Well, none of us are actresses in Hollywood, fortunately.

It's kind of sad. Society's (and especially male society's) vision of what an attractive woman is supposed to look like ends up sending most actresses under the knife before they even hit forty. And then, by the time the plastic surgery starts to show -- or if they get a few wrinkles -- actresses are tossed on a scrap heap of terrible roles or they're simply left behind. Actors, however, keep getting the creme de la creme of roles until they're in their sixties and seventies. My God, Harrison Ford is still considered a leading man and he's in his middle sixties. But his love interest would probably be in her thirties -- young enough to be his daughter (hello, Calista).

Irks me to death.

Anyway, it sounds like Kidman might have gone overboard, which is a shame.

On another note, it's about time we got that high-resolution photo of Routh. Too bad it was the same one we've seen before though. ;)

"Christopher Reeve was a pretty man, but now he seems like an absolute Charles Atlas he-man compared to this guy." -- Alex Ross

Considering Alex Ross' Superman looks like Puddy after a Krispy Kreme donut binge, he shouldn't be one to comment. :p

I kid, triplet ... I kid ... ;) :)

With all of the rain that we've been getting here in Southern California, I've been couped inside for a few days and I'm getting testy. Who better to take out my frustrations on than Alex Ross?

*Sigh* The "casting couch" claims just won't die...

I was talking about the Kate Bosworth casting over at GAFF, and along the way one of the people there claimed point-blank that her "gossip source" says that Routh is not only gay, but that he's Singer's boyfriend and thus was cast for that reason. I swear to God, I'm not making this up. She's actually stating this as fact. And when I brought up Rachel Boston, she admitted that she didn't know about their relationship, but soon said, "Well, he's either bi or he was just faking it to get a part." She's also a firm believer in the "Tom Cruise is gay" gossip that's been going around for years, which doesn't say much for her credibility....

I have to admit, I got mad when she said this, and I called BS on her "source." If Routh outs himself, fine. I'll believe it then and only then. But until/unless that happens, I am NOT in the mood to hear self-styled gossips spreading that talk around as if it's fact, especially when it calls Singer's professionalism into question. Hell, the only reason this is even coming up at all is because Singer's gay. With any other director, nobody would be saying this. What in God's name is going on?

Certain people are idiots.

It's been going on for a while.

At first, it was just the pathetic trolls with an axe to grind (Caviezel wasn't cast in the role, etc.) who were spreading this sort of nonsense. Most of them were either written off, banned from the Superman boards, or eventually crawled back under the rocks from where they came. But now this crap is being accepted as feasible "gossip" and is thus approaching the realm of accepted possiblity -- simply because Singer is a gay man, and most of these brainiacs assume that all homosexuals think with their crotch.

Constructive or intelligent criticism of Singer's film is one thing, but tossing that unsubstantiated garbage into threads is another. Good for you for calling this woman out on her "gossip source" (a.k.a. "I read it on the boards")

Well, I actually love Ross' paintings of Supes. His Superman looks very manly, which I think is partly why he said what he did. Right now, Routh isn't.

I dunno, I guess we'll see what happens but he needs to bulk up some...

I understand, I recently was very testy myself but it was thanks to driving in the snow, blowing snow, sleet, and freezing rain in Kansas....

I drove back East for a week and hit the blizzard in Kansas on the drive back. It was pure hell and it took me at least twice as long as it should have to drive the length of Kansas... I had to stop at one point only four hours from home because it was just too dangerous.

I believe that he is gay. Or, at least, had starred in some gay porn when he was much younger.

I have a dear friend who is gay and he claimed that he's seen at least one of the videos that Cruise made back then...

Also, his first wife Mimi Rogers even implied in an interview that they never had sex. She later retracted the statement because her talking about Cruise violated terms of her divorce settlement with the star.

I dunno, I guess the jury's still out but it wouldn't bother me if he were. Why worry about it? Is it really that much of a career killer?

As for Routh, would it really matter if he is gay? Or, if true, that he was Singer's lover?

What matters is the end product...

I honestly don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised.. for similar reasons.

