Who do you want for Balder The Brave?


My choice:
Henry Cavill

I'd be down with Cavill.

Balder should be pretty easy to cast for. There's certainly no shortage of moderately buff, extremely handsome young male actors around.

I do not see much of an issue on casting him. the actor just has to be handsome and look like he is "pure".

Cavill would be a great choice. But... if theyre going with anything resembling the first draft, Balder would be an older man... like seven years older than Thor, at least. And married.

But of course, they may change the character and make him younger. And if that happens, I think Cavill would be fine.

Why the hell would the script randomly make Balder old?

Its not that he is that much older than Thor... its just that he seemed like a more mature guy, you know, hes not only the embodiment of virtue in the script, but also maturity. If I remember correctly, the 1st draft never says what is Balders age, but as you read, you can tell hes in a VERY different phase of his life when compared to Thor or Loki.

Well, Balder's always been more mature than Thor. If Odin were the kind of guy to use the ol' "Why can't you be more like ________?" line, Balder would fill that blank whenever Odin was talking to pre-Blake Thor. Balder could still be all mature and zen-like without being older.

I've been thinking... We all know Hartnett tested for Loki but didn't get it. Maybe they thought he would be better for a different role, perhaps Balder.

Balder is Thor's younger brother in Marvel. Younger because Thor is next in line to Odin, and Balder is next in line to Thor. He's wiser than Thor because he's less a warrior & more of a statesman.

If old Balder was Protosevich's idea, damn him & I'll be even happier he's not credited in this film.

I agree except for the part about Balder being less of a warrior. He's wiser and a better tactician than Thor, but he's no less a warrior. He's considered one of Asgard's best and noblest warriors alongside Thor, Sif, and the Warriors Three.
