Superhero Feed is being very... Suggestive. ;)

Having Peter be high school age (15 to 18) is more important than seeing him IN high school.

The allure of that time period is the story you can tell with a young, teen aged Peter Parker; a Peter who is inexperienced and reckless, and needs to be shown the ropes by other heroes.

What better time to explore THAT Peter than during Civil War, leading into the Infinity War. And afterwards, having him come out the mature, experienced Spidey that many of us want.

^ Peter's involvement in Civil War and potentially other Marvel Studios-produced films is only half of the equation, though. Sony wants to explore the HS aspects of the character to a greater degree than they have before, and Feige's comments indicate that he's going to do everything he can to accommodate that desire.

I think Spider-Man's age combined with Dylan being cast in a film which shoots at the same time as civil war makes it clear and obvious that he is not going to be cast. I'd be happy for him to get it but the only trustworthy evidence pointing to him is Paley fest.

Yep. I lost hope that he would be cast as SM when he was cast in DWH.

He's either trying to get some of the attention from all of the hub bub about casting OR He's being naïve thinking that by making such a big noise about it that he'll be considered when most likely casting has already been finalized.

Or he has been cast already and this is just the coverup! :wow::cec:

Dylan O'Brien has about as much chance of getting this role based on Kevin Feige's comments about the character being 15-16 years of age AND Sony wanting to explore the HS aspects of the character as Arnold Schwarzenegger does of becoming President of the United States.

Dylan O'Brien for President 2028 confirmed.

The last resort of a desperate person wanting the final word on a subject is to ignore the point being made and instead attempt to make a joke out of said point.

Dylan O'Brien will not be Sony's new Spider-Man based on their plans for the character (plans that Kevin Feige concurs with and is going to endeavor to accommodate), just as Arnold Schwarzenegger will never become President of the United States (Dylan is far too old to play a 15/16-year-old version of the character, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is constitutionally ineligible to run for the U.S. Presidency).

I'm just trying diffuse your negativity, buddy. Let people believe what they want instead of cramming "facts" down our throats. This is a discussion board not a fighting board.

^ Fine. Far be it from me to try and prevent people from deluding themselves into believing in something that's never going to happen and therefore end up disappointed when it doesn't. :whatever:

Has anyone from Sony commented on Peter's move back to high school? Feige is the only one talking, and it certainly gives the appearance that Spidey's age-reduction came from he and his team of experts.

So your basically saying that the leaked shortlist isn't real since the wouldn't even concider a tad older actor? Just wondering

Shouldn't Nat Wolff also have absolutely no hope of being Spider-Man too? He looks older than O'Brien. Just because he is actually younger doesn't mean anything, since it's not a legal requirement to be a certain age here.

From what I remember from the Hack Attack Emails, one of the original sticking points between Marvel and Sony was the idea of rebooting the character to be in HS , since Pascal , at the time, was still advocating for Garfield to return. That said, they've cleary worked that out now and Sony is on board for a rebooted teen spiderman.

Now my own speculation(and I put it that way so there's no misunderstanding or that i'm claiming this as fact), is that O'Brien and Lerman were likely names Sony considered for the role when they were talking about the Sinister Six film featuring a "soft" rebooted Spiderman .

In that case ,their ages would have made sense given that that their Spiderman would be vaguely connected to Garfield's ASM version in which Peter was out of highschool and in his twenties. However, once the deal was made, those plans were canned thus Sony agreed to go along with Marvel's original idea of leaning towards a much younger actor this time out.

Fixed!
You remind me of Talion, you speak in absolutes when you are really talking about your opinion. The only difference is Talion has secret sources. :p

I don't think any Sony member has. Feige is the only one who commented on that, and he made it CLEAR that they don't have a set age they want the actor to be.

Exactly.
People are trying to pretend that Sony/Marvel would be stupid enough to eliminate someone based on their age instead of their age look.
It seems that is the big debate here, are Sony/Marvel looking at age only? Numbers on a page? Or are they looking at age look, talent, and acting personality?
I would claim the latter, and I know others would disagree.
Everything that has been said would show that they are not just going to eliminate someone because of age. Otherwise Feige would have made it clear that it would be a younger actor than the status quo. It means tehy are being open to choose someone who isn't the exact age of the character they will be portraying.

I really wonder how it would have been if Liam Aiken was in the ASM films. He wouldn't have been too old then.
Check his two 2012 films Girls Against Boys and Nor'easter to see you think he could have suited Peter Parker

I wonder if people other than Cap and Tony will know Spider-Man is Peter Parker. It would be funny if the running gag was 'what are you, like 10' because Spider-Man is so juvenile to his team mates.

I want Spidey to have a secret identity. That would never work that people would wonder about his age if they know what he looks like under the mask.

Fury will know.
BW and HE too
Banner will, he's a genius
Thor is the only one who won't know before he's told

But if his identity came out it would be among Avengers. But yes, it would be better if only Tony knows and maybe Cap.

I've looked at recent pictures of both Nat and Dylan, and Dylan looks significantly older.

Nat looks younger than his 20 years, whereas Dylan looks like a 34-year-old man.

Is Donald Trump really going to ask Arnie to see his birth certificate? I think not! :o

But I thought you wanted the other Avengers to wonder about his age in the first place because he acts so immaturely. There wouldn't be any question about his age if they know how old he is.

Peter could reveal his identity late in the movie. But I guess the less people know the better. The funny thing is in CW Spider-Man reveals his identity to everyone but no way is that going to happen.
