.Screen name: Syn

.Character you wish to portray: Barbara "Babs" Gordon, soon to be "Batgirl".

.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Stripper. Professional.

.Powers and physical attributes: Skilled gymnast, versed in martial arts, and genius intellect (photographic memory, detective skills).

.Origin and backstory (as you see it):

Barbara goes to Gotham Heights High School (GHHS). Throughout her life, all Babs has known is police work, school work, and gymnastics. Her father always made it a priority that Barbara knew how to fight, living in the city they live in, knowing how to protect oneself was always a priority. From a young age, Barbara also learned the life a police officer through her father, gaining many skills and learning many tricks of the trade along the way.

Pushed into it by her mother at a young age, Barbara became one of her city's best gymnast, competing in various competitions and continuing throughout high school, even branching off and joining the cheerleaders.
After her mother's death and the discovery of her father's affair, a gap formed between her and her father. As Gordon became busier and busier with work, the relationship between him and his daughter severed even more.

Being a member of the popular crowd of her school, Babs found a niche among her peers. The less time she spends at home, for her, the better it is. However, as of late, her feelings of emptiness have begun to grow, and she feels like there's something more for her out there: but what?

Oh, and as an update: Her brother's dead. Haha.

.The burning question - Why this character?: Why not?

.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: She'll be at ends with her dad, instead of close to him. Rebelious in many ways, but still with a good heart, Barbara will grow into a fine hero of Gotham. I also hope to make her teen life just as important as her soon to be crime fighting life, working them together in an even mesh.

.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Spandex.

Barbara Gordon's Diary
November 12, 2009

Right, so here I am, in my room, on another sleepless Saturday night resting my head on a wet pillow, crying my eyes out, as I write this down with shakey fingers. It's been four days since it happened. Four long days of grueling mourning, thinking about it over and over again in my mind. My brother is dead - and he's never coming home.

As I continue to let the warm tears cascade down my cheeks, my mind delves deeper and deeper into the thought that Jimmy's body now lies six feet below Gotham Cemetary's grass, beginning to rot away as his soul resides somewhere else in the universe. The more I think the harder I cry - this is real, it's not a dream.

As I roll over to my side I try to take my mind off of him, off the silly expression I invision of his face. I try to think of other things in my life, but as I do, nothing works. I just replay that day over and over - remembering the screams, the terror, the mercilous evil that took hold of my home. I can't believe I have the stomache to stay here anymore - for that matter, how can dad? As I begin to think of my father, my veins begin to boil in anger. Why, you might ask? Oh, no reason. Except at the funeral for Jimmy... he wasn't there. My father wasn't at my brother's, his son's funeral. No, no. I'm fine with that, really. It's cool.

My agony is the present, right now. My bitterness is a feeling that is second only to my grief. But, as they say, there is a time for mourning. This is that time. I'll pay my respects, I'll say my prayers as I lay Jimmy's memory to rest in my mind. But my sorrow will not last forever. No, I've seen the face of the evil that does these acts. I'm tired of crying, sick of burying the people I know and love.

Before Jimmy died, I was beginning something, starting something great - something I thought would protect the ones I care for. But it wasn't ready, I wasn't ready. ... and now Jimmy's dead. Am I to blame? Probably not. But I take the guilt of his murderer, take the burden of his death. Forgive me, Jimmy... I'm sorry I wasn't ready... sorry I let you die. Forgive me, Jim. Forgive me...

To you, too.

(Jesus, this really is the Ultimate Gotham RPG. :o:csad:)

When I apply for Ult. Bizarro, he's going to be a GCPD detective. He'll be a rude transvestite who berates his coworkers, but he'll have a heart of gold.

Character Application

.Screen name:
Eddie Brock

.Character you wish to portray:
Detective Selina Kyle / Holly Robinson

.Hero, villain, or walking the line?:
Hero

.Powers and physical attributes:
No powers, but Selina has all the training required of a Gotham City police officer. As such, she's well-trained in combat and firearms - though she rarely uses the latter. For Selina, staying at top form can often be a matter of life and death.

.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Selina Kyle grew up in a broken home. Her father and mother split not long after she was born, a fact that causes Selina to shoulder some of the blame. When her alcoholic father, Brian Kyle, dies of alcohol poisoning, Selina comes into the permanent care of her mother, Maria. Times were tough for the Kyles, and Maria resorted to prostitution - not only to feed her child, but also to feed a growing addiction to heroin. Having no place else to go, Maria brought her clients back to her dingy apartment. Selina was too young to understand the truth, but she knew that she didn't like the men that her mother was bringing home. This, added to her resentment of her father for "leaving," laid the foundations of a lifetime of distrusting men.

