Look, I knew there was backlash, but this one is nuts…

Really enjoying the Miller novel; just picked it up earlier today and already 100 pages in. We’ll see how wild the Clayface powerset gets—it seems more super strong Elephant Man at the moment (again, barely a third into the novel), but I’m reminded that T2 and The Abyss were pioneering that liquid-matter CGI so maybe some Clayface face morphing could be achieved in the early 90s had this been a real film sequel. Plus Willow and Michael Jackson’s Black or White video were around too.

Wonder who the author will pick for Revolution? We shouldn’t assume these are in the same canon as the comic series right? So those villains & characters should theoretically be on the table

I wonder how they would've pulled that look off in 1989 or 1990.
Well... I suppose with some good old movie make-up.
It doesn't look that crazy of a design to me, and we tend to forget how much can be done with this traditional technique.

In my opinion, some facial deformation through prosthetics (as in the examples above) combined with some Beetlejuice-style make-up, would pretty much match the model shown in the illustration.

Would have loved to get the new '89 Bats from Hot Toys but they ****ed up the suit. :csad: Looks like I'll have to wait for the 3.0 in 10+ years...

How many Keaton Batman figures have they released at this point?

The DX09 back in 2012 and the 2.0 few months ago.

The Returns suit and Modern suit (The Flash) will be released some time this year.

Rumors building that McFarlane's Batman 1989 wave has been cancelled... most likely due to issues involving likeness rights with Nicholson and Billy Dee Williams.

Very plausible, but immediate feelings of doubt set in as soon as they named Vicki as one of the characters that would be receiving a figure. McFarlane has taken some heat for lacking much female representation in his lines, so the idea of a non-powered/costumed female character being front and center in this wave does raise a red flag (see: no Chase Meridian in the Forever wave).

Billy Dee as Two-Face also seems a little suspicious. We saw with the ‘66 figures that they ran through the actual canon characters before eventually integrating those specific to the comic. It always seemed most likely to me that the first wave would be Batman, Joker, Penguin and Catwoman, and then they’d do any additional stuff later (including Billy Dee’s Two-Face and the comic Harley/Scarecrow/Batgirl/Robin). But Batman, Joker, a non-costumed Vicki Vale and a comic-specific Two-Face? Idk…

But again, the likeness issue is very plausible. I recall McFarlane making it sound like likeness rights held up the Dark Knight Trilogy wave, so the fact that it’s taken this long to get to the Burton stuff suggests there might be some hurdles there.
