the official jarv thread

Hey Jarv,

Great to hear that you're as excited about the new series as we all are! All the best, my friend.

ps. that's gotta be the longest post i've written to date.

Definitely the longest but we love it! Thanks for the update and we look forward to what you find out.

No prob.

How's the book comin, by the way? What issue are you on now? Any buzz to share?

Always inquiring minds wanna know...

I'm not sure what you mean...

Javier Saltares (Jarv) is a past and current artist for the Ghost Rider comic. I'm pretty sure he's the man responsible for the image of the character we know and love today, the one being used in the movie even... the leather, spikes, chain thing, ya know?

Is that what you mean?

Jesus...
A guy nicknamed "wolverine", who doesn´t know who Howard Mackie and asks what means a thread about Javier Saltares...
What a Hell is he doing in here?
Damn...

Hey jarv, just wanted to know: where the Medallion symbol actually came from? Is it a stylized skull?Or is it more?Where did it came the inspiration from?

hi guys,
been a while.
to awnser the last post.
howard wanted a medallion, thought it was cool but i guess
we didn't get the chance to play with it. never really had the
oppertunity to understand the significance if any. know what i mean?
still a cool idea though. so on that note, speculate away!
i'm sure there are a million of ways we can go with this.

"seal of god"

"cool tat"

A few years back, I decided to get a tatoo(sonewthinbg I always wanted to do) and my good buddy John Morelli suggested the medallion. Seemed too much for me to go that direction, so I have something else. MAYBE my second one. MAYBE I'll get it on the palm of my hand?

Hmmm, are you trying to hint to us that the Medallion will be coming back in the new run?

Actually i did it once in high school, with semi permanent colors (i don't really believe in tattoo). It didn't work though. :D

I was thinking of going in that direction 6 years ago myself, but thought it wouldn't look professional as an accountant. Now that that's behind me, still can't go for the tattoo because I want to teach.

Guess I'm destined to go uninked.

In my kids' school the 8th grade Social Studies teacher has a ton of ink(only wore long sleeves until he got tenure) and there was an older English teacher, heavyset, bald, alwways wore a suit and tie... turns out he had full sleeves on both arms and road a Harley... he now retired.

Hey Jarv.

Some news as of late is confirming a printing of issue 94 of the original series. Can you shed some light on this? Do you know anything about it?

hey fh,
first off, happy bd man!
(saw the other thread)
to awnser your question, yes!
94 is a go and yours truly will be doing some finishing
art on the project. was a big surprise to me. they called me
on thursday to ask for my involvement. so far it seems we'll
be adding some pages and finishing some uninked ones.
don't know anything past that right now.
will fill in as i get the info.

Howard Mackie and Javier Saltares chatting on our little board.

Brilliant!

:yay:

it is kinda cool, isn't it.
well, if you haven't seen, the words out.
marvel solits for jan. "the unpublished 94!"
you can get the info at newsarama.com
(hope that's ok to do.)
will give you a quick summary and what evr else
you might want to know.
maybe not fh. (you little conspiracy theorist you.)
still waiting to get filled in on my end actually.
what i can, i will pass on. promise.

hi guys,
just thought i should let you know.
started work on the infamous iss.94.
thier are no "new" pages as first thought,
just lost ones. they were given back to me and tex
i guess when they thought they weren't doing anything
with them. then the movie and now a new succesful on going....
( by th way. you guys are awesome. i'm not worthy..i'm not worthy!)
well, who knew? anyway, the book will be as was.
this is really cool i think because i believe that's way you all would
have wanted it. it really is a cool round up to the ketch legacy.
now, before you all hit me with questions as to what happened to
the lost pages...i don't know!
i don't want to name names here but, all i know is "i" didn"t sell
any of my pages. (he says with a nudge, nudge, wink, wink!)
jarv

We're as stoked as you are, Jarv!

Good luck with it and have fun too.

:yay:
