Spin the wheel! Trying for the extra money never comes back to bite you in the ass.

Best Hero: Superman (Spike_x1)

Everyone who knows me knows that the only Superman I enjoy is the ridiculously over the top, retro-Silver Age incarnation, and that I absolutely loathe a lot of the things that Byrne did to the character. So the fact that Spike took the essence of my least-favorite interpretation of Supes and is turning out arcs that I always look forward to reading is a real testament to his abilities.

Big ups also go to MB's Batman, and Byrd's Flash.

Best Villain: The Joker (Johnny Blaze)

JB's taken some seriously ballsy moves with the Joker so far, but it's not only worked, it's worked like gangbusters. This is a villain I could definitely see going toe-to-toe not only with Batman, but with the rest of UDC's top-of-the-line heroes as well (which wouldn't be too much of a stretch since they all freaking live in Gotham apparently)

Best 'Walking The Line': Edward Nygma (Byrd Man)

There are some things about the Ultimized DC Universe that I love, and some...not so much. Chief among the things I don't like is Jim Gordon being a morally questionnable tyrant. But one of the things that I absolutely love the hell out of is the re-imagining of the Riddler into a hardline obsessive sleuth determined to dig up whatever he can on the Commissioner. It's quite the interesting little arc, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Best "Ultimized" Character: Alan Scott (Belvedere)

If you'd have locked me in a room for ten years with nothing but a pen and a notebook and told me to come up with alternate versions of Alan Scott, I know for a fact that I would never have come up with a version as unique and interesting as Bel's. Mainly because after a few days I would have died from starvation and dehydration, but you get what I mean.

Best Character Development: Batman (Master Bruce)

There's probably nobody else I know who can actually get into the nuts and bolts of what makes Batman work quite like MB can, even if it's a self-destructive near psychotic incarnation of him. Right from the start, the dueling identities of Bruce and Batman have been shifting around in the poor guy's head, calling into question elements of the character I never would have even thought of, like the kind of impact that someone like that would have on Dick Grayson's impressionable mind. Easily one of the most three-dimensional portrayals I've ever seen of a character who is all too often written off as 'scowl, speak in gritty monologue, then punch a guy' over and over.

Best Post: Death of Black Mask

I honest to God did not see this coming; I figured Mask was going to be a mainstay fixture in the UDC universe. Kudos for throwing me for such a loop.

MVP (Most Valuable Player): Master Bruce

He's the guy who holds this damn thing together. He's the guy I bounce all of my insane ideas off of, only to come away with even more insane ideas for later. This may come off as me having a big gay man-crush, but if there's one thing that can get me looking forward to arcs I don't even want to do, it's getting to work with MB.

With that last post I'm dropping Ultimate Aquaman and therefore leaving the Ultimate DC RPG. See ya around, guys.

EDIT: Also, I noticed that a new page was made for the New UDC RPG on the SHH RPG Wetpaint site. I went ahead and updated the Ultimate Aquaman & Atlantis page so that enough information is available should anyone want to pick him. Hopefully if he is picked up he won't suffer what he suffered in Seasons 1.0 and 2.0 of the previous UDC RPG. I think I've set a firm foundation but with another wiggle room for future writers.

NOOO!! Come back! We have sex and cinnamon buns that we've been saving for you!

Wait, what? There are sex and cinnamon buns? I only got one of those and I really didn't enjoy it. BTW, a post is coming soon. I had to type a research paper and those take a bit of time.

With the Blackest Night story and most of the PC GLC's seemingly abandoned, I've plotted out my version of how the arc will end, freeing and setting up some Green Lanterns and their mythologies for future seasons. To help me realize this, I've decided to try this character once more with the certainty that I can actually post this time...

. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application

.Screen name: Batman

.Character you wish to portray: Ultimate Hal Jordan

.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero

.Powers and physical attributes: No powers on his own. Hal is a normal human male with experience as a pilot for the United States Navy, a street-smart brawler, and an adept tactician. When endowed with the alien Lantern Corps' power ring, however, Jordan is granted the abilities of energy manipulation, flight, and being able to form constructs based off of his own personal willpower and imagination.

.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Driven by the death of his father during adolescence, Henry 'Hal' Jordan worked to follow his dad's footsteps and became a pilot for the US Air Force, earning both top honors and criticism for his brash decisions and daredevil antics. But Jordan's life took an unexpected turn when he was chosen by the alien police force known as The Galactic Lantern Corps, offered the chance to become a Green Lantern corpsman. Hal accepted, though at the cost of his marraige to longtime love Carol Ferris, and soon proved himself worthy to make rank.

But a month after being inducted, Hal left the Corps in disgust, retiring his rank and ring for a variety of reasons. Though he suffered harsh bigotry from his fellow Corpsmen for being from Earth, following the dark turn of another human Lantern in William Hand, Hal revealed that it was ultimately his human desire to rejoin the life he had lived on Earth that caused him to resign. Seeing it as a weakness and unworthy of their Corps, The Guardians immediately accepted Jordan's resignation, instead giving his ring to a young cadet named Kyle Rayner.

Taken back to Earth, Jordan was again driven to do the impossible - try and salvage his marraige, his career, and his life in general after turning away from it for reasons that no one would ever believe. But while his turmoil to rebuild his life continues, unbeknownst to Hal, the threat of a Blackest Night falls upon his former squadron...

