Since Mark Steven Johnson has said he wanted Scarecrow to be the villain in a GR sequel. How do you want him to be protrayed and who should play him?

Really cool thread, man!
First of all, it´s awesome that MSJ thinks of Scarecrow for GR´s sequel.
Batman is my childhood´s hero, and i went to the movie theatre on june the 17th, 2005, with great antecipation and excitement.
But i must say David Goyer´s script kind of ruined one of the Dark Knight most brilliant villains: Johnathan Crane, the Scarecrow.
The character is lost in the movie, it´s not Crane, i don´t know. Just wrong.
I think Ebeneezer Laughton is superior of Crane. Most lethal, dark and dangerous. GR´s archnemesis, for sure.
Jesus, it creeps me out...
In the sequel?
God... i have to think...
I first think of Vin Diesel, about 2 years ago. A villain that could take on GR phisically.
But now, maybe Paul Bettany ( who i think would be a great Joker... ).
My opinion may change ahead, of course. Many actors can apppear and freak us out.
But let´s write, friends.
It´s cool hear the GR Legions voices!
GR4EVR!!!

Scarecrow cant be in a sequel because like MSJ said, hes a character on Batman, that's going to cause all kinds of headaches for DC and Marvel. Also scarecrow was never any physical match for Ghost Rider, all he was the best at, was slipping away from him, and the hardest thing for GR to do was to catch him before he killed again.

I love the Scarecrow character, but I'd like to see GR face Mephisto or Lucifer myself in a sequel...maybe Centurious?

* Johnson said he was interested in a Ghost Rider sequel. "You have to wait and see how this goes," he said. "I sure hope so. I know Nic would love to, and we'd all love to.

"What's great about second ones is you can go right into the fun, you don't have to worry about origins. You can go, 'OK, who's the next villain? What kind of fun can we get into?'"

Johnson said he might be interested in using Marvel's version of Scarecrow, who was in his original plans for the first Ghost Rider film before hearing that a Scarecrow would be in Batman Begins.

"I think you could still do it here and do Marvel's version of Scarecrow, which was such a cool character," Johnson said.

From the sound of it, he might attempt to use Scarecrow as a villain in the hopeful sequel, and if they went the route of the second annual, I think they could make it work. Just make it harder to actually to actually capture and incapacitate him. The maze of live bodies to limit Rider's abilities was a brilliant idea, but the story seemed to end too abruptly afterwards. Could have been handled better.

I think Scarecrow could make an interesting subplot to the story. News blurbs on a background television about series of people being abducted, or a being hung and stuffed with straw, etc., leading to a final confrontation within the film.

This is just idealistic fanboy talk.

Sounds Rated R NDX :)

When I think of a teaser, the first scene I can picture is a bunch of wild flames on the screen, a short monologue in Johnny Blaze's voice introducing the theme of the movie, followed by Flames getting brighter, through the flames, a shape of a body and a bike appears, and eventually riding directly towards the camera - Ghost Rider.

If they can get away with it on basic television, they can pull it off in a PG-13 film.

I know next to nothing of Ghost Rider's version of the Scarecrow - can anyone point me out some pics and info?

Scarecrow:

Scare_crow.jpg

He was a human characater turned superhuman character who could release fear inducing toxins/pheremones from his pores and had control over demonic crows that followed him everywhere he went. He had a huge Oedepis complex and was a sadistic killer who kept referring to his Pitchfork in which he impaled his victims as, "trusty rusty." He reminds me of a mix between Leatherface and Jason.

I believe Ghost Rider broke all his bones on his body without killing him, and allowed the bones to mend themselves in a deformed fashion so he could no longer kill any humans.

His bones were later fixed by surgeons in the "Black Hole" facility led by Spook, a shady Government scientist that Nick Fury didn't even have clearance over. When Ghost Rider and his Bike disengaged the facility's power to escape the facility they were trapped in, he, and other sadistic superhuman killers were let loose in the process.

Somehow (was it ever explained?) Scarecrow was killed, and he made a deal with Blackheart to come back to the mortal plane in the "Crossroads" graphic novel but was killed by Dan Ketch and his dead sister Barbara in Hell.

Thats about as much as I can recall.

Wow. I've never been much of a Ghost Rider fan (I dont dislike him, he just never appealed to me) but this 'Crow sounds pretty cool.

Crossroads graphic novel? I'll have to see if I can find that. Anyone know of any other good issues featuring him?

Theres one book when Captain America and Ghost Rider team up to take him down that's called simply "FEAR" which was a great read.

In the Ghost Rider comic itself in the 90s, I can't recall which numbers they were, but Scarecrow is on a rampage and eventually is ironically impaled by his own pitchfork. The later issues where he goes on a killing spree inside the government facility, nearly kills Nick Fury in the process, and runs into the Ghost Rider is in the later half of the comic's run.

By the time Scarecrow had run ins with Ghost Rider, he had already been crazy. According to the Marvel database, he was once a sideshow performer, who was extremely flexible, and the crows that followed him were trained to follow him. He had a few run ins with different hereos, placed under solitary confinement by Captain America, where he eventually snapped.

