also in the comics they can expanded spidey's eyes (surprised) etc
you can't do that in the movie, well you COULD but it would look stupid.

Ehh, do you not remember the scene near the end of S-M1 where the GG has MJ and the kids in each hand and he lets them go and we see them both falling in the lenses of Spider-Man? We didn't need to see any emotion on Peter's face there, and yet it was a brilliant part of the movie.

Touche

that's a comic, you don't have to see emotion you can read it.

for me the deepest heartfelt moment of the whole trilogy is when peter is in his room and he says 'can't I have what I want? what 'I' need?

Because that's Peter Parker who you're seeing suffering. Even though they are one and the same, they should be treated as somewhat different personas.

The things that Spider-Man does affects Peter Parker... and vice versa.

that's different, kids are dropping to their death, the audience don't have to guess what spidey is thinking.

when spidey is being handed his arse by goblin you needed to see how exhausted spidey is in the eyes. put it this way

SM1 -
spidey is knackered when goblin is kicking him up and down (and then steps on his wrist as spidey is about to web him)

SM2 -
spidey is knackered when after he stops the train (and ock knocks him out)

but in SM1 you can see it (spidey's tiredness) more becuase you can see the eyes, no question about it.

How could anybody forget this.

Especially the "Don't do it, Goblin!".

I really need to watch Spider-Man 1 again soon. :D

Seeing his whole face to convey a certain emotion isn't necessary. It's cliche as hell.

hmm, maybe, but I still want to see it. come up with clever ways of showing the face that doesn't involve taking the mask off.

after watching the SM1 tons of times I realised something, spidey (with spider reflexes) sees the bomb blowing up in slow motion, you can see the bomb in the iris of his eye and THEN the mask is blown off his face, therefore the film makes removed the mask so you could see pete's reaction to the bomb.

I think this is THE best part in the movie. Say what you will about Raimi, that was masterful film-making

If I could tell Webb one thing and one thing only it would be......Leave the Damn mask on!!!!!!!!! :cmad:

just an observation...

there are currently 442 people (FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY TWO!!!) on the bat forum. Yikes!!

now imagine if that scene was spidey instead of peter (the message that needs to be got across to the audience is still the same), there is no why on this earth that scene would work with spidey in a full mask, not a chance. but in the comic you could have spidey 'thinking' that line of dialogue, have him hunched over a bit (sad) and you could 'kinda' get away from it.

movies are a VISUAL medium and whilst comics are a visual medium as well you can spell out dialogue and not only that reader can read at any pace so pacing isn't an issue.
That's one of the MANY heart felt moments, IMO.

an incredibly epic trilogy overall, IMO. They still haven't been topped, IMO.

Wow. Must be because of the showing of the prologue last night.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the unmasking? I mean yes, it gets to be a little repetitive, but I think Raimi wanted to show that Spidey was still this young kid Peter Parker, and to show points of exposure and weakness -then prevailing in the face of his evil.

Unmasking is not necessarily a bad thing when it makes a statement that is productive for the film progression ie when he is unmasked while stopping the train in SM2...it made for a great emotional scene and made sense that his mask was removed.

Raimi had his mask off so much I felt like I was being hit over the head with a hammer and Raimi screaming in my ear..."SEE IT'S STILL PETER UNDER THERE!!!" It hurt :csad:

The train sequence IMHO is the best action sequence in a comic book movie and is probably in the top 5 for an action sequence in ANY movie.

If any lizard sequence is HALF as exciting then we're in for a treat.

Look at this epic fight from S-M2. I still get shivers.

Awesome fight scene.

The part at 2:52 always makes me lol hard though. I'm actually glad it was cut out of the theatrical release. That cut to inside the train with the passengers tumbling over makes no sense. Spidey hitting into Doc Ock would never speed up the train. Not to mention the fact that they should be falling in the opposite direction if the train was speeding up since the cut suggests that the front of the train is to the left.
