I doubt he'll impersonate Reeve's Clark Kent, considering that Reeve played him a bit over the top and it seems that this film won't be campy like the past ones. If anything I bet we'll see a more mild-mannered Clark Kent instead of the bumbler, but we'll probably see a shy and soft spoken CK, which is a couple of the characteristics I see in CK. [QUOTE/]

I hope so. Im not sure why people are worried about a camp factor with this movie? Just cause Singer is using the first two as vague history (whatever that term implies ) doesnt mean he's going to use that element of them. He's never made a campy movie before, if anything he went out of his way to avoid it in the X-Men movies, listen to the commentary of them and he expresses this.

Superman, I'm not sure. How different can Routh's be? Reeve was pretty dead on.

But there's always room for improvement. ;)

Speak for yourself, but you're not helping things but bringing this **** up again.

It'll just keep goin' round and round, with no end in site.

I didn't know, I haven't visited here that much. I don't know what's going on in this forum.

I think I'm the only one who hasn't responded to Routh as Superman. I just wanted to say my piece and be done with it. I didn't mean to bring up whatever I brought up.

All I wanted to say is I hate the fact that Routh is playing Superman. And I wanted Welling as Superman. That's all. Why did everyone thrash me for stating my opinion? I actually thought things would've changed by now, but I was wrong.

I personally don't understand your logic...You assumed that, given some time, more people would start to be more receptive to the idea of Welling in the role that Routh won than they were BEFORE Routh won it? Particularly given the fact that subsequent exposure to Routh in the Cold Case clips, various manips, and insider reports have been nothing but encouraging?

I don't see why people WOULDN'T get fed up with self-righteous "fans" claiming they will boycott the movie because their choice isn't the star. Please, people, a physically-appropriate actor with a respect for the character is not going to hurt this movie in the SLIGHTEST. It's just asinine narrow-mindedness why some people REFUSE to accept another actor in the role when they cannot even make a compelling argument for WHY Tom Welling should be Superman. Because he already plays a young version of the character on a TV show? There is nothing definitive or benchmark about Welling's portrayal OR the show in general, nor is there any reason why the show should be connected to the movie. Sure they've done some things well and different, but that is at LEAST balanced by the mistakes and cliches. Besides, no reason to disrespect the Superman character to the point of making him a TV-spinoff character.

Smallville and Tom Welling have no bearing on Bryan Singer's Superman. Least of all in terms of ticket sales. People will go see the movie in droves so long as it 1.) has a compelling story, and 2.) is entertaining. I'd go so far as to make a blind bet that it will succeed in both those areas.

If you want to see SHAZAM!'s Superman, or if I want to see Zo's Superman, or if Joey Finkleberry wants to see Joey Finkleberry's Superman, then I encourage you (or me or Joey) to pursue screenwriting, filmmaking, comic book writing, etc. and translate your vision. Exorcise the demons. If you want to see a modern, differentiated and entertaining take on Clark Kent as a teenager, go enjoy Smallville. I know I do. And if you want to see a professional and respected filmmaking team's take on Superman and be entertained, then wait a year and a half and go watch that big beautiful red S on Brandon Routh's chest fade in on a bigass ole screen. I know I will.

Simple. :)

Sorry I was so harsh, then, but you coulda guessed. There was a lot of fighting in regards to casting this past summer and I also had thought that things would have cleared up, but emotions are still raw....

It's just best not to bring any casting controversy issues up in here at all... Just an FYI.

You're not, but if you like Welling you might want to try this forum instead.

You'll find you have a lot more in common with the folks over there. Trust me.

Tempers are still short despite the fact that lensing starts in a month, I have my own theories on why that is, but again it's best not to bring up other potential actors in Routh's thread, if you can help it.

I will sometimes debate still, but it depends on the sitch and who I'd be debating with....

Forget Spiderman, Superman is the biggest superhero ever! and that is fact!
 i really hope to see this happening.

btw, some of the fans here make me wonder... do they want a superman movie or a TW movie actually? it's simply sad to an example like shazam.