After her mother overdosed on heroin, Selina was put into the foster care system. From then on, she lived a relatively normal life, but she was always haunted by her past. Selina frequently changed families because she came at odds with the men trying to be a father figure for her. Selina finally found peace with an older woman, Irena Dubrovna, who had an affinity for cats. She went to school, participated in gymnastics, and matured.

As a result of her rough childhood, Selina felt a calling. She joined the Gotham City Police Department, in hopes of ridding the city of the evils that plagued her early life. Shortly after joining the force, Selina was made an undercover officer in the Vice Unit. Selina worked for almost a year with Vice, posing as a prostitute to help bring the industry and its clients down. Her exceptional work in this field merited her a far more important - yet far more dangerous - job.

Selina was assigned to infiltrate the Maroni crime family. Her new identity was Holly Robinson, a woman from a well-to-do Brooklyn family. The guise worked like a charm, and after a brief courtship, Selina became Salvatore Maroni's trophy girlfriend. She's been undercover for almost two years now, but the case against Maroni hasn't gotten much stronger. Selina's fellow officers don't respect her, which motivates her to work even harder to bring Maroni down to prove herself.

Recently, Edward Nygma has been hired to tail Selina on Maroni's request. However, Nygma - being a police officer himself - already knows why Selina has been acting strangely.

.The burning question - Why this character?:
The idea came to me suddenly, and as I discussed it with Master Bruce, I found I liked it more and more. I've always toyed with the idea of playing Catwoman, but I've never known what to do with her when I'm not working with Batman. Now, I finally have that something. In fact, it's almost what I'm looking forward to more.

.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
First and foremost, Selina is a cop. This departure from the norm completely changes her dynamic. Rather than overtly trying to topple organized crime as Catwoman, she's working much more subtly. Her past is very similar, although it's been modified to make her motivations and dislike of men stronger. While I anticipate her relationship with Batman will not change greatly, her relationship with Bruce Wayne will.

.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
Reliability and excitement. I still don't know where I "rank" in terms of quality, but I'd like to think that - at the very least - my stories are interesting, if not always superbly written.

.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:

"HOLLY!" Sal barks. "HOLLY!" I slink into the dining room. The eyes of Sal's associates immediately turn to me. Then, as usual, they immediately drop to my chest. I do my best to ignore them as I smile pleasantly. Men are pigs. "Would you take care of this thing, please?" Sal asks irritably, motioning to the curled-up black figure on the table before him.

I say nothing as I cross the dining room to where Sal's sitting. I pick up the cat, Ebony, and glance at the men surrounding Sal. Their faces aren't familiar to me.

"Take it for a walk or something," Sal grumbles. He waves his hand dismissively when I try to kiss him on the neck.

I retort, "She, Sal, she. Not it." He rolls his eyes. "And she's a cat. You don't walk cats."

"Whatever!" Sal replies, his temper increasing again. "Just get it out of here." As I'm walking out, I hear him say to his associates, "Never buy your lady a cat. God, I hate the thing."

Ebony purrs as I pet her gently. "It's okay, baby."

THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application

.Character you wish to portray: Floyd Lawton, codename Deadshot

.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Villain

.Powers and physical attributes: Accuracy

.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Floyd Lawton was born a normal boy, living a normal life in his hometown with his family. Of course, his normalcy didn't last very long. One day, Floyd got into an arguement with a boy at his elementary school. The boy claimed Floyd took his pair of scissors, calling him a thief, among other names. Deciding to resolve the conflict himself, Floyd returned the stolen impliment by shoving it into the other student's neck. Floyd was arrested and tried in court, but the jury found that he wasn't compentant of his actions. Instead, they sent him to a psychiatric facility where he was evaluated for a month. During that time, he severely beat another patient over some nontrivial issue. It was then the doctors realized that Floyd was not such a normal child.

After a few years, Floyd was diagnosed with mania, classifying him as a sociopath with a detachment from people and and the dissability to discern between right and wrong. They kept Floyd under close supervision at Red Shadows Asylum for many years.

Sixteen years later, a new proprieter took control of Red Shadows as part of a buyout in a business deal. Maxwell Lord, rising entrepeanur and millionaire tycoon, began reviewing the patients at Red Shadows Asylum. It wasn't long before Lord came across the profile of Floyd Lawton. Finding an oppurtunity too good to pass up, Max took special interest in Floyd and decided to use him in his endeavors.

Now, Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot as classified by Lord, is used as a mercenary for hire. Maxwell Lord rents Floyd out to the highest bidder, sending him along with his handlers to do whatever task the buyer asks. In return, Floyd gets the opportunity to satisfy his bloodlust and enjoy life, having the ability to breath in fresh air and be out in public, a freedom his commitement to the Asylum would not regularly allow.