.The burning question - Why this character?: A number of reasons, despite my own reservations about picking up another hero. But mainly, I did this because it was a story I felt I had to tell. My first attempt to apply for Hal in here was little more than an impulsive need to be apart of the GLC - it was uninspired and careless. And when I began searching for a third character to embark on, the reasons behind most of my choices felt the same. But the idea of taking a character like Hal Jordan, who's almost always portrayed as bigger than life, and starting him off with a 'behind the mask' story appealed to me. It allows me to delve into who he is when he's not wearing the ring, and forces me to make him as interesting as I can... before I throw him straight into the action.

I've also grown to really love the Green Lantern mythos, in the past couple of years. Geoff Johns' stellar work being the obvious example for that, Hal Jordan's become one of my favorite characters in the DCU, among the ranks of what I believed to be the previously untouchable Superman and Flash. I hope to reflect that in my arc, aswell as more than a couple of nods to science fiction in general, with the Star Wars and Star Trek films being big inspirations for this arc's conception.

.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: With all of the asthetic differences already established between the DCU GLC, and the Ultimate GLC, I think it'd just be easier to explain how this Hal is the same. He'll still be dealing with the death of his father. He'll still be trying to prove himself beyond just a 'rookie'. He'll still be letting everyone he cares about down, at first. And he'll still be trying to do what's right as a Green Lantern. What won't be the same is a key part of the DCU Hal Jordan - that he's, above all else, fearless. I'm actually taking him a bit in the opposite direction... because at this point in his life, Hal has alot to fear. It's his incredible willpower that has always remained his strongest characteristic, so that's going to be the force that'll lead him out of this dismal road he's been travelling on.

.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: A fandom and a knowledge of recent GL storylines, which have more or less been the sole inspiration behind the Ultimate Corps established so far. I also like to think that I can handle the task of continuing on with the abandoned Blackest Night story, being a massive fan of that series so far.

.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:

"You said you've broken the sound barrier how many times?"

Hal Jordan smirked. After only twenty minutes, he had managed to deduce that the blonde infront of him was about as clueless as a turkey during Thanksgiving season. But god... that smile of her's. The minute he saw it from across the bar, he honestly couldn't think of a better way to spend his night than leaving here with her.

Pretending to count off in his head, Hal looked back at her, certain of his answer. "Three times. Well technically, two... but the air force doesn't necessarily jot down any test flights on a man's record."

The blonde widened her eyes, seemingly impressed. "Gosh. And you left all that behind?"

"Nah, you never leave something like that behind. I just got assigned to another unit."

Jordan chuckled, at the thought. The woman didn't know the half of it. "Insurance technicality, and soforth. After awhile, they couldn't really afford to have me. It's really just a long, boring story that I'm sure you wouldn't want to hear..."

She leaned in closer, an inviting look on her face. "Oh, but you're wrong, Mr. Jordan. I'd absolutely love to hear it."

Hal was speechless, but without a second thought, he was also more than eager to oblige. Leaning closer to her himself, Jordan instantly returned her sultry expression.

"On one condition. We pick up the conversation at my place."

The blonde giggled, obviously intoxicated, but still trying not to spill her martini. "It's a deal. Let's go."

The smile on Hal's face couldn't get any wider. Yep. Still got it.

Gracias.

Roster updated. Unfortunately, now without an Aquaman. :csad:

I was planning on posting that tomorrow, but I'm travelling today and not sure if I can trust my net connection tomorrow.

You guys really do know how to make a man feel loved.

I've been gone a while (because of a **** lot of reasons: new college, my internet ****ed up, general laziness), but it's nice to see I've not been forgotten just yet.

Character Application

.Screen name: Catman_prb

.Character you wish to portray: Ethan Bennet

.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero

.Powers and physical attributes: A keen deductive mind

.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Originally a lieutenant in the GCPD Major Crimes Unit, Bennet came too close to uncovering traces of corruption in the upper tier of the force. He ignored the death threats that he received from his co-workers, up until the point where evidence was planted that incriminated him in the corruption. He handed in his badge and retired from the force, instead finding a place at Slam Bradley's Detective Agency.

.The burning question - Why this character?: After all the anti-hero's and villains I've played, I'm interested in playing a genuine hero.

.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well he's not a character in regular continuity, only from the Batman...but he'll be off the force, so that's different I suppose.

.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Pineapples

.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:

"I knew him," Ethan said, looking down at the corpse on the slab.

"I'm sure you did, kid," Slam said, smoking a cigar as the coroner shuffled through a series of folders and files.

"O'Hara wasn't a bad guy. Not really. Not like Gordon or Essen," Bennet said, tapping his fingers on the table.

So now due to some random murder, O'Hara's wife and kids were going to have to support themselves. It was a shame, because the widow O'Hara had already hired Bradley's agency to hunt down the murderer, even though the cops were already on it. It seemed that the stories about the GCPD had filtered through the system quite far.

"Got anything?"

"No. Let's go check out the crime scene,"

Ooh! I was just watching the first season of TB on DVD recently (there are some horrible episodes, but a few real gems too. Honestly not as bad as its reputation would indicate). I remember thinking that Ethan would be a neat character to bring into the UDCU.

Roster updated.

Had to add a second Heroes section to fit them all on. :O
