What if they both say though that some actor (eg O'brien) was their only choice, just like Marvel only seemed to have one choice for DD?

Does that mean they weren't really serious about auditioning these other actors?

Maybe, maybe not. Who knows, If there's a flashback scene in this movie maybe they did audition a younger actor to play young Peter when he first got bit and then had O'Brien come in to play older Peter about a year later.

though in that dream, Peter revealed that Uncle Ben was actually killed by a flood

But a few would be happy with it. I think I should change my first choice among the actors, as I am affected by all the Isaac stuff.

Casting the likes of Isaac Hempstead-Wright is like trying to find a pre-Super Soldier Serum Steve Rogers for the part. Just because Rogers was a short, weedy, polio sufferer doesn't mean that this is the type you should look for. It was easier to shrink Chris Evans down by CGI than to find someone who was really that size and try to get them to Captain America proportions.

And similarly, Peter doesn't remain a continual weedy nerd. That represents a relatively small proportion of the story, and if we're getting an already-established Spider-Man, he's not going to be this weedy pre-Spider-Man nerd anyway. So Isaac doesn't fit at all.

And like I said, he reminds me of a Caucasian Masi Oka. He has a weak chin like his and even some similar expressions.
