First of all, it only applies to seniors making less than 50 k a year...so I guess if you are making $50,001.00 a year (well within the middle class, just like $49,999.99 is well within the middle class), you're screwed.

But 50,000 dollars a year is a very strange line being as you could be in the lower middle class if you make 50 grand a year but live in a city like NEw York or Washington.

ok that makes more sense Matt, however, the reason to give seniors a tax cut is the same reason people are having to put off their retirements in the US nowadays, and having an elderly mother I can tell you that retirement is not exactly easy, unforeseen circumstances can make your life very difficult in matter of months.
I don't see why you think it's a "sad" attempt at anything though.

There is no definitive line to the Middle Class, it is between $25,000 and 250,000. Depending on the Size of house hold, and the region. Do you think that someone making $50,000 living in New York City lives reasonably well? I live in a "Rich" part of the County making a fair amount of money, but if I lived in Ohio with the income I have now, I would be a lot more comfortable.

Majority yes, it's the "5%" that you constantly hear about with trouble, but a lot of Senors have it 'easy".

Yes, this current generation has it very well. Most of them are insured, own their homes (or are well off enough to pay rent at a retirement community), and have pensions and S.S.. They are probably the best-off demographic financially right now.

And even if they weren't, its irrelevant. Do something that fixes the problem for all of us, not one group.

Well, I'm personally in favor of chiseling Florida off of the United States, floating it into the middle of the Atlantic and turning it into a priso-- er, retirement resort where everyone over 65 can be sent to di-- er, live under their own form of government. I think that would be a good way to solve the whole election crisis we're having. Obama can become President of the United States, and McCain can become President of Florida. Then we can get rid of social security, tax cuts for the elderly, and slow drivers.

How else do you plan to get the US out of the deep dark hole of debt we are in? The rich who voted for Bush to save their money will now have to pay up for there error.
