn't seem! It's boring, boring, boring. I think Winick is ruining Black Canary potential, potential that G.sSimone put so much time to build. I bought the book for B.C. in the first place, and then because I like Ollie ; but come on, Ollie has never been so 2-Dimensionnal.The UK trip was a good idea, the shot at Connor too, but come on, what the hell is this now ? I plan to stop this book. I didn't ordered issue 12. I'll see.

Thats not going to happen unless Dinah and Ollie get divorced.

I've heard she was asked to write the title but turned it down for that reason.

Which is a shame. She'd make a great Green Arrow writer while she's proven she knows how to make Black Canary relevant.

Not that this suits only this title. They could put her on any title at DC and I'd buy it no questions asked.
