I gave my reason for not wanting Holland. But let's all ignore that, eh? It's clearly because I want Dylan. Clearly. :o

This place...

Its been like this since the beggining, I really don't understand why so many users here want to make everything about Dylan even if their favorite candidates where ignored when Dylan was the most popular choice.

It's ridiculous. I've been called out for my signature before, when I was making a point not even directly related to Spidey's casting. It's like people feel offended personally when somebody disagrees with their ideal fan cast. People want Tom, cool. Fine by me. My ideal choice would probably be Dylan. The fact that invalidates mine and others opinions, degrading them to what is essentially 'he just wants Dylan' is pathetic.

Who does that to you? I wasn't even referring to you when I mentioned Dylan

And the big irony is that the people who react like that are the ones who exclude everyone who isn't their favorite pick, its like you can't even talk about someone who isn't Tom or Asa without someone telling you that you're wrong for it.

I'm not sure which part of my post you're referring to, but if you meant the signature part, no it wasn't you. Can't remember the username.

You don't even have to actually support DOB! I've been lumped in with DOB supporters because I disagreed with something or other in the past--despite never supporting him.

Frankly, I think that with a lack of news the only thing we can do is talk about the same things over and over again. How many times have we debated who the better actor is? How many times have we debated whether or not acting skill is the end all be all of casting? Yet if you look up this thread a few posts....

For me I am like both are good actors. But asa in my opinion I just feel he isn't a fit for this role. And the way Kevin has expressed in doing the role. Tom I feel could do the role as Kevin said better and more natural then asa.

Perhaps.

But if all this is true, and they saw what we can only assume, because we weren't in the audition room with either Asa or Tom, then they were perfectly satisfied with Asa's performance. So, from there, can't we say Asa was the better man, with all the fitting qualities, that Tom was lacking?
Tom didn't do anything better if Asa was indeed picked. If anything, he was lacking what we assume he has.

Totally I am like that too. I haven't seen enough of either to judge them more. But from what little I know. I just don't feel asa would be the right move. But who really knows.

Like I keep saying. Who ever is the lucky kid. I just want them to nail both sides of the role right. I don't want another Tobey situation.

If were talking about a goofy yet lovable 15 year old Peter than I would go with Tom. If we were talking about the quite ,outsider teen who may come out of his shell when he's Spiderman, then I could see Asa. If we are talking about a confident Romita style college or grad school aged Peter who's already been Spiderman for a several years, I would say Dylan or Logan.

I would like to see the goofy, yet lovable Peter. Not because I want Holland to get the role, but because that is the Peter I enjoy the most.

I wan to see a Peter Parker who is shy and reserved but opens up around friends and shows his wit and his snark.

I simply do not want to see two completely different characters in and out of costume. I HATE that. The wise cracks should come from 'somewhere' but at the same time Peter shouldn't be cocky or the life of the party.

Well that may or may not be true. Regardless you can't tell me that he is not the best actor available for the part. You know it, I know it.

I'm aware the odds are stacked against him given everything we know. Still doesn't mean I can't hope for some other actor to come out of left field.
O'Brien stans talking about him like he is a 23 year old Daniel Day Lewis
is hilarious. He has not yet proven to be some once in a life time stellar actor. Maybe in the future he will but he damn sure hasn't proven that yet, at all. He's a guy on a bad MTV teen show and is starring in low budget YA dystopia film series.

Yet I still want him. Guess we all have our views on actors. Nothing wrong with differing opinions. If everyone was the same the world would be boring.

Indeed.

In due time, I have a feeling that O'Brien will fade away from the memories of a lot of fans. Personally speaking, I just get a really bad sense of 'fan-casting' when I try to picture O'Brien as Peter/Spidey. He physically resembles the character and might like to joke around like Spidey, but I don't think he'd be able to realistically hold his own against the likes of Robert Downey Jr. or the other big MCU leads.

Though, to be fair, I'm not entirely sure that Tom Holland can either. I mean, I'm sure he'd be comfortable working with Hemsworth again, but it looks like we won't be seeing that happening (if at all) until Infinity War. Having said that, Holland is a much better actor than O'Brien is, I think.

Asa though... while I can totally understand folks' concerns about how he would handle the character (his take would definitely be different from Holland's), I do think he could very easily go toe-to-toe with the other MCU leads. The kid's been up there with the likes of Harrison Ford and Martin Scorsese and has the acting chops to match Holland.

These boards are so boring lately...

And Holland's worked with Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Hemsworth, Tom Hardy, Ron Howard...

Billy Unger for Spidey!

I feel like Asa would be left in the dust next to the other MCU leads when it comes to comedy. He might be digging around for his script with the next witty line while everyone else is ad libbing with funny comments. He seems like his voice could sound really boring with his dry and monotonous delivery. At least Tom has more energy and enthusiasm.

Asa can't be unfunny, boring or bad, if he was picked, surely?
