The Dark Knight The Official Barbara Gordon/ Batgirl thread

as we all know from previous interviewa, nolan said that dick grayson/robin wont be in the trilogy, but he never said anything about barbara gordon being in the films. i'm assuming that barbara will be in the next two films, but we probably wont see batgirl (or maybe just in the last one). my top pick for the role of barbara is rachel mcadams, she's the right age and has the right acting abilities to pull it off. it used to be lindsey lohan, but shes now a spoiled bad actress

Well, he didn't say taht in so many words. He just said that Robin is a long way off seeing as this is a young Bruce Wayne. Niether, Robin or Batgirl will be in the movies for a long time.

I'm thinking Batgirl is more likely to be a spin-off than added to Nolans trilogy considering there is a new All Star Batgirl coming out.

If it does well I can see her getting her own movie instead.
Or, perhaps, just being introduced in Nolans work. I cant see there being enough time in the trilogy for Batgirl to come into full swing considering she was a crying baby in BB.

If Babs is to be in a Batman film by Nolan... the only way I can see her in it is being directly being shot by the Joker and become Oracle without being Batgirl at all.

The Barbara Gordon confusion.

Gordon's first wife is name Barbara. Gordon's brother and step-sister have a child, Barbara (I believe there is some possibility that this child may actually be Jim Gordon's).

Then Baby James comes along after Barbara and Jim move to Gotham. It is assumed that this was the baby in Batman Begins, given its closeness to Year One. Also Gordon has brief fling with Sarah Essen.

Eventually Wifey Barbara and Jim Gordon split and Gordon takes custody of Niece Barbara (not exactly in that order). Barbs Gordon becomes Batgirl and eventually Orical.

Gordon marries Sarah Essen.

Sarah Essen killed.

If Barbara Gordon the child is introduced into the films I think she will take the role of Orical dead on, and will serve as the love intrest for Dick Grayson.

IMO the best pick for her given that she will not be in the franchise for years is Emma Watson.
