Oh and re: gaiety, the first thing I thought was that Warren can't be very comfortable wrapping his inner thighs around a huge chunk of ice like that.

He's wolverine dude, he can do whatever he wants. When cyclops becomes old an impotent[if he's not already], wolverine will still be banging chicks and still have time to star or co star in 5 books.

Well, this is more of an "X-Men" team, what with Wolverine on the roster.

I know, but the coloring bothers me a lot. It looks too...digital.

Probably. But it's the same problem I had with X-Treme X-Men. I'm really not too thrilled about photoshop, other than for editing manually colored material.

Yeah, that's a bit weird. The widespread consensus seems to be that digital coloring has vastly improved the look of comics. Although I still think hand-painted works like some of the Marvel OGNs and pretty much everything from Sienkiewicz still look awesome, too.

Any time there's a new digital technology, the widespread consensus always says that it's better than manual. Just like all those people who just loooove HDTV and think it's the best thing to ever happen to television.

Well, not exactly. I've seen comics that are entirely digital and, frankly, they don't hold a candle to a human being with a pencil and some talent. Rex Libris, for example. It's fun and all, but I always think it'd look better with pencils instead of all-digital art.

Eh, it was all right. I tend not to dig ultraviolence in mainstream superhero comics. I'm still uncomfortable with Cyclops not only condoning but actually embracing murder. I really wish we could've seen a bit more internal conflict from him over X-Force. Granted, he could continue to appear in the series and show some ambivalence about X-Force's methods over time.

Anyway, the issue itself was decent. Crain's art never looks that great to me--it always seems muddled. But there was lots of angst and lots of sharp things and lots of blood spilled, so I guess it succeeded in everything it set out to accomplish. I'll give it the rest of this first arc to convince me to keep reading.
