Peter Parker is in love with a girl who:
-Went from Flash to Harry to kissing Spider-Man all in one movie.
- Who got engaged to John Jameson, and then tried to hook up with Peter behind John's back. Then jilted John at the altar
- Who was jealous of Spider-Man getting more fame than her (Just check out that filthy look she throws him outside the theater when she realizes the crowd is clapping for Spidey and not her hahahaha)
- Who kissed Harry while being with Peter
- Who dumped Peter just because Harry told her to instead of just telling Peter Harry was trying to force her
There is no crueler punishment Batman, or Doc Ock, or Green Goblin, or Venom, or anyone else could inflict on Spidey than having the poor chump believe this is the woman of his dreams
As far as embarrassing acts go, a picture speaks a thousands words:
