Do you really think someone should be banned for calling somebody that?

Oh my.

Didn't said that. It's not my call. But I do think people need to remember this isn't an anything goes forum and they need to be more civil.

I don't think it is? He's joked that his nickname is D-Balls, which honestly isn't that much better.

If he gets the Spider-Man role he should change it to D-Bill$

I think swearing is against the rules here. I'm not "deemed worthy" by anyone other than my fiancé, and I'm fine with that.

And I'm very cool, and what I think should never get in the way into how respectful I am with those that disagree or agree with me. I just think that when the animosity here is worse than one of the worst place in the internet to talk about movies (meaning that website), there's something wrong.

Well, since it's reported already it's up to the mods to decide. I'm just saying that even though this place shouldn't be as infected as the CBM site, one can't expect everything to be roses and gardens. People have negative opinions about some people, not everyone gets along. Calling someone an a-hole is not the best thing to do, but it really is not that big of a deal. I think "a-hole" for example is a pretty fitting word of what the guy who interviewed RDJ lately for instance came off as. I don't feel bad for thinking that because that interviewer really behaved like that.

Not everyone has the same relationship to Sneider as you do. You can't expect everyone to love him because you do.

I'm aware, believe me, but the possibility of O'Brien playing this nerdy, awkward Peter Parker and having troubles with Flash, Kong, Robertson, etc. is kinda reaching and I just don't believe it based on everything I've seen of his.

I'm aware here as well. The hobbies, how they dress, how they talk, how they function in general, etc. are all potential factors to it, but if we're basing this off of Peter Parker, it's a culmination of things:

-His intellect
-His dorky, nerdy nature
-How he dresses
-How he looks (I AM convinced that is a factor as to why he was originally bullied by Flash, while maybe not major, it still was present -- otherwise why have Flash be drawn to be better looking than Peter in early issues?)
-Who his friends are/lack of friends
-Who his parents/surrogate parents are
etc.

At least, that's what I get out of it.

I think you're right about his portrayal in the earliest issues, but even then he has a girlfriend in the form of Betty Brant by issue seven, and by the teens issues you can already see a change in his portrayal, stemming from his gaining his powers and subsequently gaining confidence. By the eighth issue he beat Flash in a fight and has ditched his glasses. "Super Nerd" Peter lasts a pretty short time, all told.

I really think that Peter is essentially the male equivalent of the girl who takes her glasses off and everyone realizes she was beautiful all along. And remember, we aren't going to be seeing pre-bite Peter. We're going to be seeing a Peter who has been Spider-Man for nearly a year (going by Feige's comments). Think of his portrayal in Spectacular Spider-Man. There are nods there - his tag is always out, he still experiences some bullying from Flash and Kong - but he's also isn't portrayed as unattractive:

And he's at least on the periphery of the larger social group that includes the football team - they go out together on Halloween, they go out to meals together on several occasions, they date amongst each other, and so forth.

No, I'm acting like someone with respect for those that give us the news that we discuss here. And if someone is constantly swearing and acting like some are acting against the Hollywood scoopers around here, then I think that people need to be called out on that. I think it's sad to realize that when you look to the Spider-Man board and the CBM comment session, the later comes as the most civil one. That's just wrong in my eyes. Either way, people need to remember that they are in a moderated forum. It's not an "anything goes" forum.

Agreed.
Honestly its a bit sketch to even post swearing with *'s...
it's not like it is less insulting, so all it is is stretching the rules.

Things seem to have got ridiculous in here. Are we actually reporting people for having a negative opinion of someone who can be quite unpleasant on Twitter when he wants to be?
Still hoping for Dylan and I see that Nat Wolff has retweeted that tweet from Vincent suggesting he would make a great Spider-Man. Guess that counts him out now. :cwink:

I'd like to put Tailon on my ignore list but he derails this thread so much that it's pretty pointless. Even with him on ignore I'd still be stuck reading most of his posts anyway.

I agree with you, but when people claim they want a great looking Peter (even after the 15-16 year old confirmation), it just seems a little off to me.

Then again, I've always liked the idea that a dorky, nerdy kid from Queens can became someone else when he puts the mask on, so for a while I always believed the look of Peter would reflect that. Mind you, when he's older and what-not, I'm fine with seeing him drawn as this good/great looking guy but a teenager? Not for my own tastes, personally.

I definitely don't feel he should be "ugly" by any means, but I wouldn't want him looking like a model either.

An average/slightly-above average happy medium is what I like to think of for high school Peter.

Of this list, the only average that I see are Asa and Liam. A model would not be bullied, let's be realistic. And Peter needs to be a little dorky looking.

Look what I found... possibly secretly leaked footage showing the future actors first name?

Could it really be Sneider?

Could it really be him?!

Yep. Arrogantly sticking his chin up high...not good :hehe:

I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree here. I think that it's more faithful to the character for him to him to be unpopular due to his demeanor and his lack of confidence and his awkwardness than because he got hit with the ugly stick too much.

A lot of posters hadn't even heard about him before before he was mentioned here.

To the general audience he is an unknown.

FFS, does everything have to be in Dylan's favour?

I'm not talking about the general audience. I'm talking about rumoured names, speculation, acting résumé etc.

O'Brien is NOT an unknown. Far from it. Look at the amount of Twitter followers he has anyway if you want to keep taking about the general audience.

Thank you.
I'm not asking for a dweeb by any means, but I don't want a model-esque Peter Parker either -- especially at 15/16.

Asa would be the right choice in that regard, as for other reasons as well.

That's ultimately what I want though, all I was just pushing is that I don't want a guy looking like he walked out of the beauty salon to be Peter Parker. :oldrazz:

He was in the popular movie MR, that's all.
He is a main character in an MTV show, but that show isn't very popular. (I doubt the average person has heard of him.)
If we are talking unknown that would still meet the requirements of having been in a popular film the last 5 years, I would say he counts. Again though, I think people will continue to disagree on this issue.
I for one KNOW that the average person has probably not even seen him act, and the average person who has seen him act doesn't know his name. Why? Because he just isn't a popular guy.

But that's what Peter Parker looks like!

The only thing that has ever been truly consistent with Peter is the fact that he's Caucasian and that he has brown hair, that's it.
