I hate to break it to ya but thats exactly what Raimi did when he put venom in SM3. He didnt want to but they told him that the fans wanted venom and he cant just make these movies for himself (check the special features its there) so he half assed threw him in. Listen im not trashing raimi just saying things arnt as black and white as they seem

Yeah he did because Sony/Arad want him to do it. Look at Spidey 3, it sucks but the first hour (without Venom, wich is a bad character anyway) is really good. When Raimi was in control (1 2 and first hour of the third) it was good... Sony don't want to make good movie, and Raimi was a problem for them, it's clear. That's why they're taking a newbie who wouldn't dare to complain...

As for the other comment, no I haven't seen the movie, but "That's just a trailer" is not an good answer. I was telling that before, I was telling that when I saw the pictures (particulary the one with peter/gwen) and now the trailer confirm that. I don't say it can't be a good surprise, just say that for the moment, I'm kinda worried.

I didn't see twilight in anyway...? Where did you see it?
I didn't too... because we all know how it is (just look at the twilight audience :p). Even part of the cast don't like the movie. I understand Sony positions, if they want money, it's a good way to make some... but I wish it wasn't with Spidey.

How many people thought the tone of the teaser was way, way off? Don't get me wrong, Spiderman has plenty room for angst and drama, but I don't think that should be the central feel of the film (or the teaser). One of the reasons so many people are attracted to Spiderman I think is because he IS a fun superhero. This isn't Batman. This is a sarcastic, wisecracking superhero who is an everyday guy. I don't know. Maybe it was just me.

Still excited for the movie, but the trailer honestly worried me more than anything.

Symbiote suit aside, Spidey can remain himself in an otherwise dark story and atmosphere. Happens a lot, especially while he's fighting villains/criminals. It's usually after he takes off the mask that he starts brooding a little.

The twilight comparisons will never go away because people are hanging on to that to bash a film they have yet to see.If it comes out and Spidey sparkles I'll eat crow. But the teaser merely had a "heavy" feeling. It was trying to convey the burden Peter feels from being an outcast and the fact that he desperately wants to know what happened to his parents.

I just saw the trailer and although i cant wait to see the hd version. I must say the end of the trailer reminded me of the end of the first trailer for mirror edge. I actually enjoyed the tone this gave me.

Where do you get ur info about Webb just curious. I understand Raimi didnt want to use venom but thats no excuse to just throw him in and ruin the film. Granted he didnt understand the character but he could have made a much better and darker film if he tried

Agreed. I do ponder a question was felicia Hardy / The Vultures side kick and not black cat his idea or Sonys.
I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt the VUltress idea was Raimi's. Apparently, Sony thought Vulture was a boring Villain that oculdn't be marketed well. If they would have let Sam use him, we probably would have had a S-M4 and it probably would have been amazing.

I think I'm gonna make it a rule to put anyone on ignore who's comparing this to Twilight.

I really want to see an HD version of the trailer so I can make things out better.

He wanted Black Cat. Sony said TDKR will likely have Catwoman so we can't risk it. So Sony came up with Vulturess :barf:

I just love the idea of meeting Peter's parents. If anyone has read Child within by J.M. Demattis it explores Peter's guilty feeling about his parents. If the movie goes that deep I'd be thrilled.I just hope Dr. Connors isn't a generic villain. If they do the connors family dynamic right this could be a very deep and entertaining film.

I was really looking forward to seeing SM4 with Malkovich as Vulture as ive been a fan of the vulture since i watched the 90's cartoon on fox.

It's not info, it's logic.

Raimi was a pain in the ass for Sony, it seems clear (they don't want quality movie, they don't even care. Raimi's method was not compatible).

Webb made one movie, a independent one (Fox Searchlight prod) who was great. It seems clear that he want to direct movies, Sony offer a great opportunity, he can't refuse a project like that. So he does it and Sony know that, unlike Raimi, they can make what they want and Webb will obey. Too risky for his career to refuse or complain...

As for Venom, you can't make good stuff with something you don't like. It's not yours...

Once upon a time... cinéma was about actors, writers and directors... Raimi shouldn't have accept to make this movie anyway. He did this time, but did not for the 4th...

I just hope the movie isn't about Peter's parents being spies that are killed and so he is trying to solve the murder of his parents with clues. That is :barf: worthy.

If that were the case, we'd probably get a Movie with Venom and Carnage. Do you see them anywhere?

Man as much as I love the 90's series having Vulture be young was stupid as hell. But that's a discussion for another thread.

Seen the trailer... can't wait for the HD version.

My word, I'm VERY excited for this film. This looks so different to the Raimi films.

2012 can't come soon enough.

I hate to say it but that doesnt mean anything. Sony may have made some bad choices but they do try to put out quality movies to say any studio doesnt try is so absurd. Since marvel started making movies and they have seen how succesfull those have been they will be trying even harder to keep up with the bar thats been set.

Raimi's movies felt like comic book movies. The teasers feels like a drama. Also people who bring up twilight are talking rubbish, in what shape or form is this movie like twilight? Okay I'm not sure I like the POV but everything up to that final shot IMHO was perfect.

The trailer seemed very "Ultimate" to me. Instead of the Goblin, we have the Lizard. I always thought that the Ultimate versions of Marvel characters were great adaptations for potential movies.

I just need to see how the CG looks during the first person web slinging. Hopefully Marc Webb doesn't go overboard with it. Andrew Garfield seemed fine as Peter. Martin Sheen and Denis Leary both were excellent as usual.
