Well, AvSM #1 is out tomorrow, so I figure we should have a thread about this latest Spidey book...

It's basically Marvel Team-Up with a fancy name, but that's great with me because I loved MTU as a younger reader... and with Spidey on the FF and 2 Avengers' teams, this will be a great opportunity to showcase his team ups...

I can't wait for this as well! Been looking foward to it for a while!

Aloha,
As first issues go this one was a B+ for me. It sets up very well and makes you want the next installment right away. The art is clean and I think as time goes by will even improve, simply because Joe Mad needs a few issues to get his mojo working completely. As Team Up volumes go, with Wells as the feature writer and Mad as artist this could become the stand out Team Up volume.

Terrible terrible terrible. What a waste of Joe Mad. Decompressed garbage.

Also, it keeps the whole Spider-Man-Being-The-"GEEK"-In-Front-Of-The-KEWL-KIDS-Avengers thing going. I HATE that. Spider-Man could throw Spider-Woman into the sun and don't get me started on Wolverine.

Have yet to read it fully, dipped into the first couple pages lastnight and thought what I saw was good. I do like a team-up series; I was mad when they cancelled Deadpool Team-Up.

I agree that there should be more stories contained to one issue, but I thought this was a solid start and establishes what kind of book it'll be. It's upbeat and just straight action and adventure; not much more to be asked of.

Honestly, I loved it. Spidey was well-written, even if I'm tired of him being played as the "rookie" in front of the Avengers. Still, Joe Mad, whose work I've never cared for, rocks pretty hard this issue! His Spidey is instant classic.

My only other complaint would be that, just as I was getting to that "hell yeah" moment, it ended. BAH!

Still, it's on my now meager pull list, and I look forward to the next installment!

I agree with Donald for the most part, although the rating I'd drop to a B/B-, I'm tired of the decompression too, but maybe I wouldn't feel that way if I was trade waiting.

I yap about it a little more here:

Thanks for checking it out if you do!

i thought it was gonan be one of those previews that showed you the first couple of pages, but that was a bit spoiler-y, taking you through events from beginning to end, not that i was gonna buy it anyway.

Well, aye, of course, but most of the previews for books i have seen just show you the first couple of pages, that preview shows you one of the final panels of the story, so I just thought I'd say.

Aloha,
Does anyone remember the discussions we had on these threads regarding the day that along with the hard copy of the comic you would also be able to get a digital version?
With Avenging Spider-Man #1 that day has arrived:word:

While I thought the last 2 issues were blah... issue #6 with the DD/Punisher cross-over has been great...

If you can get DD from the begining, I would highly recommend it... no more dark brooding DD... it's old school swash buckling fun DD... Mark Waid has really amped his writing with this book.
