Comedy The Offical Saturday Night Live Thread - Part 3

Last night's show had some real gems with Ferrell's George W. Bush returning, the monologue, the Star Wars toy commercial, "Time To Bleed" and Hemsworth in drag.

Next week's show should be top notch with Fey and Poehler hosting. It'd be nice to see them take over Weekend Update again.

im going to have to DVR that one. should be great
i hope they do Weekend Update together

another funny episode! their writers are really stepping it up!

So it's these two next week:

Who is you dream SNL guest host? Usually its' someone who has never hosted before and who can probably do a good job at hosting.

I would say Denzel Washington, but as great of an actor as he is, I'm not sure he would be a good guest host.

I got two:

Sandra Bullock and Will Smith. Out of the two, Smith surprises me the most because of his background. He has never hosted the show nor has he ever been the musical guest. It seems very unlikely he'll ever host SNL, while I think we'll eventually see Bullock host.

Ryan Gosling's first hosting gig on SNL was fun. He was a good host. Taraji P. Henson was a good host too in her first go around as was Ed Norton and JK Simmons. Norton had a spot on impersonation of Owen Wilson and Gosling did a spot on impression of the original scarecrow. Hemsworth has also been great.

I think a good host could be Idris Elba.

it probably doesn't count, but i'd love for Molly Shannon or Cheri Oteri to host and bring back some of their iconic characters. that's just the nostalgic part of me who really enjoyed that era (gasteyer, ferrell, meadows, et al)

So why did Cheri not attend SNL 40th?

I also don't recall seeing Gasteyer there either.

Kevin Smith and Christian Bale.

Nathan Fillion or Mindy Kaling. I don't think either have hosted before.

Pretty good episode last night. The adult Star Wars collector's commercial was too close to home though, man. Like a dagger in the chest. :(

I can't even be mad at it though...it was scary how on point it was. Haha.

Molly has been back to host before, my pick would definitely be Cheri, her and Will Ferrel were my favorite and those years were also my favorite, plus I dont think Cheri has been back to host since she left. Also if she hosted you know Will would make an appearance

shes been in some of the reunion specials but not all of them, its weird that she hasnt been back to SNL very often

I have always preferred MADtv. Thank the Lord above that it is returning in January for a one off special.

Hell, Will just made an appearance this last weekend as George W. Bush.

Molly was at the SNL 40th as Mary Catherine Gallagher.

I don't think Cheri Oteri got on well with Lorne Michaels and some of the cast. I know Tracy Morgan can't stand her. She did say she was invited to the 40th Anniversary show, but she had a scheduling conflict.

i would like to see one more Spartan cheerleader skit in my lifetime

That "Meet Your Future Wife" sketch was hilariously uncomfortable. I wish they gave Fey and Poehler more than one joke each during Weekend Update.

Oh my god, the 'Meet Your Future Wife' sketch :lmao:. It was great seeing Amy's Hillary and Tina's Sarah Palin back too .

:lmao: You could hear the audience about to lose it during the Meet Your Second Wife sketch.

What a shame this episode was. Fey and Poehler were wasted. Probably my least favorite of the season. Only highlights were the 2nd Wife sketch and Maya as that singer.

The beginning was hilarious since Hammond and Steven Higgins were interrupting each other as the sketch announcer

Live TV people

Also I wish SNL was new this week since the Steve Harvey/Miss Universe pageant mess up

Keenan as Steve Harvey and Cecily Strong as Miss Columbia

I was expecting more from TF and AP, not the worst episode but could of been a lot better

I thought the opening monologue was weak but the show picked up from there. Loved it! The Hilllarys and then Meet Your Second Wife were comedic gold

LOL at Maya Rudolph's appearance. Her singing reminded me of Cosby. HAHA, Cosby just showed up

Brooklyn Beat :D

i also enjoyed the Hillarys sketch but i was kinda disappointed with the episode. i wanted more from them. Maya was funny though too.

i was hoping they'd get to do the whole Weekend Update segment but eh

that was the only part that really dissappointed. I think SNL could have had Colin and Che take a break for one episode. The small bit that Amy and Tina did wasnt all that great either