As far as the world knows, Floyd Lawton continues to recieve treatment at Red Shadows Asylum - but the underworld has a different knowledge. They know Lord rents one of the best assassins in the business - and they're all lined up to pay the pricetag.

.The burning question - Why this character?: Deadshot is awesome, in my opinion. I played him last time and I want to play him again. But this time - with a twist.

.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Before Floyd was an apathetic merc who didn't care if he lived or died. My Floyd is a murderer, a psychopath who's only desire is to kill. Should be interesting...

.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Smokes.

Metropolis; city of prestige, power, and opportunity. Inside its harbor, a city envied by many resides, bustling with the busy tasks of its many venues. A hero watches over this city, monitoring its activities from the skies with a protective eye. He saves those in danger, thwarts crime, and keeps order as best he can. But no man is perfect; no man omniscient of all that takes place. Even some things escape the eyes of the sentinel of liberty.

Suicide Slums - an old run down building by the harbor, a man breathes heavily as he runs up a never ending flight of stairs. His feet hit each metal step hard as he thrust his body upward, hoping to escape from this metal cage alive. He rises through the building, going up flight after flight, hoping to reach a safe sanctum.

After a few moments of frantic sprints, the man soon reaches the top floor, a small platform only a foot wide leading to a locked door. The man drops his shoulder and begins pounding into the door, thrusting with all his weight and might to break in the thick steal door. He tries with everything he has, ramming himself against the door hoping for a miracle. After minutes of futile effort, he soon collapses, weary and tired. He rubs his shoulder gently, hoping to sooth the burning pain from the bruise that is most likely beginning to form.

As he sits in the silence, he hears something, a terrifying noise that makes his heart drop down into his gut. Listening closely, he focuses on the repeative sound, the "pit-pat" of footsteps as his stalker walks up the stairs closer and closer toward him. "No..." he says with a gasp, knowing what is coming for him. He tries to rise to his feet, tries to force his body to move so he has some kind of chance for escape - but he is weak, his body is spent, and the pain in his shoulder seems to be the final nail in his coffin.

As the footsteps grow closer, the man simply watches the stair case, seeing the figure as it comes into view. "Oh, no...please...no..." he says wearily, leaning back against the metal door as the figure reaches the last few steps. Suddenly, the figure stops, standing only feet in front of the man. He stares at him, eyes heartlessly examining his prey as the rest of his body remains stiff like a statue.
"Please," the man pleads, shaking his head slowly back and forth. "I-I'll pay the money. I'll pay him, I swear. I'll get Hansin the money - I will, I promise I will. Please, just let me live." As tears of fear begin to roll down the man's face, his attacker simply stares at him - cold and lifeless, devoid of emotion of compassion.
"Tell me, Mr. Right," the figure suddenly speaks. He takes a step closer, inching toward the man as he cowers in terror. "What did you expect would happen when you reached the top floor?" The man's mouth drops as he ponders the question, realizing how futile his efforts at escape really were.

Smoothly, the attacker reaches to hip and slips his hand into his pocket. As he pulls his hand out, he reveals something held carefully between his fingers - a credit card, its silver exterior shimmering in the dull light. "Here," the attacker says heartlessly as he shows the piece of plastic to his target. "I believe this is yours." Suddenly, his fingers twitch, and the card flies from his hand. Before a breath can be made, the thin rectagular object flies through the air, its edge brushing perfectly by the man's neck, severing the skin and the artery that lies just beneath the surface.

escapist-trailer-hd-081.jpg

The man coughs only once, his eyes rolling back into his head before he can raise his hands to the wound. Blood begins to flow from the slit, trickling down his moist neck and down past the collar of his shirt, wetting the fabric and causing a red stain. As the attacker watches, two men in black suits rise up the stairs to meet him.

"Alright, Floyd," one of the men says. "Good work."
"Yeah, Hanson said he finished the transfer this morning. Job's finished."
The man stays silent, only staring at the bloody neck of his victim. "Hey, Floyd, did you hear me?"

Suddenly the man turns, simply moving his neck as he looks over his shoulder, the rest of his body remaining still. "Now it's back to the cell, right?" He asks with a sneer, his white canines reflecting a soft glow as the light glistens off his saliva.

"Nah, man." One of the men says with a smile. "Mr. Lord called us a few minutes ago. Looks like we've got a new buyer." The killer smiles, the skin of his cheeks rising high to reveal a satisfied grin.
"Oh boy," he speaks, the emotion of his words seeming forced. "Let's hope the next one can actually put up a fight."