Sadly enough, I do think a person's sexuality can be a factor in their career, particularly in a high profile career.

As for Routh, would it really matter if he is gay?

Not a bit.

Or, if true, that he was Singer's lover?

That would raise a few eyebrows, just as it does when any director hires someone who they are involved with romantically. But there's no reason at all to believe that is the situation in this case and it's wildly idiotic for people to suggest otherwise.

What matters is the end product...

Again, agreed. :)

Well, to each her own. Alex Ross' paintings of Superman have always looked fat, squinty, and tired to me. But again, beauty remains in the eye of the beholder.

Your story about driving in Kansas *does* sound scary. I'm just suffering from cabin fever, but I can't imagine the fun of driving in a blizzard. When you had to stop four hours from home, was it basically a white out condition where you couldn't even see a foot down the road?

I probably would have wrecked the car and died under a foot of snow. Hell, it rains here in California and nobody knows what to do.

What part of CA are you at?

WHO CARES WHO PLAYS CLARK. What matters is that he does it right and makes the people believe a man can fly again. Oh and about the costume only change these little unnoticeable things make the blue and the red darker make the trunks practically black make the spitcurl look like an accident dont make it look like Clark put it on himself make the cape reach his ankles because no self-respecting man would ever wear LIGHT BLUE OR HAVE A SPITCURL not in this day and age I wouldn't would you ? No you wouldn't. Would it kill the costume designers to do that ? Am I right or what ?

king krypton, you know people love to believe that actor and actress have to sleep with the director to get the role. :o and how about the investors, the producers, the film makers and so on... how many people they need to sleep with... oh god...

just ignore those sour grape. they are either actors failed in the acting arena or the unhappy hardcore fans.

Hi all,

Just a quick mention to let you know that "COLD CASE" starts on SkyOne this thursday.

According to IMDB, it is episode 7 that will feature BRANDON ROUTH. So expect to see it in 7 weeks.

Hope this is of interest.

I completely agree with you Triplet.....
As for Routh being Singers lover, I highly doubt it though....I think there is way too much hanging on his portrayal, plus how would he have gotten the screentest by WB, they all had to have seen it and been in argreement.
As for Cruise....I dont want this to offend anybody in anyway but the church of Scientology, eh I shouldnt even start this here so I wont..

Constructive or intelligent criticism of Singer's film is one thing, but tossing that unsubstantiated garbage into threads is another. Good for you for calling this woman out on her "gossip source" (a.k.a. "I read it on the boards")

Lest we forget, back when Caviezel was linked to the role, Rich Johnston came out and asserted that Caviezel must be a closeted gay if he got cast. If Singer had cast him, the gay rumors would be swirling around him as well. So how can we take the gay claims around Routh seriously when Caviezel was targeted as well? It seems like people are just looking for excuses to bash Singer and are picking on his actors in order to do so.

It's gay to say being gay matters. :o

Seriously, I could care less if Superman is played by a gay guy. Heck, I could support Rupert Everett for James Bond, so I'm not really of the opinion that this stuff matters.

Yeah, and I don't hate Justin Timberlake because he's gay... I hate him because his music sucks.

Exactly.

Oh, and before I forget:

Constructive or intelligent criticism of Singer's film is one thing, but tossing that unsubstantiated garbage into threads is another. Good for you for calling this woman out on her "gossip source" (a.k.a. "I read it on the boards")

She still insists to the hills that it's a "fact" that Routh got the part by sleeping with Singer. Even regardless of the fact that Rich Johnston accused Caviezel of being gay because he was linked to the role earlier this year (which automatically makes the whole "gay" claim highly questionable), she asserts that the whole thing is a casting couch deal and that's that. Which begs the question of why this alleged bombshell hasn't leaked out into the media and is relegated solely to "gossip sources" or people who hate Routh for not being Gnillew or Caviezel. After all, the JJ Abrams script got exposed lickety-split, and even that mess wasn't as big a deal as this allegation would be.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Until/unless Routh outs himself, I ain't buying it. The "gay Superman" accusation's been hanging over the film well before Routh got cast. As such, I can't take these claims seriously.
