I don't get the 'tv-esque' reference at all.

dialogue - there has hardly been any dialogue.
look - ASM's cinematography is stunning and depth of black in the image is jaw dropping, looks fincher-esque.

so how does what we've seen look like tv because I don't get it

The look of the film looks very Fincheresque mainly due to the fact they are using Finchers/Sony's camera of choice, Red Epics.

Every shot i saw from the raimi film's had colour and excitement, I'm just worried that sony saw TDK, and thought that maybe gritty, dark and faded colours would equal a great spider-man film...which is a scary stupid idea.

The goal here for Sony is to stay clear of Raimi's Spider-Man. They're trying something new and fresh. Captain America, IMO, was a perfect example of a great superhero movie. Wasn't extremely dark, yet still maintained a mixture of comedy, action and seriousness. From what I've seen so far from TASM, it's not that different. The new trailer should tell us a lot more.

Maybe, but I don't think that's it.

Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson and Bryan Singer all used the same 3D camera that Marc Webb filmed ASM with, on Prometheus, The Hobbit, and Jack the Giant Killer and none of those films look anything remotely alike to each other or ASM.

From a visual standpoint, I'd say it's pretty clear Webb is greatly inspired by David Fincher.

The two do also share a common trait. They both cut their teeth as filmmakers, by directing music videos, for the better part of their early careers.

I think it's the cinematographer rather than the director as 500 days is lit totally differently

^Still, the Director has to give an okay to every shot's visual appearance, so even if it is the cinematographer that has made the 'image' that way, Webb would have given the okay to it being that way, or maybe he even suggested it be that way.

then kudos to all involved as it looks amazing. I hope the contrast between the blacks and whites are as stark in 3D, the last two (live action) 3D movies I saw looked blurry and washed out (fright night/captain america) but I 'think' both those movies are post converted.

You know I'm kinda glad Sony waited for their trailer. TDKR blew it's load, let that settle, then spring on the new trailer.

Good stratgey. It better kick some arse.

BTW, since when is everyone around here a cinematography expert?? WTF??

"The blacks look so deep and the contrast is excellenet.."

WTF... just make a good uncheesy movie.

They were and that is why TASM has the advantage over many of the 3D movies coming out next year.

Spidey was shot COMPLETELY in 3, unlike other films which either film in 3D but have a few 2D scenes or ones that post convert all together.

So far, ALL of the 3D marvel studios films have been Post converted, which is why the 3D was so bad on them.

Despite no longer having free glasses given with their 3D films, Sony is did the right thing by having their 3D films (Underworld and TASM) shot in 3D.

I mean, I don't mind paying 3 more bucks for glasses as well as the 13.50 ticket if the 3D is going to be superb.

everything matters to me.
the dialogue
the direction
the lighting
the score
the editing

maybe you don't notice if it's good but you certainly notice it if any of the above is bad

I have much faith in Webb and his directing style. My only concern is Vanderbilt... I enjoyed Zodiac, however his track record consists of several poorly received films. I just hope we won't be let down in the writing here.

While he has a couple stinkers, and most screen writers do, he has some good to balance that out..zodiac, like you mentioned, and I can't speak for anyone else but I loved the losers and even the rundown. He seems like a writer who writes for the material and the losers and the rundown proves he can write decent/good dialogue, witty banter between characters and some good action. Plus, Steve Kloves is no slouch and he's gone over the script, along with Alvin Sargent. The script will be fine

The Indian ASM Facebook page says that the next trailer is coming "very soon".

Agreed. It really helps to make the film seem less "generic", if you will. BTW I think the trailer will be excellent.

Ah.

Well, "soon" is a popular word when it comes to this sort of thing... :P

We'll be seeing something by mid-Jan anyways, hopefully.
