The Official Batman (1989) Thread - Part 5

This movie is still a great pleasure to sit through, and I have to say Jack Nicholson as Joker is more impressive than I remember.

This has been making its rounds in the fan community and I'm not sure if it's ever been posted here before but this is a copy of the contract Michael Keaton signed for Batman 89.

Fascinating. How many months did the movie shoot for again? Wasn't it Aug/Sept-Dec 1988?

Now I'm curious to know how much he got paid for Batman Returns. Most definitely a few million. I never expected the number for 89 to be huge, but $400,000 by even 1989 standards seems a little low to me. Probably had to be, to compensate for Jack's
paycheck haha

I come to remember the film shooting from October 88 - January 88, but that could be wrong.

I think I remember reading somewhere, probably IMDB, that the Returns cast got:

Michael Keaton - $10 million (with some sort of back-end deal).
Michelle Pfeiffer - $3 million
Danny DeVito - $1 million

I think, Nicholson took a low-ish pay cheque in way of taking a cut of the overall Box Office and because he chose that way, he made a fortune.

He's way darker than many remember at the time. In watching it back in the cinema in '89, you got a feeling of that but at 14, I suppose I didn't appreciate the 'depth' of the performance that one sees as an adult.

I assume he still received some type of sign on percentage up front once he signed the deal.

I'm just astonished by how short and simple the contract is. Even the non-disclosure agreement that would precede such a contract nowadays would be twice as long at least.

That contract was really cool, thanks for sharing.

Somewhat surprising Pfeiffer got that much more than Devito for Returns.

Billy Dee Williams Two-Face. Something I Cooked Up.

You have used a proportionally larger picture of TDK's Two Face's damaged face, and one in which he is looking in a different direction. It doesn't match up.

I'll Give It Another try.

I own it as well, as well as the full Prince album on vinyl and the original Danny Elfman score on vinyl. Vinyl is where it's at.

Jesus, between her and Kirsten Dunst in the Spider-Man trilogy, I'm really glad that "screaming damsel" trope has been pretty much erased from the genre.

I just assumed this shot was done in reverse but I read somewhere that a Bat-suit was placed on a mannequin, if you watch the scene over the mannequin moves slightly.

You've just kicked down some of Keaton's badass points for me :(

Eh.. It still looks like a man (be it Keaton or stunt man) in a batsuit to me.
