What is 'in the running' though? They can't personally audition thousands of actors.

Generally, they're going to have different levels. There could be a group of lower level casting agents auditioning large groups of people at the same time. Those casting agents then cherry pick those down to a smaller, but possibly still large group. Then that group goes to audition for casting agents with a little more experience/good reputation. That group then gets whittled down more.

Eventually, you get to a easily manageable group of candidates. Those are the ones that interview with the casting director and/or directors/producers.

Well I don't completely get that vibe from Wolff. It's different to Chalamet. He doesn't have quite the same pushy and somewhat forceful personality that Chalamet seems to give off, and he doesn't look quite as condescending as if he's looking down on you.

Wolff is more of a combination of Ted Mosby and Dustin Hoffman to me, but definitely comes across as older than O'Brien. Incidently, Josh Radnor did play in a stage version of the Graduate as well. If there were a remake of the Graduate, I would get Nat Wolff for the part.

But Chalamet has more of a smug look, almost a sneer, as if he thinks he knows something and won't let you be privy to it if he deems you beneath him. Only if you earn his trust or respect or whatever, then he might see you're worthy enough to be in his presence or taken into his confidence. He just gives off that vibe as if the spider powers went to his head and now he might crush the rest of these insignificant insects because they mocked and bullied him before.

And it's not just in his look, but also his tone of voice, which does sound like he's talking down to you. Even in some of these other videos of him where he's not ranting, he still sounds a bit condescending and abrasive.

If anything this isn't in his favor. Why would the actor he says is the strongest candidate put himself out there like that? Marvel havent kept it under lock and key for him to associate himself to the role like that publicly..

Well I don't see the tweet anymore, so..

He's not a bogus scooper. He's just an ***hole who posts click bait articles.

And of course he's in he running. Every white actor in Hollywood under 25 (over 15) is in the running.

That doesn't mean he isn't valid though, ugh. look, I think the shortlist is legit, I don't necessarily think that that is THE Shortlist, but I think those actors are strong candidates for the role.

I want Dylan for the role more than anyone, but it really annoys me when people try to distinguish ALL of Sneider's credibility based on ONE thing he said.

I want a more humble Peter, not one who seems like he's on some kind of high horse because he now has super powers or is in some privileged club of superheroes.

It's not always that the bullied kid is ugly or anything. It's often the fact that they have no social skills, they wear dorky clothes or that they have weird/geeky interests. Heck, a lot of times the bullied has been better looking than the bully from what I've witnessed

That's not to say Flash should be ugly, just saying that you can have a good looking Peter, as long as there's a clear reason he's bullied. I'm not saying O'brien's my favorite, but I think he would play a nerd/geek more convincingly than Garfield

Case of good looking guy getting bullied because..the plot required him to? Oh, that he was a loner? Right, I forgot about how they had that as a character trait only to drop it in the sequel (for good reason, mind you).

This is coming from someone who largely favored Garfield to Maguire as a whole, but just because I do, doesn't mean I won't point out flaws I've noticed.

Being bullied is rarely about if a person is good looking or not. Others have explained it better than me, but the actor for Peter Parker shouldn't be "ugly" just to be a convincing victim of bullying.

I think victims of bullying often has something that "stands out" (not exclusively in looks), something that makes them easy targets for the bullies to act out their inner frustrations on. It could

Asa is 5'10 and skinny. If you get a couple of actors who are 6'1 and built they will tower over him. You can then really sell them picking on him and the audience will buy it. I'm not buying someone picking on DOB, he is tall, good looking and by no means skinny. Bullied? No, not buying that, sorry.