What's wrong with you?

Who said that the only thing Welling fans could see Welling as is Clark Kent?

As if...

I don't know why the man hasn't worked more, probably because he's got a new wife he likes to spend time with on his vacations.

However, I wish he would just so he could finally put to rest all the "Welling can't act" bs that people seem to spew at the slightest excuse.

The man can act and he does it very well.

Please refer to his performance in the Smallville episode Transference where he wasn't playing Clark at all, but Lionel, and did a ****ing brilliant job.

'Nough said about that.

It's over and done with and you Routh fans shouldn't react to newbs either too dumb to know it's a fruitless endeavour to bring up casting in here or too trollish that they're just trying to stir things up.

Either way, people from now on should ignore those kinds of posts in here. It only opens up a lot of old wounds...

then, why still crying out loud for not giving the role to TW? half a year not enough??? want to whine for more??? if you fan can see him beyond clark kent and believe him as a good actor, you don't think he can make his way through and success in the acting industry??? maybe he can play james bond, perhaps other superhero or action hero or some roles that requires critical acting skill. why just for superman when it's already a done deal. pls, TW can do more than just a farmboy!!!

Did you actually read my post?

Going by what you've said, I'm guessing not.

well, perhaps i'm not refering you. ;)

Then why did you quote my post?

That was the biggest clue I had that you were talking about what I said.

superfever said:
hmmm... cause there is a 'quote' button below. :D

LOL!

I can't tell if you're really joking or not, but the quote button is when you want to refer to a specific post in your reply.

If you want to reply without quoting, hit the "quick reply" button instead (it's the button with the quill and the little piece of paper).

thanks.
btw, tripet, do you think you can get a more macho looking of TW as your avatar? the current one looks too boyish beautiful.

You need Agent Pat's old avatar where Welling is wearing a wet, white T-shirt that's clinging to his chest and abs as the camera just wanders over it ... ;)

Anyway, back to the topic:

Am I the only one who really wants to see Routh flexing his muscles with his shirt off after Batgirl's description? It really does sound like he's been hitting the weights hard. :)

Ok, I changed it, not that I think boyishly beautiful is a bad thing...

;)

not that i'm nitpicking... he looks like demi moore's boy friend now. :( perhaps the 'wet white t-shirt' is better.

Ashton Kutcher?

Mmmm... no.

I guess you can't please everyone, right?

LOL!

ok, wait... Sage, I can understand how you didn't agree with the
previous comparison between Routh and Welling due to the fact
that the poster chose a weak Welling photo.

But you can't honestly say that this photo is a better likeness of TW
and therefore more acurately depicts what Welling would have looked
like in the super-suit.

In this photo, TW has undergone such extensive manipulation that it
looks more like Christopher Reeve than it does like himself. If anything,
this is the 'worst' photo you could choose to show as TW because
it is so misleading. He'll never look like that no matter how much he
works out. Unless of course the entire budget is going towards
reconstructing the size and shape of TW's head to make him look more
like Superman.

Anyhow, TW ain't superman, he never will be, c'est la vie.

"funny, lets see where Routh career goes after superman. let me think hmmm ... wait nowhere"

HAHA At least Routh will be immortilised as the Superman of the new generation forever! unlike Welling! a tv show star,

Routh will be the big screen Supes,
just like everyone sees Reeve as the Ultimate Superman,
the new generation will view Routh the same!

is it that bad to be known as superman? In my mind, Reeve WAS a Superman, on screen and off screen,
and Routh will also be one in years to come,

The new movie is going to break box office records like never before, 20 years since the last movie! i know for a fact, every person on the planet will watch this movie!

fact this movie won't beat spiderman. it just has too much going against it

fact Routh will never be immortalized as superman, not when reeve passed away less than a year and half of the movies premire.

fact Routh will never be in the same league as Reeve

Fact Routh's acting career ends with superman.for the simple reason as did reeve's. :D

I love it when people pretend that their personal theories are "fact."
