That's a bold claim. Care to defend it?
1. Its just an old-gen console with different controls
2. No good games, besides Mario and SSBB
3. The only other game that people want comes with the system(Wii Sport)
4. Xbox and PS3 are miles ahead in terms of games and technology

Basically, Wii is ****ed.

1. Controls that are 100% innovastive
2. Resident Evil 4, Bully: SE, LEGO Star Wars, Fire Emblem, Guitar Hero III, Legend of Zelda: TP...just to name a few
3. And you're basing that on?
4. That's b/c the Wii is made with only gaming in mind, which is what people want. Why do you think it's selling so well?

1. And? Its just a PS2 with motion control
2. All of which are available on older den systems.
3. That most people just want to play Wii Sports
4. But when that gaming is sub par to that of 360 or PS3 it will not last.

Sure the graphics lack, but let's face it, the Wii really isn't targeted towards hardcore gamers. Sure hardcore gamers can enjoy it, but it's real target is mainstream. It's a party machine anybody can pick up and flail their arms around like they forgot their riddlin and get into. The Wii will continue to do well because it hit that sweet spot of feeling high tech with motion sensing while being dirt cheap. Most of mainstream probably don't care about great games, they just want something to show off or play with friends. Of course it also hooks the Nintendo crowd, it has the manditory Zelda, Mario, and Smash games.

Like I said tho, Wii's not my taste so it's not a fanboy defense, it's just that the Wii isn't dying like ppl have been claiming for months. IMO both the PS3 and 360 are better bargains, they both do far more than gaming, and when it comes to gaming I just like the graphics, control, and gameplay on the PS3 and 360 over the Wii. However neither has the mainstream appeal of the Wii.

Gameplay aside, the fact that the Wii can be an impulse buy also works in its favour.

Most of ps3 and xbox 360 games are the same games you played 8-5 years ago with shoe polish.
Gameplay wise, not a whole lot has a changed.

EA's software is selling better on the PS3 than on the 360 and Wii for the year so far

Sony platforms dominated EA fiscal Q4 2008 sales

Electronic Arts has revealed in its Q4 2008 fiscal numbers that game sales for Sony platforms far outweighed its rivals across the three months, with the PlayStation 2 leading the way on USD 166 million of sales*, followed by the PlayStation 3 on USD 152 million.

The Xbox 360 managed USD 128 million of sales by comparison, with the Wii a relatively meagre USD 75 million - meaning that both Sony console platforms combined accounted for 61 per cent of all EA console titles sold in the three months to March 31.

In terms of year-on-year sales the PS3 numbers almost tripled, showing growth from Q4 2007 of 192 per cent, while the Wii's numbers doubled, the Xbox 360 added 56 per cent and the PS2 added 42 per cent.

Additionally, the PlayStation Portable was responsible for the largest revenue in the portable segment - USD 69 million in sales gave it a 47 per cent share, while mobile phone titles accounted for 28 per cent and the Nintendo DS for the remaining 25 per cent.

PSP title sales grew by 77 per cent year-on-year, outpacing the DS on 33 per cent and mobile titles on 14 per cent.

Meanwhile PC game sales slowed by 11 per cent year on year, generating USD 114 million in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Hm, let's see the haters spin that.
lol.....I was surprised since everyone tends to say the PS3's software doesnt sell and the majority of new systems for the year have been mainly used for BR. These numbers were surprising considering EA is one of the biggest US publishers. A 192% increase is pretty big. Good job Sony or better EA who's raking in the dough

Honestly anymore I try to stay out of talk like that cause I know it'll eventually turn into a fanboy debate. I mean if you like a system then enjoy it. However it did bug me when ppl kept bringing up 360 software sales and say things like, "Ha the PS3's just a BR player, look DMC4 sold more on the 360". I just feel like saying, "Duh, your comparing a system with around 10 million owners to a system with almost 20 million, I'd hope the 360 sold more software" lol.

As PS3 numbers rise there will be more customers to purchase games. I'm not saying it will have 360 attachment rates because some ppl do buy PS3's for BR players. However I will say just give it time, you can't compare software sales inbetween the two until the hardware #'s gap closes a bit more. I mean if the PS3 sold more copies of DMC when it was around 7 million or so PS3's out there than the 360 did with about 14 million 360's out there something is wrong.

Just gonna focus on 1&4, PS2 had the lowest specs of any of the last gen consoles, but still sold the best out of the three. Specs don't mean much if the games are fun. The fact that Wii is still the highest selling console and still hard to find proves the Wii isn't f'ed. How and why people are still trying to call Wii a fad amazes me, fads don't last this long.

Good point. The atari was competing against a better graphic console and beat it out, I always felt the Sega Mastersystems games looked better as well (loved spy vs spy on that heh), same with the PS1 as the Saturn had near equal specs and the N64 had superior specs and the PS1 still sold better. Not to mention things like the Atari Jaguar which had good specs for it's time and flopped, or the Sega Nomad which played 16 bit Genesis games in color on a portable device yet the black and white Gameboy owned it in sales too.

Superior hardware doesn't mean much if it doesn't have the games to back it. I think that's a large part why I like the Playstation brand and Nintendo so much. Nintendo puts out games with fun factor in mind over graphics, and the PS consoles have been home to more quirky and off beat fun titles than any other console IMO. When I first saw Parapa the Rapper the first thing to come to mind wasn't graphics, but I was hooked on it for a bit.

Well, how are the games selling and doing? Bad. The upcoming games for Wii are non-existent. If Wii wants to last they NEED third party support and maybe an upgrade with better graphics, more power(For shooters), and improved online.

I think the reason the PS2 did so well bc it had AMAZING 3rd party support. There was plenty to offer with the software and a wide variety. Nintendo, since the N64's days hasnt had great 3rd party support. Its biggest Wii games are all first party ones. The big 3rd party games it actually does get tend to be PS2 ports. I dont think the Wii is in any danger as it is selling, and Nintendo will continue to put its unique non traditional games to appeal to the casual gamer. It doesnt need high specs for the audience it is targeting. I dont see it having mass appeal to the hardcore gamers bc they arent going to find the kind of games the titles found on the PS3/360 on there. The Wii is in this generation of consoles but its so different that it is in a class of its own. Its hard to compare it to the others

Iv been waiting for someone to bring that up. I just dont see the Wii in the same way i see a PS3 or 360 because, like Havok stated, its SO different that its just kind of doing its own thing.

The 360 and PS3 were within spitting distance of eachother in hardware sales this month in the US,

As for software it's not surprising that GTA4 on the 360 took top spot easy. I'm surprised tho that the Wii had that many top slots, and I'm also surprised the PS3 got it's second top ten in before the 360. Usually software is where the 360 cleans up.

I never knew EA's software was something to boast about
well it is oen of the biggest publishers in the US....

I dont find it surprising. GTA IV was huge. I wouldnt be surprised if it shows up in the top ten for the PS3 for May's numbers as well

I'm not too surprised that 360 didn't have much software on the list this month, GTA IV has been the biggest release for the 360 so far this year. In June the 360 will start having more titles starting with Ninja Gaiden.

that hasn't made a great game in years
EA hasnt published a great game in years? Um Burnout Paradise, Skate, Rock Band? Have you heard of these 3 big titles released around the last holiday season?

I said "made a great game" as in developing. Quite a different thing than simply publishing one

well you quoted my post about them being one of the biggest publishers. I never said they were one of the biggest developers
