While no name has been confirmed to be the lead actor in "The First Avenger: Captain America", another actor has been linked to the role. Deadline Hollywood has just reported that
Chris Evans is considered to be the depicter of the superhero as Marvel Studios is still actively looking for the right actor to star in the upcoming film.
Joining the "
Push" actor on the current short list are "
Tron Legacy" star
Garrett Hedlund, who in the previous report was said still having no test deal, and
Mike Vogel from "
Cloverfield". Moreover,
Deadline mentioned that
Chace Crawford ("
Gossip Girl"), Patrick Flueger ("The 4400") and
John Krasinski ("
The Office"), who were also among the contenders, are allegedly out of the competition.
The scoop regarding Kransinski losing his chance to be Captain America is quite contrary to earlier report made by FOX411. According to the site, insiders at Marvel Studios have informed them that he is "a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week."
"John has read 4 times and is doing screen tests. He has screen tested 2 times so far. It's very likely that he will be the new Captain America," the insider says, before adding. "The big bosses are having him read with multiple actresses up for the female leads. They want to lock down the role and then they will narrow down everyone else."
