Didn't Mares call out Donaire before he got schooled by Rigo?
Yup, GoldenBoy offered TopRank 3mil for Donaires services/fight Mares, but TopRank said no way. Instead Donaire lost to Rigo for 1.5mil.

Go figure.

Just shows how much of a snake Arum is. If people can't see he's the biggest reason May/Paq never happened, then they don't want to see it.

It's lazy to say Rios is unskilled because he prefers to go to war with everyone he fights. You don't get to his position in the sport without attaining a solid skill set. Slugging on the inside may be his wheelhouse, but he uses the jab to get himself there. Remember when he wobbled Alvarado in their second fight? It was with a well-timed jab that he launched following a clever feint. That said, he'll be blitzed by Pacquiao's speed. Hopefully that will set up a Pacquiao-Broner showdown for next year. And that match-up, in turn, assuming Pacquiao can win, is the only thing that can set up Mayweather-Pacquiao at this point. And I think Pacquiao would be more than able to follow the blueprint established by Ponce de Leon against Broner to take a decision against "The Problem," too.

I'd like to see one of these keyboard warriors that called Brandon Rios unskilled get into the ring with him for a sparring session. I bet they wouldn't last a round.

Lucas Mathysse, wow.

He isn't skilled relative to other professional boxers, that's why he lost the rematch, and also why he's been selected to fight Manny. On the same token though I'd like to see you get in the ring with Floyd. I'd pay thousands for that...

Right because I constantly say he's unskilled and I could beat him. :whatever: He's skilled and the best boxer right now, but he's also a crybaby, a whiner, insecure, and ducks the best fights out there.

And on that token, I'd rather pay to see Brandon Rios fight win/lose/draw over another Mayweather prances to another win snooze fest.

Good thing it's America, nobody forces you to watch Mayweather fight. Just because you like guys that block with their face and flail around doesn't mean everyone else does or should.

Unfortunately, since it is America, nobody can force you to stop posting this nonsense about Floyd ducking people that you keep trying to promote either. A stance that, time and again, has been proven untrue, SMH...

Agreed. Rios is not a skilled fighter at all and this is going to be Paq's come back fight if he doesn't get knocked out. There's a reason they chose him after 2 straight loses.

Anyone seen Kessler/Froch?! Fight of the year candidate! :wow:

awesome news. either floyd gives another brilliant performance or its the passing of the torch.

I still think Floyd comes out on top. He's still got the speed, I think he will wear Canelo down in the late stages of the fight. Canelo doesn't seem to have good endurance to me, he seems to tire easily.

I'm not one who believes in triangle theories and such, but i do think it'll be an interesting fight given that canelo is basically a suped up cotto and floyd looked the most human he's ever looked since castillo vs cotto. i do think he'll come out on top though.

he's definitely skilled just in a different way. he's a pretty good in-fighter, which for some reason most people don't considered that as skilled as a guy who's mostly and out-fighter.

catchweight.

That will be the first thing people criticize Floyd about if he handles his business, even though Manny did it numerous times and was praised regardless. That or they'll create some new boogey-man he'll need to beat in order to "solidify" his career, smh. Bottomline is Canelo will be at least 165 pounds on fight night, if not more. De La Hoya was damn near 170 for their fight...

I can see it now, 'Canelo was too young', 'Canelo was drained', 'Floyd NEEDS to beat Carl Froch to prove he is the best'

It's only a big deal because it was something Mayweather heavily criticized Paq for.

Can you blame Mayweather? Canelo is big enough to fight Ward.

It's completely understandable. I have no problem with catch weights. It's Mayweather that had a problem with it for Paq's opponents yet suddenly has a change of heart when he's facing the bigger man.

If Mayweather wins this it'll be by boring UD. No way does he have the balls to stand and trade with Canelo.

Pretty funny how Mayweather can go to 154 for championships, now all of a sudden he demands a catchweight. smh. Can't wait to see his other demands and nonsense he'll be talking leading up to the fight.