Cool.

Thanks for the info!

If I remember correctly, "Crossroads" is actually where Scarecrow "died". Blackheart pitted Scarecrow against Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch in a race to see who can escape hell. Blaze and Ketch did, essentially trapping Scarecrow in hell, eventually leading to the depressing "Scarecrow possessing the corpse of Barbara Ketch and haunting the Ketch family eventually driving momma Ketch to madness and possessing Danny before Noble Kale used Barbara's corpse to cast Scarecrow out and then burnt to a crisp" arc.

Now, my description of "Crossroads" is very simple, the comic is more complicated than that, but I can't remember it all. Not a comic I care to read regularly.

I think Crispin Glover would make a good scarecrow. He's a hell of an actor. Read Ghost rider annual #1 (i think it might be #2) for the best scarecrow story. It tells the story from the scarecrows point of view and the ending is cool It's the best scarecrow story

I don't think we need Scarecrow as the main villain, more like a side villain, who eventually becomes the main villain.

Have Vengeance as GR2's main villain, and for GR3...Blackout. Or should it be Blackout in GR2 and Vengeance in GR3?

Either way, I want to see Vengeance vs. Ghost Rider live-action.

I'm not a HUGE fan as far as, i've read em all.. and know it all.. but He his my favorit Marvel Character. I was not intrested in him what so ever untill about 4 years ago. I came to a point where i rethought giving him a chance so i went out and bought a bunch of old GR comics... and just loved it.

I dunno about the rest of GR's fans.. but i am shocked that they went with a PG-13 rating. GR is NOT PG-13.

I remember they said they had a dark rated R movie that the tossed because Spider-Man did so well, n they wanted the same fans.

But to hear that Scarecrow would be a sequal enemy... thats great. I felt the same way.

As some of you feel, he shouldn't be a main baddy... but they made Joker a main baddy.. n they're along the same lines of strength agasint their heroes.

Joker (to my knowledge) is not a martial artist, nor a body builder... what makes him strong is his sick mind...

as someone already said here... Scarecrow is a sneaky one. He can slip away... making it Hard for GR to catch him.

Although, i do see why he shouldn't be in the sequal. Not that it would be TOO confusing... but the story line between Batman and GR would kinda seem the same with Scarecrow in the film... not that the characters would be confusing.. though they may... but the story may sound the same with the fear induced toxins.

I love the concept of the Scarecrow, but it feels like a repeat of Batman's Scarecrow and lord knows there is going to be someone else out there makes the comparsion. I'd say bring in someone like Madcap. Just supe him up a little.

That version of Scarecrow (it was changed for a movie:D) is scary and cool looking. He should be a great villain sometime.

But if they have him in another movie, then there won't be much of a point to a Scarecrow figure since they already have one.

You're dead on, Crispin Glover would be perfect. (Also, it was the second annual, first one had that gay vampire and the worm lady.)

Though I'd much rather see Blackout and Deathwatch in a sequel,
Scarecrow wouldn't be bad. I much preferred the down-to-earth storylines in GR (Mr. Hyde, Scarecrow, the Betrayal storyline) rather than the bull**** with mystics and Lilin and all that other gay stuff. In my opinion, Blackout was best later in the comics when he lived in his fancy penthouse and went back to being an assassin for hire.

Of course all of this pertains to the 90's GR, the 70's-80's villains were too lame. I definitely don't want to see Orb in an upcoming movie...

^^^^^^ I have to disagree with u. Lillith was ok, but come on meatmarket and skinner are sick villians, and they also got blackout. the rest are trash tho. Scarecrow is my favorite GR nemesis. the beginning of issue 7 was just chilling, and when he got his powers he became a formidable foe for a flame-headed anti-hero.

BTW Crossroads is a genius of a book. very wel written. it adds to the character of blackout leading up to the series's end where blackheart dies. good piece of wizork.

What a blatant rip off of the Batman character. haha

I don't think it will work on screen. Especially since he uses the exact same name. Rip off city. Batman Begins nailed the character, and for all we know we might see him again in the "Dark Knight" or the next sequel. If Mark was smart, he'd go for another villain. Vengence, maybe?

Too be fair Scarecrow wasn't really a rip off Dc Scarecrow. Marvel Scarcrow appeared in 1963 or so, DC Scarecrow had about 3 appearances in the Golden Age until he was brought back in 1967. I doubt Stan Lee ripped off the DC Scarecrow. Marvel Scarecrow only became a rip off when some one gave himn fear based powers, before that I think it would be hard to argue that Marvel scarecrow was rip off DC Scarecrow.

Yet, it became a rip off the second they gave him fear based powers. So once again, I re-state, that Scarecrow of the GR lore is a rip off the one from the Batman mythose.

But before the whole "fear based" powers, Marvel Scarecrow was more similar to Ragdoll than DC Scarecrow. They could just use pre "fear powers" Marvel scarecrow, who wasn't a rip off DC Scarecrow.
