Homecoming The Next Spider-Man - - - - Part 13

It's a film, doesn't have to be literally like real life. Just like a teenager doesn't have to play a teenage character. You know, like it's always been like for the most part.

Not to mention the fact that Dylan O'Brien is awkward in real life, he just also has a charisma about him at the same time.

Asa is 5'10 and skinny. If you get a couple of actors who are 6'1 and built they will tower over him. You can then really sell them picking on him and the audience will buy it. I'm not buying someone picking on DOB, he is tall, good looking and by no means skinny. Bullied? No, not buying that, sorry.

But Peter wouldn't be bullied as Spider-Man anymore unless he lets them. He was only puny Parker before the spider bite, and this won't be dealing with Peter's origin. Discounting DOB because of his build is like trying to cast Steve Rogers based on his puny polio self which only formed a small section of his story. And here, they're not even doing that part of Peter's story, unless they have it in flashbacks. And in that case, they can have a body double or use the same CGI techniques they did on Chris Evans. Peter needs to have a Spider-Man build now. Asa looks like pre-Spider-Man Peter.

Being bullied is rarely about if a person is good looking or not. Others have explained it better than me, but the actor for Peter Parker shouldn't be "ugly" just to be a convincing victim of bullying.
I'm aware, believe me, but the possibility of O'Brien playing this nerdy, awkward Peter Parker and having troubles with Flash, Kong, Robertson, etc. is kinda reaching and I just don't believe it based on everything I've seen of his.

I think victims of bullying often has something that "stands out" (not exclusively in looks), something that makes them easy targets for the bullies to act out their inner frustrations on. It could

I'm aware here as well. The hobbies, how they dress, how they talk, how they function in general, etc. are all potential factors to it, but if we're basing this off of Peter Parker, it's a culmination of things:

-His intellect
-His dorky, nerdy nature
-How he dresses
-How he looks (I AM convinced that is a factor as to why he was originally bullied by Flash, while maybe not major, it still was present -- otherwise why have Flash be drawn to be better looking than Peter in early issues?)
-Who his friends are/lack of friends
-Who his parents/surrogate parents are
etc.

At least, that's what I get out of it.

He's not a bogus scooper. He's just an ***hole who posts click bait articles.

And of course he's in he running. Every white actor in Hollywood under 25 (over 15) is in the running.

Alright, I'm reporting this.

I'm keeping my posts strictly for news related to Spider-Man for the time being, but this kind of behavior here has to go. When I see that the "website that shall not be named" comments session looks way more civil and welcoming to the actors in the shor tlist without spewing vitriol against people that give the well earned credit to Jeff Sneider's report, there's something clearly wrong with this board, and it needs to be addressed.

I'm done talking about whatever I hear here because I've come to terms with the fact that people here are aggressive with those that are delivering a message that they don't want to hear. Whatever I hear from now on, I'm keeping it to myself and for those that I trust, and those that I trust know who they are.

Regardless, people need to be civil. And I sincerely hope that the mods will get their hands on this because it's just too much.

Well, Peter has mostly been drawn as a good looking guy. Kinda the guy whose good looks were hidden by the way he dressed and acted. Mind you, I agree with you about Dylan though.

It's called free speech. We don't have to sing his praises because you want us to.

A lot of posters hadn't even heard about him before before he was mentioned here.

To the general audience he is an unknown.
myself included, but compared to the rest of the actors talked about strongly for a reboot in spiderman, I think not only is he the most well known, but the best candidate.

hell, this thread start waaaaay back when the sony leak happened and the deal was just a rumor, and o'brien won the poll.

"Unknown" is a relative term in this discussion, so it really depends on who you're comparing him to. I think he seems bigger than he is because of the particular bubble you're focusing on.
exactly.

I thought he was talking about Sneider, not you?

So do you think that we can be disrespectful with whoever we want here as long as they aren't us? Seriously, I don't think you need me or the mods to tell you why you should be civil and don't be rude. It's against the boards rules, it's against common sense and I've had enough of it.

Your free speech isn't a giveaway card for you or anyone else to act like some are reacting to the Spider-Man news around here.

Dylan is the same height as Asa, maybe an inch taller. And the skinny argument is moot when he'll start off having been bitten by the spider and having his enhanced strength.

For myself, I can't really say. I mean, as an adult, absolutely but a teenager? Eh.. (especially a 15-16 year old)

Keeping in mind of course the various designs of Peter Parker over the years, both in comics and animation. :oldrazz:

yeah...god i hope urich doesn't get banned because of this

People here need to remember that they can't act like they are acting. Just look how "the website that shall not be named" is reacting to these news. When you think that that place is looking more mature and civil than here, there's clearly something off.

People always try to discredit anything, ANY of these Scoopers try to give us. whether it be Sneider or Mayimbe or McSweeny or Faraci.

I want Dylan too, but I'm not going drag people's names through the mud.

I don't think that Urich thinks Sneider comes off as an a-hole making click bait articles really warrants being reported.

I think some people are a-holes. You think some people are a-holes. Get over it. Just because you've been "deemed worthy" by him doesn't mean you need to take people's opinions about him so personally. Cool down a little.

No, it's not true. People keep trying to get credit to those that say what they want to hear, and it's not the first time that people here act like children over Spider-Man news.

We are all free to disagree with whatever we want, but people need to remember to be civil about this. There's a need for at least a barely there level of respect on this board, and people are forgetting about that.

I feel out of the loop by not knowing which website shouldn't be named.

Seems like you're more devastated that you and Sneider arent being worshipped on here

I'm a bit late to the party... wow the thread exploded! Like I said, much of this is past things that may have already been discussed and closed.
Just stating my opinion on things I found most interesting in the last 5 pages or so when I was absent.
Ever since the deal was made, this forum has been moving really fast.

Nope, it isn't, never was. All you have to do is read the article to know that.
the problem though is that it is being perceived of exactly what it's not.
Ikr? :/ I hate it when there is bad and misleading press.
yeah, it is upsetting. but if redditleaker is telling the truth, there is still nothing to worry about.

Then I want to see you also defend Avi Arad in these boards because that guy has surely taken a beating around here.

Or is he not worthy of being defended?

People having negative opinions about other people is not the end of our world. You're behaving like Sneider is your dad or something.
